Totally stolen from the Xbone thread - this may be the best Destiny video I've ever seen

Lol AWESOME! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ft4_I2SatsU&fe...
Considering I knew nothing about this gun/quest until yesterday and getting it is relatively straight forward, I can't see it as anything other than bonus.
The Destiny community just likes to moan.....about everything. 'nerf this, buff that, too easy, too hard...got new exotic gun, don't like it'
It'll be something else tomorrow.
ETA: I'll probably hate it when I pick it up later

For those of us who have now given in and joined the Destiny grind cult. Could I ask any noobs who are playing, or any grizzled veterans who are running toons under level 20 to post game tags below?
I am Krunchkin, or Krunch Kin.
shocks-hibbyI am Krunchkin, or Krunch Kin.
Just bought the game the other week now up to level 30 with 162 light but really still learning - liking what I see
Sleeper Simulant is in my hands, (Cheers Cheese and Matty!) report to follow shortly.
EDIT:
Well, it looks awesome, sounds great and does big damage - at a freshly-unwrapped 290 attack with no upgrades a head shot to a major knight in the daily did over 15k damage. In comparison, my 297 attack 1000 Yard Stare was doing around 8k. I did manage to kill a red bar acolyte as well, doing just over 32k (which I suspect may have been massive overkill!) and three shots downed a hallowed ogre with damage to spare.
You do only get seven shots and there's is a small charge up time before firing but it's less than a traditional fusion rifle, but it would be interesting to see what it can do against the first two raid bosses.
Did I mention it looks cool?

Did The First Firewall quest yesterday and got the drop, entered the codes but that's as far as I got.
Does anyone know yet if the second part will be available after the daily reset if I get the other bits completed tonight?
Dont know for sure but a couple of the lads thought you had to complete the part where you get to the top of CAydens Stash and beat the wizzards to checkpoint.Does anyone know yet if the second part will be available after the daily reset if I get the other bits completed tonight?
Heres hoping as thats where I left it last night.
I'm back at work tomorrow - Boo! - but have managed to complete most of my Destiny check list for the last couple of days;
- Beat King's Fall - Check, check and check
- Get exotic sword - check, Bolt-Caster in hand
- Spend a few hours trying to work out "curious transceiver item", get most of the way there only to realise that it was all on Reddit hours before - check
- Gather remaining calcified fragments - check
- Complete secondary strike, get Sleeper Simulant - check
- Go see Eris, start next phase of Hunger Pang quest - check
- Finish both Strikes for Hunger Pangs - check
- Go see Eris, finally get Touch of Malice, realise you have no weapon parts left to upgrade it - check
Just been reading through some more of the Grimoire. The lore in Destiny is absolutely fantastic, its just a pity so little of this information is in the game itself, though this one genuinely made me laugh out loud, an excerpt from the entry Cabal 4;
5 Squad [HEAVY INF]
TASK:
- defend Psion intelligence ops 071x146
OUTCOME:
- overwhelmed by Guardian fireteam/Vex pressure. few survivors. survivors reported Guardians foraging for equipment, dancing, and performing acrobatics with light vehicles
Guardians dicking around is canon! You heard it here first!
EDIT;Also, think Oryx is dead? Think again...
Excerpt from Grimoire card The Darkness; insight
If I am defeated I know it will be because my understanding of the universe was incomplete. I failed to anticipate some strategy, some nemesis. (Perhaps Taox, if she still lives.)
If I am defeated, I know that I will fall to something mighty. Something that craves might, something that loves what I love, which is the Deep, a principle and a power, the versatile, protean need to adapt and endure, to reach out and shape the universe entirely for that purpose, to mutate and redesign and test and iterate so that it can prevail, can seize existence and hold it, certain that this is everything, that there is nothing to life except living. And it has two faces, yet it is one shape. One face is the objective, which is obvious, and the other face is that will to sacrifice things and ideas for a single mission, the mission of becoming the shape, a shape that will not relent, the utter commitment to survival, to draw the right sword and choose where to cut: to allow this hunger to become your weapon.
So I will prepare a book, which is a map to a weapon. And my vanquisher will read that book, seeking the weapon, and they will come to understand me, where I have been and where I was going. And then they will take up my weapon, and they will use it, they will use that weapon, which is all that I am.
And armed thus with my past, and my future, and my present (which is a weapon, a weapon that takes whatever is available, a weapon bound to malice), they will mantle me, Oryx, the Taken King.
They will become me and I will become them, each of us defeating the other, correcting the other, alloying ourselves into one omnipotent philosophy. Thus I will live forever.
I’ll make sure."

Good lord it's addictive isn't it? Is progression faster since the 2.0 expansion? I've raced to 20 in 3 days on my first character. I can't believe that's where the levelling ended in the original. It feels like I've just got started. I can imagine how disappointed people must have been if it just became a grind after getting to 20, but i totally see now why it has people hooked. It's very cool to have a FPS where you suddenly come across random players engaged in some massive firefight with Taken Goblins.

Quick question...I picked up my 45th fragment this morning (wow, what a grind they were!) so, am I now just waiting for the mission to drop? I went back to the tower but, Eris had nothing to say to me (the bh!) Will the questline be automatically updated?
SimianWonder said:
I had the quest waiting for me as soon as I'd picked up the 45th fragment. Have you done all previous steps (assemble weapon frame etc) and are all those fragments definitely acquired on the same character? (Unlike ghosts, they're per character, not per account)
The last time I saw Eris about it, there was some kind of assembled frame action going on. There was what looked like a white scout rifle icon which you selected. The fragments are definitely on the same character, as confirmed by the map of the Dreadnaught. I also got a Grimoire card when I picked it up.
I'll check again later, I was a bit rushed this morning. Where will I find the mission itself? Do I need to complete the vanilla version as part of the Taken War first? I don't think I've done that yet...
This is what happens when I play casually

Oh yes, it is definitely addictive! Just wait 'til you get yourself into the raids...Gassing Station | Video Games | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
