Another 18GB update. If it wasn't for the fact that I want the slow clap emote I'd be annoyed.

  • Also the evil scheme emote for when I shoulder charge LC off cliffs in a raid. That never gets old.

Hmm.

You get 400 Silver free to start your emote collection, most of them are 200 each, so you can buy two. However, the Slow Clap and Enthusiastic dance (AKA "The Carlton") are 500 silver.

THAT'S A FIVER. FOR AN EMOTE.

It's no wonder Bungie expect to be able to fund the next DLCs with those prices.

Firstly, an 18Gb download for what is a minor update? Utter joke, it's a x.0.1 upgrade yet it's almost as big as the 2.0 patch? C'mon, what? (and yes, I work in software) I suspect many, many more things have been seeded with that update (every other bit of year 2 "DLC" perhaps scratchchin foilhat alert)

Real money for pointless e-motes? A fool and his money and all that, but I can't help feeling that it's the start of a slippery slope. Seriously though 4/5 quid to be able ponce on screen in some other way? Nah.

I've more or less given up on Destiny for now, hit a bit of a progress inhibiting "can't be arsed with that" and having seen Raid footage and the "rewards", I can't really be bothered with that now either I'm afraid. It's a little sad as I had high hopes for TTK.

So I find myself re-visiting Fallout 3 on PS3 as I never finished it all in preparation for Fallout 4 next month. Yes it's 8 years old and a bit (lot) clunky, but right now it's proving to be a lot of fun!

I'm also close to calling it a day now - the raid is alright but it doesn't hold weekly repeat appeal for me and I think the idea of awarding exotics and iron banner stuff at 280 light is to artificially make the game appear to have a longer life span than it actually does. Spend weeks doing the same raid to get the same equipment to infuse exotics; and then come 6 months and it's all redundant anyway.

The only time enemy AI is unpredictable on the linear missions and raids is when the game has bugs.

Saying that, I think I have got my monies worth out the game and I did really enjoy Prison of Elders from a just play it point of view.

Wow Moog, I'm surprised to see you of all people losing the Destiny love...

There is good stuff to be found in the raid, not sure why you've heard otherwise. Oh, and it is tonnes of fun too thumbup

Once again, it seems my initial casualdom has served me well as there are still weapons I actually want from the raid (Scout rifle, sniper rifle, HMG, Rocket launcher and Shottie) and the raid is still relatively fresh for me (and still fun every time I do it). Only time I didn't have fun was Sunday when it was just a laggy mess.

Had a bash at solo'ing the Nightfall earlier! Warsat was done easily by glitching under the map. The next room full of Taken, where EVERYTHING shoots arc at you was hilarious fail after hilarious fail hehe

I will be on later for another attempt but, with friends this time I think...

Raid tonight would also be good if we can get started early.

Old Lord Dalad Bar is back with his Iron Banana Speckle so PVE may be a bit quiet. Many are prepping for TOO this weekend.

That is a shame, it was Trials and PvP that killed Destiny for me last time around - I do hope history isn't about to repeat itself...

The update was only ~600mb by the way, for some reason it always shows all the updates downloaded, and skips ahead. My download started at 17.6Gb I think.

As per a couple of party chats, I’ve errrrr, been a bit busy. I am now, however, a DEAD MAN WALKING. hehe

Let me just preface this by saying that I am not hen-pecked however the House Treasurer most definitely wears the trousers, for now, after huge recent expenditure (wedding/house purchase). frown She’s currently away on a business trip/having an affair and has left me to my own devices for the past 10 days or so. She left me with 3 things:-

1. Clean yourself OR the house (apparently it is too much to ask for both hehe)
2. Absolutely NO house purchases whatsoever without consultation.
3. Don’t talk about Fight Club. hehe

Now. She married a lawyer and so should have known that I’d be looking for a loophole… she didn’t say who I needed to consult… wink

…so I had a word with myself and jumped into the RS6 (as it is cavernous!) to my favourite AV emporium. What happened next is still a bit of a blur. eek. Needless to say, I probably made the salesman’s commission for the entire month by buying all of this lot (aside from the 42” and smaller soundbar which I already had):-

There was so much that I couldn’t fit it all into the car eek. The 75” was delivered the next day (on a pallet!). biggrin

However, I realised that these could be returned quite easily so have got them installed. I didn’t want to risk doing this myself because, well, I am cack-handed. frown I am glad I did though as the installers made use of my server room aka “the room with all the whirring boxes” never to be touched. Anyway, they told me that I had CAT5/6 running through my house which meant that I could have any feed in any room I wanted. Perfect. I wanted an entirely clean look. They’ve installed my Sky boxes and PS4 there and left room for an Xbone. I can, apparently, play any of these from any TV in the house. biggrin

So. Here we have it (although I need to get some filler and to re-paint a couple of areas). There are no cables, no trunking or unsightly boxes etc in sight. Apologies for the crappy iPhone 5 pics. I was a gibbering mess when I took these:-

Kitchen. The 32” is in here. Now in my mind, this WILL please her as she can watch her crap when baking her delights but I don’t think my ingenious plan will work. frown. Still, being able to continue to watch the footie when getting a beer has got to be a good thing. smile

Next up, the snug. You’ll note from the photograph that my sofa looks a bit battered. It is hehe. 30 years old, borrowed and a replacement is top of the list of things we need to buy alongside a sofa for the main lounge. Well. That money has gone. hehe

The TV (42”) and soundbar fit really well. I wanted a cabinet for Blu-rays and to house my game collection. We’ll just use this place for watching TV in front of the fire. When mates come round, we can play some pool, have a few beers and watch a game. I do need to find a solution for glare though as in the day, this can be an issue. smile

Now. The 55” in the bedroom. This is where the likelihood of me ending up very dead increases significantly as apparently, the “bedroom is for quiet time. NO TV at all” hehe. Anyway, the room is a weird and long L-shape and so nothing less than a 55” would do to be seen from different angles.

It does annoy me that the TV does not sit in the middle of the glass arch but there is no way I am knocking down and re-building an entire wall of the barn. frown.

Finally, and as my niece would say, the peas de resistance. hehe, my games room. The anticipation during unpacking was palpable. It is the Sony 4k 75” that I had been looking at.

And the finished article (well, before some filler and paint). I had to get a soundbar to maintain a clean look and because I don’t have ceiling speakers in this room.

Just wow. The picture quality is incredible and gaming super smooth… and this is after my amateurish calibration. The touch pad remote is a work of genius. Tried a bit of 4k content and it is mind blowing. I’ll probably end up buying one of these babies for the main lounge. Having said that, my AV blokes tell me that this is already old tech. 8k on the way, apparently!

My favourite bit?! Bizarrely, it is the bigger Sony soundbar. It is a powerful speaker and the sub is literally wall shaking. Full spec here:-

http://www.johnlewis.com/sony-ht-st9-7-1-4k-blueto...

I had intended to buy the Sonos Soundbar and Sub (and these were cheaper!), but to my ears, this blew it out of the water.smile. It is so good that I can see me not decking out my cinema room at all and in fact just watching films on this. The wife has said that the space can be better used than just for gaming. We'll see.

Thanks again for the AV advise guys, particularly over party chat. You guys are awesome. thumbup

She’s back on Friday. It was nice knowing you. byebye

Top work.

When she kicks off just remind her that it could be worse. The last two occasions my other half went away, I got bored and bought myself some motorbikes. Try explaining that!

Thanks, dudes, for the support. I'll probably throw in the motorbike thing in there. thumbup

I kinda have that feeling you have just before your last ever exam. On the one hand very excited but equally terrified. She is an angry woman at the best of times (I like a challenge hehe), but this will turn her into a yellow bar ultra... with a void shield. frown There's a gag about popping a ToC in there somewhere scratchchin

I may bottle it and "whisk her away" for the weekend. She can't be mad after that.

Hmmmmmmm. scratchchin

Comforting thought, Tim, thanks. hehe

She's welcome to the £7.09 left in my account. smile

Now officially bottled it. Got flowers bought, house is going to be tidied, I *may* shower (hehe) and I've booked two nights away for this weekend so will pick her up from the airport and shoot off straightaway. I did have Rome in mind but I is skintz so York will do. smile

If any of you lot are local and see a bloke with a Hunter cape (we all wear one, right?! Right?! redface) being battered on the streets, call 5-0 or tether her. Either or. hehe

This means I am going to miss the first 2.0 ToO. Probably a good thing in all honesty. I was truly awful in IB last night- bottom two consistently. frown. I even suffered the ignominy of hearing my own phrase thrown at me by my so-called team-mates.

"git gud"

frown

Played far too much PvE and need to get back in the swing of things.

I too was surprised to hear Moog expressing some boredom with TTK already.

Iron Banner is fun in small doses, ToO isn't really my thing, I'd rather be doing a raid.

I must admit, I had already considered, Speck, that you may be looking at alternatives to ToO over the weekend, and I was going to suggest rounding up Moog and Stimps if they're about and trying to get a raid done whilst everyone else is bhing about lag switching in Trials. Moog, the raid is great, you'd be a fool to call your TTK career over before you've set foot in King's Fall.

Bloody good idea. I think I'm about most of the weekend. To be honest, about the only thing I want to do in the game now is a couple of raids and then I'll probably wind down my time with it.

Lovechild, has your brother done it yet? Anyone else on here keen to get in there?
