So, I watched the ROI teaser trailer thingy - did anyone else notice, when it was quickly flashing up buzzwords of what was included, they used the word 'Strike' rather than 'Strikes'.

I'm pretty torn about getting this although, I'll be on holiday for 2 weeks shortly after it drops so the timing is pretty good! I don't really want to get sucked back in though...

My PSN is the TheMasquerade299 for those I've played with. I completed the Mountaintop quest this week so just have the Warpriest Challenge mode to do to collect all CF and get Moments of Triumph.

BBC have done a recent report on how a lot is riding on this Rise of Iron update as Bungie have lost a lot of players over the past year - the common complaint being a lack of content.

That is correct, I believe there is only one new strike called "The Wretched Eye" - there is a video of the entire thing up on the web if you search, but I'm not interested to watch it ahead of time. They have also re-hashed a couple of the old strikes (I think Devil's Lair, good old Sepiks Prime) is one of them

There is the new raid of course but less new missions when compared to TTK apparently

I think that plenty of folks will burn through the new content pretty quickly

One thing that did catch my eye was a pulse rifle with what looked like wolfpack rounds on critical hit - now that looks like a fun smile

It's not as big of an update as TTK, which is why it costs £25 not £40. The vast majority of the team are now working on Destiny 2.

Should be around given the weather forecast for the weekend, I'll try to get on
I am hopeful of being around too. Although, only 315 and never done any raids so may be more of a liability than help!

I wouldn't worry. I've done loads of raids, both normal and hard mode and all that experience doesn't stop me from being a HUGE liability to any raid group I join thumbup

Yeah, we don't take ourselves too seriously. We're not one of those groups who is fixated only on getting through as fast as possible, we're generally happy to let people do things at their own pace and learn the mechanics. That, plus cocking around. Mainly cocking around.

Not many about yesterday or this afternoon and those that were, were IBannering. Is it me or does this event seem to be occurring more frequently than usual? Destiny is becoming more and more a (not very good) PvP driven affair frown

Interesting to read that Destiny 2 was supposed to release when Rise of Iron will instead, but they pushed it back a year with RoI being the "stop gap" measure - sure hope they use that year wisely

IB is still monthly, just everyone's playing less so it seems more often.

PvP is the main thing people do on Destiny now, it's a massive part of the game, and I'm glad ROI is adding more to it, custom games are going to be a good laugh and the new game mode looks good fun.

Yeah in the original road map D2 'should' have been out next month, that quickly changed when they realised how much they could expand this game, and what they need to learn and redevelop. I imagine originally D2 was going to be a COD style new game where it's really just a big expansion, running on basically the same game underneath, but I think they've gone back to the drawing board to change a lot of how the game works fundamentally and is coded, to make it a better game overall. Remember the heavy ammo bug? Supposedly D1 is coded in a way that's very interconnected so fixing bugs can take a long time to make sure something else hasn't been broken in the process.

Plus if they're taking their time so it's fleshed out, to a level that D1 now is, with dedicated servers (or both, dedicated for light dependant serious stuff) and 60fps, then it's fine by me. That's my wish list at least.

Call me cynical, but delays in releases are never about putting out the best product - they're about not having a playable product by the deadline and needing more time to get something that is at least acceptable. Like all other games, Destiny releases have been delayed in the past and they've still not delivered everything that the player base has been complaining about for months previously.

Destiny has got a lot better at this over the past year or so, but it seems that the current norm is for AAA games to be released absolutely full of bugs and for these to only be ironed out after months of play testing by the community, it started back with BF4 as far as I can tell, then Destiny wasn't too bad, but had its content cut significantly and it's now continuing with The Division.

Modern games aren't about their launch product anymore, yes it has to be good, but it needs a developer who continues to work and support the game and the community, and no AAA game has done that like Destiny, I can't even think of an indie game that has had this much support, this many updates and fixes, all to make the game the best experience possible.

It depends how the long the delay is, and how close to launch its announced. A month before then yeah it's just not ready. Technically D2 isn't delayed, it was never even announced. A roadmap shared between the developer and published before the original game even came out isn't really a hard date, especially since that all changed pretty much as soon as the game launched.

I wonder if it is just me but since downloading the update last night I am seeing lots of green engrams and most blue and purple are turning into stuff way below my current light level.

Even the exotic I turned in was only 300 when most of my weapons are 318/320

I've seen a lot of greens drop, but they're free weapon and armour parts so I won't complain. What I will complain about though is the awful film grain effect. Apparently it's not been deliberate, so Bungie are aware of it and are looking at a fix, but since the update it looks as though someone detonated a smoke bomb in my face, but one that covers the entire screen; gameplay, UI, menus and even the title screen!

It feels like I'm watching a TV that hasn't been properly calibrated, and as something of a tech geek, I find it highly irritating.

I read about that, noticed it a bit on the menus but not really noticed it on the gameplay.

It's very noticeable on my screen, unfortunately.

Was doing Vanguard Heroic Strikes earlier - now renamed Taken War Heroic, I noted - and when fighting Alak-Hul in the Sunless Cell strike it was virtually unplayable.

Not played this for a while now, but I've read a theory being that greens are dropping again because of story missions not having been completed i.e. the not yet available RoI ones

Lots of bugs / features introduced with the patch not in the patch notes too by all accounts, see Reddit for that information

I'm still undecided on RoI. End of the line DLC before Destiny 2 offering not all that much really, much less than TTK for instance. Still, "only" 25 quid I suppose but Destiny quickly died again once folks hit 335 and there was nothing left to chase and I can see that happening pretty quickly with this expansion (couple of weeks for some?)

Raid released just 3 days after RoI though? I know some hardcore / no life players will be at the recommended level, but for the rest of us, not so much. Maybe get there after a month or so of casual play but at that point few people are interested

I do hope that they have made the raid less intense than KF. Yes, it needs to be a challenge but it also needs to be fun and KF really isn't to the end that I've never finished it because it just takes too long with a typical mix of noobs (me, KF raid noob I should add) and people who know what they are doing. Something in between Crota and KF would be about right IMO

I've seen it suggested that greens dropping again is a bug or a glitch? No. The same thing happened with Taken King, remember? Within minutes of that dropping, I'd already had a handful greens that were much stronger than my old legendaries. The same thing is happening here, only because the light level hasn't yet updated to Rise of Iron levels all those greens are still at TTK values.

Moog, I'd never presume to tell someone how to spend their hard-earned, but it's twenty five quid and you know you won't be the only one lagging behind somewhat. Heck, I don't get to play on launch day as its the wife's birthday. I'll be at least a day behind, plus I'm working that weekend, so won't even get the chance to catch up then.

I've spent a small fortune on Destiny over the last two years, but given what I've got out of it I certainly don't begrudge it a penny of that outlay.

For all intents and purposes we are now playing ROI, just without the DLC unlocked, so a lot of stuff has changed again.

Need to get my pre-order in so I can get those exclusives wink
