Whilst Supremacy can be incredibly frustrating if you are in a bad team, on the whole I find it a lot of fun. Matches are frantic and fast paced, and mobility is key. I've also had some pretty nice rewards from the packages, including an Unbent Tree with braced frame and hidden hand which is pretty great, and a proud Spire shotgun with full auto and rifled barrel.
Got Warlock to Rank 5 sitting at 365 light, and Hunter is now 364 at rank 3. Got to love Shinobu's Vow as well; it's nice to have a definitive Hunter grenade when they've historically been a little lacking.

Any blue engram will be 340 when decrypted. Blues can drop higher but not as an engram.
If they actually decrypt as a rare grade item, then yes, 340 is the max. Don't forget, however, that they have a small chance to decrypt as legendary or even exotic grade items as well, in which case those are certainly not restricted to 340.The grind seems to be back with a vengeance in The Rise of Iron - what exactly do you have to do to get a Ghost above level 350?!!
I've got one character up to level 5 Iron Banner plus another one sitting at level 3, but the second one I'm only playing for the chance to get a Ghost and I've only seen 2 drop in that entire time, neither for me.
I genuinely can't be bothered to keep replaying the same content only to see my light level go up two to three points/sub-levels every hour - I must have sunk around 15 hours into the game since the update and I'm still only at level 359. At this rate, I might be ready for the Raid by Xmas!

Either you're getting unlucky or just doing something wrong? Smashing through faction packages will get you ghosts, they drop fairly regularly it seems. Always the gamble they'll be the same light as you currently are though.
Artifacts seem to be the more restricting thing. I'm only just 369, majority of people I see are nearer 380 if not above.
Raid isn't that hard to be honest, definitely don't need to be 360, especially if some of the rest of your team is higher. 4 manned the first boss first time, got to the Zamboni but no further. Minimum light drop is 365 in the raid so it's worth venturing in even for just the first drop.

There is only a chance of a ghost from a faction package, there's more chance of a class item dropping as there's more of them.
Bearing in mind your ghost has to be 10 light below everything else to be holding you back 2 light levels, it usually seems worse than it is.
My Ghost is 350, my other gear is 360-362, so it must be holding me back at least one light level, possibly 2.Bearing in mind your ghost has to be 10 light below everything else to be holding you back 2 light levels, it usually seems worse than it is.
I guess you're right though - even if I dropped a 360 ghost, I'm still only going to be 361 at best and I'm not sure I can be bothered to grind out strikes to raise my level any further.
Just get in and do the raid, as said it's lower limit is 365. Just play to enjoy don't focus too much on light level. IB is a decent way though if you're enjoying it as well.
Archons Forge will drop up to 365 and can be a decent way to spend an hour or so if you get some good people in there, is a bit luck of the draw though.

With a competent group, you would be fine at 359 for the vast majority of the raid. I think I was slightly lower when I first went went in and whilst things can certainly hurt, it is a great way to up your light level.Other than that, heroic strikes are great until you hit 365 but, after that only vanguard/faction packages, archon's forge and the raid are reliably going to increase your light (in PvE, no idea what happens in the crucible)
I had a similar situation to your ghost with my artefact for ages but, as soon as I had one drop at a decent level, I had loads of them drop (because the game is a troll!)

Archon's Forge drops over 365 - I've had several 370+ items recently.Gassing Station | Video Games | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
