Finally done the Aksis challenge mode with some randoms.

The emblem is a bit rubbish but I'm gonna wear it with pride.

Still didn't get a spliced helmet though frown

I might get round to iron banner this week but I'm enjoying mastering the raid too much really.

As normal, I've had a mixed few days in the Iron Banner.

I've mentioned it to a few of you in party chat, but during my Trials run last week I was asked which sensitivity I played with. I checked and replied; 4. No good, I was told. Turn it up to maximum. Yes, it'll take a while to get used to being able to turn on a sixpence but when you're accustomed to it, you can move and react much more quickly. And, what do you know, they were right. Sort of.

For running shotgun, then yes, it's massively beneficial. Tracking targets is much easier when your screen doesn't move like it's partially submerged in treacle, and it's a breeze to jump in the air, look down, fire then follow up with a melee if required. On the flip side, it does make quickly adjusting your sights with your primary a bit more difficult.

Some maps makes this more viable than others, and I've been my normal self - consistently inconsistent!

The theory is sound, but in reality you either need cat like reflexes or to run a loadout/playstyle that suits it.

As you say Sims, it is obviously suited to shotgun warriors who rarely use their primary. Sniping on a high sensitivity is entirely different. I used to use high sensitivity back in COD4 and did pretty well, but was more suited due to low ttk. Nowadays my reactions are too slow, so fair play to those who make it work. They've got a definite advantage by doing so.

I've not really played since Titanfall came out, but done some IB to grind a CD. It's been fun, and I agree with Moog in that counter balance isn't essential, so been enjoying trying out the different rolls.

Funnily enough, amidst all the shotgun heroes, I've been doing really well with hand cannon/sniper. Because most people are desperately trying to close the gap to shotgun you, you can afford to body shot with a sniper and finish with a hand cannon shot. Easy pickings!!

Good work on your first game god roll drop though clap

ETA: Was looking at your CD earlier Sims and I personally think it's more of a god roll using unflinching in the last column (assuming of course that it actually does something tangible).

Question about levelling efficiency if I may. I'm at 393 with one specific loadout and have 2 x exotic chest engrams, 1 x legs, 3 x specials and a heavy

Current heavy is 394, chest also at 394, special at 386 and legs at 395. Should I be burning the engrams now in order to gain higher LL items and then grind IB / Forge to fill the gaps and hope for higher drops, or grind IB for higher items first / further exotic engram chances and then burn the engrams once IB is over?

I should know this, but it's doing my head in when I think about it wobble

Some good games this afternoon chaps and I at least have 2 witnesses to my 3.5 k/d in the first match. Normal service resumed by the final one however, less than 0.5 getmecoat

Depends what class you are as that changes what armour can drop. It's all a bit much of a muchness to be honest, but I'd probably wait unless the engram could potentially boost you up a level.

fking RNG

All I need to get to 400 is boots. I played Iron Banner for 12 hours yesterday (12!!) playing really well, and came away with a dozen 400 Clever Dragons, 4 or 5 400 Silvered Dreads, 6 400 chest pieces, a number of 400 artifacts, two 400 cloaks and two 400 sniper rifles. No sodding boots though.

Managed to get an invite to HM Aksis Challenge this afternoon, and with good team call outs, it wasn't that hard. Not sure the rewards are worth the effort, but it's done and that's another thing off the to-do list.

Didn't get much raid armour en route, but did get the warlock helmet. It looks... well, it looks ridiculous.

Iron Banner always has moments of sheer unbridled frustration, but at least it chucks enough loot at you that it always feels worthwhile. As Brainpox said, I've had no luck with my boots - I've had numerous 400 primaries, a couple of secondaries, god knows how many heavies, several artifacts, a couple of chest pieces... but no boots.

I need gloves and boots to hit 400, so I'll definitely be hitting Heroic Mode Raid next week. Any one else fancy getting it done? Maybe Vosik Challenge as well?

Well, that was my first ever Iron Banner in 2+ years of Destiny and it was OK. I wouldn't call it fun unless I was playing with friends and the lack of randos seemingly able to PLAY THE DAMN OBJECTIVE was annoying but I hit rank 5 easily enough (despite a 5+ lose streak when I needed just one more win to achieve it). I picked up stuff from bounties, stuff from the quest that everyone will have already done at rank 3 and 5 and as a result light went from 386 to 394 so "productive" I guess you'd call it, but that's about as high as I'll go I reckon. Might get to 395 if the Forge drops me a ghost but I'm still waiting

I'm still to do anything other than Vosik in the monitor room (when I was at just 358 and on adds clearing duty) so I'd be up for running the Raid at some point. Getting 6 people to do it might be a deal breaker though, as I think a lot have called it a day on Destiny and why not - hit 400, job done until D2 ... tumbleweed

I have some time alone on Sunday with SWMBO out for the day. I have never done the raid (or any raid for that matter) so could be around to give it a go.

Work has gotten pretty manic for me so not sure how much time I can spend on destiny in the near future but I certainly would be up for some raids.

Unfortunately, circumstances have dictated my early departure from this DLC as I've had no internet for weeks (due to house move) so, I've been left way behind at 377 light and no particular motivation to play catchup. I only really bought the DLC as a distraction whilst on holiday so, it has served it's purpose and then some. Never quite finished the raid (damn you Aksis and your confusing mechanics!hehe) but, I've never been a completionist so, I'm not too bothered about that. Long gone are the days of VoG when there were outstanding raid weapons to be acquired.

It was lots of fun running around Destinyland with some of you lot again (Stimpy, I'll miss our early morning chats wavey)

Internet should be back on today but, I need to spend some time on the Vive (there is aLOT of cost there to justify biggrin ) and, a few other PS4 games have caught my eye (Titanfall, Battlefield & tomb raider).

I may be back on Destiny for a bit after xmas if I decide to get my nephew a PS4 (he is obsessed with Destiny since I let him have a go last month). Not sure I could bring myself to delete a character though so, may have to create a new login instead.

Other than that, I'll be waiting for Destiny 2

Titanfall is brilliant, though the campaign is way too short. The multiplayer is quite addictive.

I'm certainly leaning that way over Battlefield and COD although, COD tends to have a much meatier campaign (which can also be played co-op) and bots for when getting destroyed online becomes tiresome.

Hmmm scratchchin decisions, decisions...

I am also somewhat left behind as I have not been on for a few weeks due to work and travel.
Looks like Destiny will go quiet but I dare say I will still have the occasional run through.

Struggling a little to decide what next, PS VR is fun, Titanfall looks good and seems good PVP, Battlefield is very pretty but neither have that coop raid / nightfall factor or maybe I am just not giving them credit?

Spacs (hehe)/Davie/any one of you fun-boys (hehe):-

Check your inbox as I received an email today from Sony with a code for 43% off Titanfall 2 through PSN. Brings the price down to about £30 which may or may not be competitive. If you haven't got the email then drop me a message on PSN and you can have my code. It looks like a great game but I'm happy with BF1 and Overwatch.

Finally hit 400 on the warlock today, thanks to the generosity of Wrath of the Machine. I needed gauntlets and boots, and it provided. I also got a couple of 400 heavy weapons, a couple of 400 snipers, and the raid pulse rifle, thus completing my WotM weapon collection.

Now seems like a bit of an odd time to be playing Destiny. The initial hype over Rise of Iron has died down entirely and a lot of people have now long since moved on to other games / hobbies, which is both understandable and a bit of a shame. Playing with randoms can be entertaining and educational; tried a few things today I'd not have done previously, but you also lose a bit in terms of the rapport and banter you'd get with a regular squad.

Maybe I'll get stuck back into Skyrim on the Xbox One?
