Fairly regularly, it's the best sword for PvP and one of the best heavies for PvP.
Gawd, are you here to be deliberately provocative? My point being that what normal person would use Bolt Caster as a heavy in solar burn PvE strike week? Sure, it has it's use, but not in SOLAR burn PvE strike weekAnyhow, would like to have a crack at the NF this week despite the rather crap modifiers, really want that IB v2. Stimps, Sims, anyone else up for it?

Finally got my 3 chars to 400, aside from finishing a few quests and getting Icebreaker I can't really see a lot more to do. I would still like to finish the KF and WotM raid but it's rare to see the numbers of people required on nowadays.
I suppose I should crack on with the stockpile of games and VR stuff I've accumulated till Destiny 2 arrives.

I'm all done, bar getting Ice Breaker. Still got a couple of NFs to run this week, so would be up for getting those done later on if anyone's about. Herck, even if I'm not visibly online, send me a PSN message as odds are I'll pick it up vi the app.
Had good fun blasting through VoG again last night been a while since we did it and we were all a little rusty, so took far too many tries to finally beat Atheon.

Still finding stuff to do and having fun playing as something other than the Titan. Warlock is second favourite and Hunter last on my list despite the quad jump thanks to 'dem Bones
Iron Banner starts tomorrow and it's Clash, a mode I've never played so that should be interesting. Sadly the weapons on offer are special and heavy and I just need a 400 1y to make 400 overall. Good infusion fodder to be had though I suppose
Nightfall was crap this week, hoping for better modifiers tomorrrow and some solar / arc burn on the heroics - need to finish that Book
Very small chance that the update tomorrow resets the Vendor stock so if there's something you want, grab it now if you feel like it ...

For anyone left, NF this week is "Sunless Cell" with these modifiers:
Epic
Specialist
Juggler
Airborne
Arc Burn
Zhalo, arc sniper & machine gun to boss, 4th Horseman for boss melting duties. Should be pretty straightforward I would have thought
Heroic strikes very similar:
Heroic
Arc burn
Specialist
Exposure

There's a lot of content which is pretty much irrelevant now, but the game has changed a lot in the last two and a bit years, so I'd struggle to find any one source in particular to recommend to new players.
This is a good start, though mainly geared towards players heading in to Rise of Iron (the last big expansion) with existing characters.

Any further questions, feel free to ask. There are many thousand combined hours of game time in this forum, and one of us is bound to be able to help at some point. Add me on PSN if you like, I'm not as active as I was but Destiny is my digital crack and every time I think I've weaned myself off it, I find an excuse to try it again, "just one more time". If I'm online, I'll usually be happy to help.

You will probably find the game overwhelming at first because you will get three years worth of content thrown at you and it can be difficult to work out where you're supposed to go when you first start out.
Fundamentally the game is quite basic though, with fun gunplay and mechanics meaning each class/subclass and weapons choices offer unique experiences.
Save the boosters for your alternate characters, if you choose to make them.

I have no idea how the game would lay out all the content at this point in the game, but I'd like to think you can't start the later DLC's until finishing the one before it, you probably can though, maybe it being too tough for your light level.
Either way you'll get a better experience now as the game has vastly improved.

I picked the collection up for £20 from Amazon on Black Friday, still haven't got around to playing it yet.
It looks like a pretty complex and involved game .. any good beginner guides out there that walk you into the game?
Definitely play through the "story" to develop your character and level rather than using the boosters as DuffMan said - you get to grips with everything that wayIt looks like a pretty complex and involved game .. any good beginner guides out there that walk you into the game?
It's not really a complicated game at all - start mission, shoot everything, equip any armour or guns that are better than you already have, unlock character's skills as you progress, rinse and repeat until level 40 (the maximum). Don't worry too much about perks on armour / guns until you get to level 40 and start to get legendary gear (purple stuff)
Or / and play against real people in the Crucible to also progress depending on your preference of PvE (player vs. environment / AI enemies) or PvP (player vs. people)
At level 40, then you start the grind to get the best gear with the best stats & perks, the best rolls (perks) on the guns you like to use, start to collect exotic guns and armour and increase your "light" level. You should be able to get to light level 365 (eventual all blue stuff max) and then 385 (eventual, easy to get, all purple stuff max) pretty quickly - the higher the light the more of the so-called end game content (higher level strikes, Nightfalls (harder strikes) and Raids (co-op team based larger missions)) you can then participate in to hopefully get better gear, etc, etc
Once you are there, it's down to you as to what you want to focus on - the road to the max light level of 400, gear collections, multiple gear / gun loadouts, multiple characters, developing the character sub-classes, vault space management or simply having a laugh with friends - the latter being the best part of the game

Thanks all for the suggestions .. will give it a go shortly and just follow the basic story through to get a feel whether or not I want to sink hundreds of hours into it ... I take it you can play co-op through the game, or at least parts of it? That was what I really liked about Borderlands. I'm not a big fan of getting whupped by teenagers who do nothing but game online in PvsP, as was the case in Halo2 days.
The entire game is essentially 3 player co-op, strikes (harder longer missions) have matchmaking so you always play with 2 others and raids (end game content) have no matchmaking but are designed to be played with 6 people.
The game is hugely social and honestly isn't really designed to be played lone wolf, I've played the entire game from launch with two other people and I can't imagine doing anything else. Yeah

Yes, the game really isn't at its best with a single player. You can enjoy it in fits and starts, but its only really with a fireteam that it comes alive, the six-man Raids being an example of not just Destiny, but video gaming in general at its finest.
A bold statement, perhaps, but one I think the game justifies in its strongest moments.

I very recently deleted one of my characters and began playing through the early missions from scratch so that I could play through with my nephew who started playing for the first time at Christmas.
Despite having played all the missions many, many times over in the thousands of hours (if only that were an exaggeration!) I have put into this game, I still found myself having fun and enjoying the levelling up process and being able to share the experience with my nephew made it a fresh experience somehow.
The game is certainly at it's best when played co-operatively but that isn't to say there are no challenges and no fun to be found for the solo player (there is always lots of grinding, bounties and quests to be done!)
One slightly Off topic word of warning: If you do choose to add Simianwonder to your friends list, he can be quite hard to get rid of

Good fun running through Crota's End tonight gents, even if the end result wasn't quite the Flawless Raider trophy we were after.
Not really sure Age of Triumph will do much to tempt me back long term; knowing that nothing of any significance is going to carry over to Destiny 2 does somewhat temper any enthusiasm I may have had to complete another record book for inconsequential rewards.
