I got some legendary gauntlets but they ended up getting scrapped for some ascendant shards.
From the Raid? eek

Those legendary gauntlets are the equivalent of exotics! They are better than normal legendary gauntlets as they can be upgraded to give you 30 light points (normal legendaries only go to 27), and as you need 120 light points across your 4 armour slots to get to level 30, you need those gauntlets to reach level 30.

Plus some gauntlets have added abilities that are useful in the Raid.

Oh well!! laugh

Ascendant energy and an uncommon (GREEN!!!!) flipping helmet.

I did get an exotic rocket launcher on a run with Youngs though.
Well, you only get the rewards once per week for each stage of the Raid, so you would only have got rewards today for drops you didn't get on Friday, plus you can use the energy to upgrade the rocket launcher (which looks quite useful). smile

Ah, that's ok then. My indignation is somewhat lessened.

This is the problem with the lack of explanation within the game. I heard of raid gear, but thought it would be labelled as such.

I didn't realise that glimmer and marks are capped, aside from the weekly cap. I did a bit of 'vanguarding' before I realised I wasn't getting paid!!

Destiny's explanation for this is that the game is not a simple first person shooter - it's supposed to be more than that, with lots of things in the game to explore, work out, learn and share with others.

For example, even now there's a chest in the raid that no-one has worked out how to open, so someone is going to have to work it out for themselves.

Anyway, a tip for everyone - it's generally not worth breaking down legendaries or exotics unless you have exact duplicates. There are situations where a slightly different weapon or piece of armour can give you an advantage and breaking down the gear only gives you two shards/energies regardless of how many you've piled into it to upgrade it.

Even with exact duplicates - let's say you have a level 27 Titan, you could then start a second titan from scratch, get it to level 20 and then use all of the weapons/armour from your first titan to take your second titan immediately to level 27. This will give you two opportunities to the do the weekly heroic, nightfall and raids and gain twice as many rewards per week. If you have duplicate items, it will stop you needing to swap as many items between characters.

In any case, definitely do not break down any legendary items you get in the raid!

Noted. Cheers!

I have been breaking down legendary/exotic gear to try and max out my Warlock. I don't think I'm committed enough to get multiple characters levelled up.

See my edit above - if you start a second character the same class as your current one, you only need to get them to level 20 (about 8 hours of game play) and then you can switch all your first character's armour and weapons onto your second using the vault, so you instantly take the second character from level 20 to whatever your level is on your first character.

That means you can earn 18 strange coins per week, plus get all the rewards x2 each week for the Nightfall, Raid etc.

I was saying to the boys earlier, I did the same thing with some raid gloves, got the after beating Templar then broke them down, only after I realised what an idiotic move.

I managed to do a full run of the raid tonight with some American dudes, they were good players and quite laid back, so I'm glad I got to complete it.

My reward for doing so? Shards and energy out of every chest. No weapons or armour.

The game is good, but this whole Random Number Generator reward system is broken.

The other side of the coin is, on patrol in cosmodrome earlier, I got 11 spin metal, ledge helmet engram, house banners and a blue chest plate from one chest!!

I think the random number generator just needs a bit of tweaking - the Nightfall strike works well. I think you're pretty much guaranteed at least as legendary for completing it.

You should be guaranteed at least two legendaries for completing the Raid.

Apologies guys - after all my talk of doing of taking on the raid at the weekend, family and friends conspired against me and I really only managed to be free and in the house for a few hours on Saturday afternoon.

Also, sorry again to Lovechild - you joined me and a friend on the weekly during a particularly frustrating time. My pal had been called away for a few minutes by his missus but I had no explantation for why he was away from his mic/controller. He eventually came back and revived me.

I was going to see if i could join the raid on Sunday, so i logged in at around midday to see if my connection to the Destiny servers was alright. Once again, i either couldn't get a particular strike to load or got booted out shortly thereafter. These days i only seem to get the 'BEE' error code, rather than the pet cemetery. The Destiny website says that bee means 'we don't know what the problem is, but it's probably your fault', or words to that effect, so no help there.

I'd say out of the last 5 attempts I've had at playing the game 1 worked fine, which was on Saturday night. Anyone else getting such a server disconnect rate?

I really like Destiny when it works, but at the moment my dancing at the end of strikes isn't celebrating a fight well fought, but celebrating the fact that i wasn't disconnected along the way. If it stays like this much longer I'll have to shelve the game frown

Tried to join for VoG at the weekend but I think all all the slots were full. Looks like you guys had a blast though (except for the stingy rewards)

I did manage to join another VoG run with S99ANE but not sure if the other players were PH'ers? At any rate, no one seemed interested in reviving on that run and you ain't going to finish VoG without revives so after spending the 10th time sat watching my blue bob as I waited in vain for someone to revive me, I dropped out of that one.

On another note I have two exotic bounties running, one of which needs 500 kills with void damage guns in the crucible. After spending an hour playing crucible and wondering why my total wasn't going up I realised I don't actually have any void weapons, what I thought were void are in fact Arc damage weapons! banghead How silly did I feel?

Anyway desperately trying to pick up a Void weapon and realised they seem to be pretty rare. I wish they'd hurry up and get trading working in this game.

Thanks, I'll double check that. I thought it was open because it always used to be. Actually come to think of it that was on the PS3 so maybe it isn't on the PS4. I should add that I'm not good with these sorts of things at all (if that wasn't already obvious).

Great team-work in the VoG yesterday afternoon, fellas. Thoroughly enjoyed it. I had started to get a little weary with the same old strikes, but this adds a whole new dimension. Before yesterday, I had been into the VoG without a mic and therefore had no clue as to what was going on.

Particular highlights included me thinking that I could avoid being marked by hiding... at one point I sat down behind a pillar hehe, one or two us rocket-ing ourselves when surrounded by the individual shields, the en masse "get to Speckle" panic and of course, Bokka dancing given ANY chance.

Of course, we're all likely to jump into the VoG whenever we get the chance to during the week etc, but I think a Sunday afternoon run works quite well- killing some usually dead time. Well that's the case for me anyway.

I'll happily start the same next Sunday at around the same time, if you guys are around and up for it. smile

ps, yoga is fcensoreding hard but a great spectator sport biggrin

Thanks to "Rob from Sheffield" for the runs yesterday afternoon/evening, sorry i cant remember your in-game name!

This game is getting a little repetitive for me though, i have Thief coming on rental so hopefully playing something else for a week or so will re-light my fire for the game, its getting stale!

Yeah, it was good fun and nice to do something different! Count me in, I might bring the warlock if I can get him up to lvl 26 or 27
