I must be dim.... I can see the icon for Destiny 2 Beta in the store under Whats Hot. Clicking on it only seems to take me to the various game bundles to order. I have already pre-ordered Destiny 2 plus expansion pass but I cant for the life of me see anything that lets me download the beta....

If you've ordered a physical copy of the game (i.e. not through PSN), I think it works like this:

1) You get emailed a code by the retailer
2) You enter that code on the Bungie site
3) Bungie email you a code to enter into the PSN store
4) You enter the code at the PSN store
5) You download the Beta from the PSN store

Don't quote me on that though.

Has anyone done the above successfully yet?

How have you started this? Just switched my PS on and started Destiny expecting a download but opened as normal.

It has done a system update.
You need to go to the game's page on the store, scroll down through the screens until you get to Demos. It's in there.

You can also click the icon on a friend's page should they be either in the game (to take a look at the menu/listen to the score) or them having recently been in it. I did that- clicked the icon and it took me straight to the download. smile

All I did was redeem the code from the retailer on the Bungie website, then checked under 'my downloads' where it asked me to select my console and region, at which point it gave me a PSN store code. Entered as normal in the store on PS4 and downloaded.

Are you sure it was 12Gb SIngh? Mine seemed to be done in just a few minutes??!

Thanks Speckle - when I entered the pre-order code on the site yesterday it said it would email me the code.

Just went back to the site today where it says "Redeem a code" and it now has the option to enter in the console type and region. Selected PS4 Europe and it then showed me the PSN code for the BETA download. Should be all set now. smile

It's a small initial download but then downloads the rest in the background. As you can't use the Beta yet it makes no difference but if the Beta was live I assume you'd have to wait for more of it to download before you could go to the social space or planets etc.

Not just you, I couldn't find it at first either and in the end I "ordered" the beta from the Playstation Store website and sent it to my PS4 that way. However, as others have said, if on the PS4 you navigate to the "Destiny 2 - Standard Edition" page and then click down, eventually you come to a Demos section and the beta is listed there

This assumes you've ordered digitially direct from PSN else you have to redeem your code that you got from the retailer via Bungie.net which then gives you a PSN download code apparently

So, I don't need to actively initiate any further download, it'll just crack on when the PS4 is on then. Sweet.

As far as I know yeah, I just checked my download list and it was downloading the rest.

4K streaming probably ain't going to happen but, Netflix HD streams perfectly over about 10mb.

Aaaaannnnnnnd to just close off this topic, fibre has been installed and...

3.5mb heheeekrage

Distance to the cabinet that is feeding fibre is >2000m and so, according to the openreach engineer, I am better off on ADSL. Asking him to explain in extreme simple terms rendered this: ADSL- long and slow, Fibre- short and fast. Got it. FML, but, got it.

He did install a new faceplate which saw a marginal speed gain. When back to ADSL, I'm hoping to hit the heady heights of 6.0mb maybe 6.1mb. party

I played the Beta over the weekend. It didn't grab me like the first beta for D1 did but I'll get to that.

I liked what I saw of D2, graphics are nice, gunplay and gameplay still feels relatively the same which is a good thing.

However, I did the opening level, and the Strike, then turned it off and didn't play again. Is there no open world in D2? In the D1 beta I played endlessly because I liked exploring the world and running around with rando's and all that. The Strike in the D2 beta was fun but I didn't really feel like playing it over and over again (I was never really into Crucible either).

The beta for D2 is a lot more limited than the original Destiny.

Some people complained that the D1 beta allowed you too much of the game and people played it to death.

D2 seems very much more of the same compared to D1, I'm still undecided as to whether or not I'm going to purchase it. The raids were the best bit of D1 but boy did the whole game get a bit repetitive by the time I gave up on it.

Every team needs a red bar warrior who runs in to the room 10 times as you never know which entry was the real one. By the time you have figured it out, he is behind you with a shotty......

It's only taken two years and eleven months, but finally unlocked Flawless Raider trophy this afternoon. That seems a fitting way to wrap up my time with Destiny.

For the sake of a handful of Salvage matches, worth securing platinum surely? Happy to blast through that with you if you are at a loose end

I'll jump in on that too if you fancy it? I like the Salvage game mode and I like to think I'm pretty good at it.
