I managed to get 3 hits with the sword at one point though which did a surprising amount of damage.
More practice and better timing and we will have that sussed, at least we managed to stay alive until he enraged.
I think patience as well; if the timing doesn't work, the boomers spawn just as we need to take his shields down or he's the other side then stay alive and start again. We wiped a few times because we tried to take his shields down and got murdered by the boomers and also because we killed the boomers but didn't quite get his shield down.
I suppose some of that will be offset by the higher damage of more 31s though.

It does , tried a solo effort this morning on the nightfall and couldn't even get by the bit with the 3 phases. I think we should have a weapons of light shield on the steps for people to take the sword bearer down quick and be protected from boomers, while two people with IB take them down. Crotas shield should fly down with weapons of light as well letting us get the two hits in.

Yup, I also think we need to think about our class perks too. I think Warlocks using Sunsinger should have Song of Flame equipped rather than holding onto that second life with Fireborn. If you die the oversoul is still summoned even if you regen so it's only saving a 30 second revive. SoF could help to give us more titan bubbles,golden gun for the boomers/sword bearer, grenade spam for the boomers etc. Just a thought but perhaps worth trying. I away for a week as of tomorrow so I'm not going to get another crack until the next refresh. I hope you all manage to put him down and keep me updated on how you all get on and what tactics you used.
Am I the only one that considers that a valid tactic?
Surely Bungie expected people to camp in that room, hence making it harder with the shrieker and wizard/knight spawns.
I always though a 'cheese' is to use a scenery glitch or exploit some game mechanic with an unintended outcome.
I can't see how else you could do that nightfall without camping in that room. If you can then fair play to you, but please share your tactics
If you camp in that room on a normal strike though then you need to have a quiet chat with yourself....

The ledge at the back left offers a lot of protection for one person and I'm sure I've seen someone do the weekly from that corner (with two in front, behind the big boulder)
Interesting update tonight. Raid armour has been upgraded so we can get to level 31 without shards.
I really, really am lucky in this game. As some of you know I got another icebreaker v1.0 from the raid chest 2 days ago.
Tonight Gav invited me into crotas end to get the first chest and it gave me another icebreaker v2.0.
First nightfall of the evening had bagged me my first godzillahorn v2.0
2 more nightfall to run before I'm off on my hols.....

Thanks for all the help tonight. Managed 3 nightfalls, 3 weeklys, 3 dailies and 2 half runs through crotas end (that third one was so close)
Had some good loot. Icebreaker, gjallahorn, symbiote helm, glass house helm, titan has full raid gear and just need one set of raid boots for my hunter.
Oh, and the 'horn is nearly maxed already
Well enjoying the game now I'm back on. I gather the updates have helped me shoot from level 22 to almost 26 in a week. And it's not like I'm playing every evening.
A bit pissed I cannot find out why mu kinect or OE mic that you connect to the controller will not work
I've checked it hears me in party chat. But when I come to play the game nothing. I have checked settings and the only thing I have not done is checked it with other games yet.
I could hear Tank through my surround sound but he could not hear me. when I used my mic it then went. and nothing.
Apart from that loving the game and getting into the new strikes etc...
I have now got a legendary fusion rifle which is good and much better than what I had before. But I still pic up lots of uncommon or rare guns and not much more.

I got an insurmountable skullfort helmet for my Titan in the nightfall, does anyone have any opinions on whether it's worth using as my Exotic rather than fully upgraded v2.0 Armamentarium?
It feels wrong to shard it but not sure I can be bothered to use it on my current titan If I ever get round to creating a second character I think I'd go for something different so there seems little point in keeping it.
I also prefer having two grenades!
