We managed to get to crota in just under an hour. Couple of wipes on each phase, it felt harder but a nice progressive increase from normal. No revives either, as expected.
Then onto crota :/
The jump up in difficulty is ridiculous.
No chalice to regen health.
A gatekeeper spawns in the pit, I can only presume to stop players camping in the lower corridor.
When you kill the boomers (ultras) a hallowed wizard spawns instead of a sword knight.
And apparently, when crotas health gets to around 10% he automatically engages!
We had about 7 or 8 attempts before we gave up for the night. We did manage to take a good chunk of health off him on one attempt but it's just so easy to die in this encounter now.
I have to admit I was quite disappointed with the raid last night. It felt a bit cheap to be honest. We're now in a position that you NEED to have exotic armour with the perk to regen health on orb pick up, and/or use SUROS or Red Death as your primary. Otherwise you have no possible way to regenerate your health (the boomers will put you down with 2 shots from full health). This also assumes everyone is generating orbs!
Hunters need to be using Mask of the Third Man (mine is still on the old light level
)
Titans need to be using An Insurmountable Skullfort
Warlocks need to use Apotheosis Veil
Without these you are at a huge disadvantage. I expect Xur to be selling these or exotic helm engram on Friday. And even Gjallahorn!!!
Wouldn't mind having more time with this checkpoint tonight to see how much further we can get.
Loot? Shards/energy and 2 pieces of armour (why the hell is hard mode giving out armour?)

Was a good crack and ridiculously hard, watched a few Crota battles on twitch last night - damn damn damn, it's tough and nearly impossible (if that's possible).
It was quite funny to see even the pro gamers fall out over deaths and certain points.
Also watched a team cheese the lamps and the bridge within about 15mins.
I may struggle tonight, but the wife is away Friday night, so I'm gonna smash it out the park!

I was thinking after I logged off last night about tactics for the crota encounter, and whether the boomers can hit you if you are standing on the window ledge in front of the crystal room.
Apparently they cant, and quite a few strategies coming out this morning are suggesting this is the best tactic.
Might be worth giving this a go, at least until Bungie decide they don't want you to play from there and give the gatekeeper a hive boomer instead of a sword!!!

I need to get my strange coins for Xur's arrival.
I'll need to do the nightfall and the weekly tomorrow night, tried to solo the nightfall last night, but got booted after the 3 stage locked door room with an anteater code. I was MIGHTILY PISSED OFF! As it took me ages to get through that lot. I didn't feel like wasting my time again. At least if I get kicked when someone else is on I can join back in where I left off.I need to get my strange coins for Xur's arrival.

Appreciate the assistance Phil/The Trash, (I stand back and you guys kill them) last night, didn't quite get to level 27 as no Leggie armour drops, but I got another Leggy secondary (that's 3 now, all fusion rifles).
I managed to clear the Wakening on my own, pretty pleased with that as it's difficult for a level 26
I also had to go just afterwards, again a nagging wife and a 06:30 cycle ride to work means I need to be in bed at 10ish.
I'm assuming somewhere in my Xbone packaging there must be a headset, I'll dig it out to get some comms working for next time.
