Insight into a couple hours on the lvl 35 PoE below.

We killed Skolas but missed out on diffusing the mines by a fraction of a second, got the Grimoire card (and someone got the arc hand cannon!) but no completion, it was also pretty late and I had to go off so all progress lost, I really wish there were CPs! So frustrating.

Getting to him is pretty straight forward, especially if you've got a Defender Titan and a Blade dancer in the fireteam (for the capture objectives).
The end boss before Skolas is pretty easy. It's a very tough Servitor with a primary weapon buff. If you go to the left platform on the fallen arena you can sit up there, he doesn't really damage you and although mobs spawn right next to you they tend to wander into the map proper. We got by having a bubble on the ledge at all times and whenever a captain wandered up we'd shotgun him back down. The boss takes a lot of damage, more than Skolas even. Took us about an hour to get to him in total with only 2-3 wipes.

As far as I know the 40 second strategy is the only one I've seen work for Skolas. Even so it takes a lot more prep and co-ordination than you'd imagine and a bit of luck. You need to have a weapons bubble (although you could probably do it without), full rockets (Gjallahorn isn't essential, it's solar burn so Hunger works well too) and a synth ready to pop once you've fired off your 7. The only thing that can go wrong is his movements. Staggering him stops him teleporting on you but there doesn't seem a 100% surefire method to stagger him, certainly lots of rockets seem to work but we also had the issue of all running out and using a synth at the same time, giving him the respite to close in on us. I don't really think there's a way you can intentionally get around this, you can't co-ordinate singular rockets when you're firing so many. The times it did work well though were when someone popped a bubble in the corner as I was taking down the ghost servitor, by the time I turned, went and got weapons of light and started shooting they'd already fired 2-3 rockets.
Jump and fire, don't strafe, the splash damage will get you in a shot or two.

Also, while we were waiting (synth cool down!) we would just start the round and mess around in the arena trying to get comfortable with the mechanics. In the end we could survive for a good amount of time. Stick to the edges jump around a lot and use the map's cover and you can stay alive for a bit. Shrapnel Launcher Captains can OHK you if they're close enough and Vandal snipers take two shots, Ghost Servitors have an attack but rarely use it, instead going invis and running off instead. Skolas behaviour doesn't follow any set pattern, he literally homes in on the last person to shoot at him. We played with confusing him into changing direction between the three of us (in kind of an L shape instead of staggering him from the one location) but found that we were much more susceptible to getting picked off by Skolas and mobs, especially in the tunnel near the entrance.

Sorry that I couldn't help with a 32 as promised Antimus. May get time tomorrow or Sunday.

Managed the level 34 PoE with Glenda and Rage last night, and it was bloody tough.

The cabal level and defusing the mines gave us the most problems. Must have been 45 minutes on that alone. We found the rest a bit easier, relatively.

We also found the titan bubbles essential. Both Glen and Rage ran titans, and I was trying my best to feed them orbs with my hunter (finally found a use for alpha lupi).

I've also never considered Gjallahorn absolutely critical in previous content, but just nice to have to make it easier. It did seem like last night that we were using them as primary weapons through most of it, again they seemed essential. Just mask sure you have plenty of synths.

And what's with the random teleporting around the map? Is it an anti cheese mechanic?

Didn't bother using the weapon core for an auto rifle. Which begs the question, does the available armour piece and weapon change weekly?
I thought 34 wasn't too bad, blade dancers help a lot for objectives!

What did you make of the final 'floor is lava' boss? I quite enjoyed that, found armour of light to be better than blessings for it too.

Yes Varyks has full sets of weapons and armour, only sells one of each but that changes weekly or you can go Judgements Chance for a random weapon/armour roll.

I've just started playing the trial (Got my Xbone last week).

Very impressed, but i've no idea what i'm doing. Just got the hyperdrive thing. How long does the trial last, and what features are missing?

The lava floor mechanic was easy to work around but as a hunter I obviously struggled to stay in the air look good enough. Without blessings of light it was difficult.

In hindsight I'd wish I'd kept the etheric light. I've used it on old raid armour to up my level to 33.5 but if the armour is changing weekly then seems a waste. Just means a couple more weeks to get to 34, and use the etheric light in my weapons instead.

Do you get it back if you shard the item?

My first run I thought I could jump on something to stay alive but it's when your feet touch anything.

I don't know about Etheric light but I doubt it to be honest.

My thinking was that if I could get to lvl 34 I could do lvl 35 PoE and use the extra drops to then level up weapons and other characters.

Not sure if many of us got a trial, pretty sure we all made a purchase so not sure what your missing out on?

Pretty sure I saw Destiny for £25 last week in the Xbox store? but then you'd have to pay extra for the DLC, which is essential imo.

Play the single missions, level up, level up and then level up some more.

Very good for PvP I think. I've not used it much in PvE.

I think I had more fun ranking it up than any other weapon. It really is a cool. I think it's a reference to Stephen Kings Dark Tower novels too.

It's supposed to be good in PvP but I don't play PvP much at all and to use it I'd have to change playstyle too much (you really shouldn't aim down sights with it).

In that case I think I will defiantly buy it. Only to see what it's like for myself :P Might be useful with the increased damage shoot

Xur is in the reef if you didn't know. Turn right as soon as you land, down the ramp and there is a new door that's opened in front of you.

Few comments:-

The trial version is roughly the same as the beta - you can do the first few story missions and get your charachter up to level 7 or 8. The game is a "normal" FPS up to level 20, you do story missions and level up and get better gear.

After level 20 it's all about getting better equipment and doing "end game" levels. There are PvP levels or PvE levels. Generally these need teams of 3 (or 6) so if you get the full game it's worth teaming up with people on here.

Ultimately you can get up to level 34 and have a lot of fun playing the 3 person and 6 person missions....if you like grinding levels for gear!

The Last Word - its a "fun" gun in PvE, and has a very quick kill time in PvP. At close range it's around 0.5 seconds in PvP versus 1+ seconds for most guns (excepting shotguns).

It's anti-ADS - you can use it at range but it's much better at close range and hipfiring. Impact is really high so it staggers like crazy. It's very similar in use to a shotgun, just get close and unload a full clip on a shielded minotaur - they're gone.

I finally unloaded my engrams and spent some of my pocket money:-

I had a lengendary engram that dropped gloves and another that dropped the 55 allfate pules rifle
I had a blue engram (out of 30+) decrypt into a purple - a chest piece for my titan
I got 3 cryptarch packages - I think one or two dropped legendary stuff - a gun and maybe a chest for my hunter
I got 2 vanguard packages - one gave me another legendary gun and one gave me nothing.

All in I got 3 legendary bits of armour, plus 4 legendary guns:-
55all fate - vanguard pulse rifle
One one synthesete - bought this vanguard scout rifle and re-rolled it to get firefly.
The culling - a peashooter type void machine gun
The geo D6 sniper rifle - my first (I think) legendary void sniper

My hunter has jumped from 28 to 30 (I bought two helmet engrams from Xur and got Achiolyphage and Mask of the TM) and my titan has jumped from 25 to 28.

It took me over an hour to do it all and I still haven't touched a single HoW level yet!
