Managed to get the hunter exotic handcannon over the weekend, Ace of Spades.

I think it's my new Fatebringer. It has Third Eye, Firefly, Perfect Balance and Maverick (precision kills move one round from reserve into the magazine). Hits hard and has good range and reload.

The same weapon smith quest gave me the hunter legendary sniper Stillpiercer. Same ROF and impact as 100 Yard Stare and does void damage.

Spent a bit of time levelling up my alts over the weekend. Titan is now at 292, and Warlock at Warlock is at 265.

Pro tip for levelling alts - the Boolian Gemini scout rifle is a level 30 exotic so give it to your alts. 290 weapon straight off the bat.

And high light level equipment can be infused across character classes. If you get high level light drops on your main that you don't need, vault them for your alts.

I've gone flat out on one character. Not even logged into anything else yet. If you had to pick between Warlock and Hunter what would you go for? I get the impression that Hunters are like Y1 Titans now, immensely practical but not as much fun.

Black Spindle will play a big part in ranking up specials on any alts. I've used it to duplicate other exotics and get them up to 300 (so the pending patch won't downgrade them), just in case I get a decent drop that I want to rank up. So my vault has 6 x 4th Horsemen at 300 (amongst a few others) in the hope of helping alts or future special drops. Probably spent a good 40k glimmer on it but it's a great way to speed level your special slot. It's expensive but there won't be a way to duplicate 300s again (or when the patch drops I can buy a spindle and upgrade it back to 300!).

Does seem a bit of a waste now though (at least for my main character) as it's all about the (higher than 300) raid gear.

It didn't really take that long to get my titan up to level 40. Only a few hours in reality, and if I had realised you can infuse armour across characters I reckon I could have got my light level up much quicker.

All three new subclasses play very differently but are all good fun. I think they all compliment each other very well too making it easier now to chain supers than before. Though haven't maxed the other two out yet obviously.

Having been using the Nightstalker primarily it feels good as a hunter to have an excellent team focussed super for once, much like Defender and Sunsinger. I use the perks Black Hole and Light of the Pack and you are literally an orb machine, especially when used with the exotic helm Skyburners Annex (heavy weapon kills have a chance to spawn orbs).

Tethered shot + sword/rockets + Skyburners Annex = Orb Bukakke

Also the perk Keen Scout is easily one of the most useful in the game. Gives you the ability to sprint and sneak faster (feels similar to having a MIDA equipped), the motion tracker is the enhanced weapon perk version that highlights resources and chests in the vicinity, and when you aim at a target it places a cross hair to mark it. So if it runs for cover you can still see where it went. Excellent perk, makes patrolling easy.

I might do a hunter then. Have Thursday afternoon off and am working from home on Friday so seems like a good time to do it.

I did get a 310 Obsidian Mind at the weekend though....

If you just do a few strikes/court of Orxy' on your main, decrypt and bung everything in your vault I bet it'd make a big difference to your alts. Legendary Marks are account wide aren't they?

A lot of people on reddit have been bhing about the Mouldering Shard bonus on Oryx, that it has a chance to drop 2 x Mouldering Shards. I can appreciate that if you did it you could theoretically end up with 4 x Mouldering Shards having lost 20 but I still think it's worth the risk and the weapon drop rates seem much better than raids past.

Is anyone having a go tonight? I'll be around but probably not long enough for a crack at the raid.

I have 22 mouldering shards at the moment but not sure we'll finish Oryx tonight before reset. We had a short go last night at the sisters and whilst we had the mechanics worked out it was getting late before we could have a proper go.

This raid really doesn't take any prisoners IMO. You can't carry anyone, everyone has to be on form as they have specific jobs to do.

And I just realised that there is a new achievement for flawless in the new raid. Hahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!

With the sisters and Oryx, if you mess up the order you wipe. The problem with this is that you lag on the platforms, if you're on 3 and you see 2 jump up, it only counts toward the order when you get that blue mist rising from it. We had instances yesterday when we had people jump up in the right order but it didn't register correctly. Not game breaking but it's worth watching each other and calling it out.

You can't carry people but there are still low risk jobs to dish out (clearing ads at the Sisters and Orxy for example). I think when everyone knows what they are doing it'll be easier to do flawless than VOG. Maybe after another expansion and a bigger difficulty gap anyway.

I think it's better. You can get through VOG with a few people comfortable using relics and for Crota you just needed a hunter/swordbearer.

I also like that there are no cheeses and no game breaking glitches which we had plenty of both of in VOG and Crota's End. It feels like someone actually tested it before release!

Quick one - I don't think there is a new flawless achievement...the guy that did that raid had just not done any flawless raid before. I hang around Neogaf a bit and those guys are just crazy good. Unstable was doing lots of trials carries to get pretty much anyone and everyone to Mercury. DrDrizzay ended up helping people kill skolas for their year 1 triumphs, I think he had around 100 Skolas kills by the end.

Classes - I don't really like the new warlock class. It's quite good for clearing trash mobs but you have to get quiet close to use it and it's quite easy to get killed along the way.... It doesn't really help the team that much. The hunter bow and the titan melting point really look like they help DPS bosses.

I think the Hunter LOOKs the coolest but I don't have the twitch reflexes to shadestep around the map invisi-grenading myself whilst sniping adds :-)

Titan looks next best - hammers seem to do some proper damage and you can tank damage along the way.

I really really want the ace of spades though - it looks awesome but I assume only Hunters can equip it?

I might be on tonight, but not until lateish (about 10ish)...I'll see who's on doing what...

Does anyone else have any exotic swords yet? The solar one is awesome for non-boss majors...just wrecks!

I had the back in the saddle quest again from the gunsmith for reaching level 3 and got a Auto rifle fabian Strategy.

And spent ages grinding the Exotic Sword. Madness having to get 500 kills with a titan Void ability. On 350 and want to get the rest done tonight before the armsday order drops tomorrow. Having only my Melee and grenade is taking it's time

I know it probably wasn't widely known by then and you only thought that you wanted to have a 'big purple sword' but people knew about the exotic upgrades early on and picking a void one for a class that has a predominantly defensive void subclass does seem a bit masochistic. Saying that though I'm still on the crucible kills bit!

Fabian Strategy is the Titan specific weapon. Keep it, it only drops once.

It was part of the gunsmith quest.

From memory you had to dismantle 10 rare or legendary snipers to get the Stillpiercer.

For the next part of the quest you have to dismantle 10 rare or legendary hand cannons for the Ace of Spades.

Its worth noting that I had 2 spare legendary hand cannons in my vault, I sharded them first and that was all I needed to complete the quest.

Went up another rank with Eris last night and she gave me a new quest. The first part of which is telling me to finish the undying mind strike on heroic. It's put a new level 41 strike on my map, much like the old Thorn bounty. The quest is a yellow one so I presume it's for an exotic? Has anybody else got to do it because it doesn't matchmake, even though it says it does.
