Just taking the description literally 'Raid and collect 3 exotic weapons' I've done. Admittedly they weren't from the raid but I'm guessing someone hasn't described this step properly.

The weapon parts that drop in the raid are also legendary in colour.

I've got a free pass Friday night, all day Saturday, probably Saturday night and probably most of Sunday day(wife's away for the weekend). Just set a time and I'll do it with you. Can just lfg it if we're short on numbers. I'm pretty comfortable with most of it but haven't had a go at relic holding for Oryx yet.

I think I'm the only person on here that's completed the raid from start to finish so I guess I should be in a team of my own..... Team Simo is now recruiting (but lets be honest, I only really need myself, you losers just have to bask in my glory). Any takers?
Meanwhile on Team Simo........

Tank, yeah it's daft but it's probably easier and less painful than giving away 3 x raid exotics! Not well explained though in the quest.

Phil, calcified fragments work like the golden chests, you don't actually collect them in your inventory or give them away. They're a collectable. They all just add up.

Remal, this was put on reddit as the best method of farming void kills; https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/3...

Easier than patrolling and should make it much quicker. Don't suppose you have an old armamentarium in your vault do you? 2 x grenades would really help you.

Innocent, make sure you are at least light level 290 first. Below that and you really will be struggling in the raid.

And a high impact sniper is pretty much a must for the majority of it.

We've been struggling to put enough time into the raid over the last few weeks. Even when we do get a team together it's normally quite late and we have only just managed a single checkpoint on some occasions due to time.

I'm pretty confident that we can get through to Oryx quite quickly now. But you never know how the jumping puzzles will go biggrin

If you look at your Grimoire each fragment has a name and the whole collection is supposed to give the story of how the Hive were created and how Oryx came about. In case anyone wanted to know lol

285 - not a single year 2 sniper though! I may have to use my marks and purchase one

Get a gunsmith order in today and collect it tomorrow.

Ghost aside, marks are usually better used for infusions.

I've developed a bit of a suspicion since the discovery of Black Spindle, so bear with me.

Back in July we had the announcement of 'Weapon Tuning 2.0', in which they mentioned that a lot of weapons were getting nerfed, of particular note to everyone was Ice Breaker, Black Hammer and Gjallahorn.

Ice Breaker was getting an increase in ammo recovery time to its 'No Backpack' perk.

Black Hammer was getting changes to it's 'White Nail' perk.

Gjallahorn was getting a damage reduction to it's 'Wolfpack rounds' perk.

Since TTK dropped pretty much all of these weapons have become obsolete. I know I've never equipped them since and I can't be the only one, so it has me questioning why did they even bother nerfing them.

Now we've discovered Black Spindle and found it's essentially an exotic version of Black Hammer with exactly the same 'revised White Nail' perk.

Remember the reasons they gave for nerfing it - 'While technically not an exotic, this weapon was chased as it if were. Currently it is the only sniper rifle that is more capable of ending a PvE boss faster than Ice Breaker'. But we all now know it's currently useless.

It's got me wondering whether we will see 'No Backpack' and 'Wolfpack rounds' on new exotics as well. I just cannot see the point Bungie putting the effort in to nerf these perks otherwise. Even if you were just starting Destiny from scratch you can now level so quickly that you'll have green weapons with a higher light level than these original exotics at 170 quite soon.

Was going to mention Lost to Light as another hope of innocent getting a decent sniper rifle.

I've been keeping one of everything Y1 just in case but bungie doing things without thinking them through wouldn't be a new phenomenon.

I don't see how it fits though. Why have an identical weapon with a different name and exotic rather than legendary? Why not just patch Black Hammer into a Y2 exotic that drops from Crota at Y1 or lost to light at Y2? How would that translate when bringing back icebreaker and Gjallahorn?

I do like it how it is, there's no right and wrong weapons yet. Maybe there will be when a few more exotics drop but I think the balance is just right (although I've not picked up a hand cannon in ages). You're right that something isn't apparent yet though.

Hmm interesting theory...I hope it's true! smile

Quite often bungie seem to operate like any other big company I.e. Different departments don't talk to each other. It wouldn't surprise me if the weapon balancing team hadn't talked too much to the TTK people and they just carried out their remit to balance all weapons. Almost "for posterity" if you like...

IMHO bungie still consider those perks and weapons OP, icebreaker in particular seems to open up all sorts of cheese spots that they hadn't anticipated. I think they will be quite wary of bringing them back in year 2...i hope they do though!

Gjallarhorn still works on the big taken bosses in patrol mode by the way. I used a double clip to take one down solo. Apparently they count as year 1 enemies.

I also saw a video of someone swapping to year 1 boots with heavy ammo perk, using a synth, then swapping back to their proper year 2 boots and not losing ammo... Worth trying!

Simo - happy to call in! What services do I need to provide to you and your better half in return!?

was thinking Remal could have Team Gaping Hole, to qualify you have to have fallen in every hole in the Abyss on a single run through

HAHA fk off . I only bounced down 2 holes when learning Crota

Now Edd trying to fall off every ship in the New Raid I felt was much better effort than my few silly gaping hole jumps

st! I just had a terrible thought... Imagine if in hard mode taken snipers spawn in on the ship jumping section... Or taken phalanx with bouncy Shields ride on each ship...

If I was bungie I would absolutely do that....

Anyway looks like I might be joining team gaping hole on Friday night at Simo's....

The perks were OP but the weapons are currently not. I can't see anyone using Ice Breaker to cheese anything at the moment.

Whilst going through the various parts of the raid I've been wondering what each section would be like if you had year 2 versions of those weapons. There is a lot of sniping going on in most sections. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if this new raid was used as a basis for the weapon nerfs.

Could you imagine how quickly Golgaroth would go down if White Nail was the old version. And perhaps No Backpack was just regenerating too quickly and proving to be too efficient in the raid.

Perhaps I'm wrong but I still can't see why the effort to nerf all of this without there being a future use for the perks. It's worth rereading that update with the knowledge you now have.

Yeah I really hope so... But then why reuse the perks at all? They could have made similar ones with new names?

Black spindle would make more sense if it was called white thread.. (although nowhere near as cool).

We'll just have to wait and see, but I hope we get Wolf pack on a launcher!

What does everyone think about the new tower shop and micro transactions!?

as long as it's for stuff that doesn't effect gameplay then it's not a big deal. Slippery slope and all that though, the cynic in me thinks if sales are st then they'll say 'we had to start selling weapon packs to make up for it' or if sales are great it'll be 'there was a market for selling weapon packs'.

I have cluster bombs on the raid launcher (apparently very lucky!), really good with the Taikonaut (helmet that gives tracking). Launchers (along with hand cannons) seem to have lost a lot of punch though. I tried using a 294 truth on Golgoroth during the first week and it was doing under 20k damage per rocket. Consider a shotgun can get 40k and a few snipers can do 100K+. Think a Heavy Machine Gun is more practical now.
