I haven't even been in to a hard mode Oryx raid yet!! So want to start getting in to that!
I've got really disillusioned with the game. The grind is much, much worse than year 1. Complete the raid and you have a chance of raid armour or weapons, shards etc. It's the fact that they also drop at random levels. So you can have anything drop between 300 and 310, it's complete bonkers, run a raid and complete it using a 304 guardian and end up with stuff all at 300, it should be 310 drops.
I've not found the grind to be as bad.
I've got my Hunter up to 302 with only a little grind. Ok it helped that I put a 308 dealbraker on to him, 306 1000 yard St- and 310 Exotic sword. But on the first run at the raid with my Hunter dropped a 306 chest piece. up from my 297 I had before the raid

the 310 artifact for completing the taken wars quests and exotic sword at 310 are the only 300+ items you get for non raiding when you're under 300. They're very useful for giving you a lift.
Even so, 295+ is easily raid territory. Even if you're on your own without much time just join a group looking for 1 or 2 at the totems, Warpriest, Golgoroth, Sisters or Oryx (all where loot drops). If they're only asking for 1 or 2 then chances are they know each other and will have a decent go at it. Even if not it'll be pretty obvious if they are useless then bail as soon as.
Oryx on hard is still pretty time consuming but everything else shouldn't take long.
I'm going to be one of those disappearing off to Fallout 4 soon I think. Y2 has given Destiny a good reboot but I think one of the reasons it was so popular in Y1 was because there weren't any huge next gen releases and there are a good 3 or 4 coming up.

Sounds like you had fun! :-)310 is not *that* high - I am 310 ;-) There are only around 190 people at 317 though and apparently around 20 or so at 318 and 1 person at 319.
They were probably doing VoG for an exotic quest - I won't say too much in case of spoilers...but you'll see the jumping puzzle again if you do the quest! ;-)
They were also excited because they remember how hard it was to kill Aetheon at the time - the harpies were a one hit kill and anyone dying was a wipe...it normally took 3 or 4 cycles of portals to be able to do enough damage on him. Now with sleeper simulants they can knock big chunks off him in one shot.
Universal remote is cool - but a bit of a novelty gun (as is NLB).
What light level are you now? You could probably be able to take on Oryx by now!? Spend strange coins on "3 of coins" and year 2 exotics to start building up your collection. It's really worth noting that exotic engrams can decrypt at 310, once you are above 300...so once you get 1 or 2 exotics for your char (at either 280 or 290 light) just keep storing the engrams until you get above 300...then you can pop a few and either keep them as 310's or infuse them into something else to get it to 310.
Phil - the grind can be a pain - if you're 300 or over just go straight to HM...it's virtually identical up to daughters and you will get more chance of better drops. Aim to get to say...311...for tackling HM oryx and then stop worrying about light. Trying to grind past 311 is just going to be infuriating so don't try it :-)
Personally I want to get a HM Oryx kill, so that I can "tick the box", and then I'm done. I can just play for fun then and actually play some other games!
Simo - being slightly pedantic - Trials gear from the gold bounty (not that hard to do) drops at 300-310 so you can make it over 300 without raiding....but you need a cheerful mindset to know you're going to get hammered for 10 games or so to get your loot :-) I'd say it's around 90 minutes or so to get the gold bounty...maybe slightly longer if you're really terrible at PvP.
What light are you up to now?
I'm 292 light now I think, it's a slow process building any more levels from here, so I'll be looking to do a lot more raiding. I've got a quest for completing a nightfall strike and one for completing the Kings Fall raid, so I'll be looking to get those ticked off.
At the moment though I'm struggling just to get on Destiny, I keep getting a fking error message when trying to log in.
Where will Destiny 2 go? There will almost certainly be a sequel and I for one, cannot fking wait. There is life in Destiny for me yet, but I wonder about the new locations, enemies and weapons we might see in future installments. As far as I'm concerned, Destiny is the best concept for a shooter I've ever come across in the way it sucks you in and makes you want to play more and more.

As far as I'm concerned, Destiny is the best concept for a shooter I've ever come across in the way it sucks you in and makes you want to play more and more. For the next bit of content, they really need to extend the gameplay loop of collecting kit and getting to max light. For me, the game is most enjoyable when you're getting good kit regularly, levelling out some items and binning others, instead of having top spec stuff in all slots and just patiently waiting on the small chance that something better will come along. Mind you, I might have a jump on that matchmaking forum tomorrow afternoon and see if I can get onboard with a King's Fall raid team. Even if I can't complete it, at least getting to a loot drop would let me get a chance at some good loot, even if it's just to boost my Alchemist's Raiment and Zhalo Supercell!

What had initially been reported as a plan to keep Destiny going for ten years on the same engine, WoW style, was clarified to mean that they had a ten year trademark/publishing deal on Destiny, and that it didn't mean there would be one game, or a game every 2.5 years. The next Destiny has to be much bigger from the start, though I think they'll get that as even with the Taken King being hailed as everything Destiny should have been when it was released, the critical panning the game got when it came out must have hurt Bungie's pride in a big way.

I find Destiny good fun but it's 1000X better with mates.

What a waste of a night that was...
Bungee maintenence was supposed to finish at 7pm, then 8pm then eventually the servers were available about 8:45, then there were issues with Xbox messages so no one was receiving notifications to join parties etc!! And there wasn't enough of us online to get a raid going so we had to lfg it, by the time we got in to a raid it was about 22:00 . By 2300 we had given up as the ransoms couldn't seem I pull together!
Very disappointed! Might be the nail in the coffin for me to finally get out of destiny and look at some of the new stuff being released!
I realised last night that I haven't purchased a single game since destiny was released!!! I've downloaded a few games with gold free titles but haven't loaded any of them!

This was pretty much my experience earlier on this week. Except I had some annoying person telling me I shouldn't be using Touch of Malice. Why the hell not its at 310 and I'm clever enough to not hold the trigger down till I die ffs. This was the guy that didn't realise we were doing hard mode ! Like how the hell could you not notice. As a result I won't use LFG, it's full of idiots who quit at the slightest thing, worse than Glen
. Maybe we just need to arrange raid night better rather than turning up and hoping everyone is online. I bought fallout 4 and decided to start building the model Concorde I was bought about 10 years ago. Still enjoy destiny but not the nights I seem to spend wandering what the hell to do and spending time trying to get a half decent fireteam together.

Oh...boy... :-) It's a great game, and amazing when you fight alongside others (either PvE co-op or PvP) but a lot of people who've played for a long time have pretty much exhausted everything at the moment, so they have been dropping out and playing other things.I think there will be a resurgence whenever Bungie release new content - possibly in the new year once all the holiday big guns have been played.
Everyone seems to be heading for Halo 5, Fallout 4, Star wars...or Tomb raider....so i'm going my own way with the old tomb raider game and Pneuma! :-)
Have only just started the tomb raider game but I really like it - good mix of puzzles and action sequences. Haven't got into much stealth/combat yet.
Simo - no worries at all - wasn't even sure if you had got the message as they were really playing up last night.
Wuddie/F1Gav - To be fair some LFG's are fine - last night was probably the second worst experience I've had out of a few raids and several nightfalls and PoE's.
I'm pretty much done with destiny............ feel a little sad about it as its been a really good crack, i might (probably will) get the next dlc, but i'm not prepared to spend another hour trying to grind out 1 poxy light level! i'd rather be forever 29 again with the disappointment of st drops, than get stty blues at 268 for hours of effort.
if you guys are stuck for a player send me a message, apart from that i'm moving on to Tomb raider and battlefront.
