That's a top haul Wuddie, how long did the run take you? I suppose you run a full squad of Spindles and ToMs? Since you've run it on hard mode plenty of times, how does the jump puzzle on the hive ships work, do you need to get 4 guys to make it over without a death and pull the last two through the checkpoint, or do they relax the "no respawns" rule for that section?

I had another go at Kings Fall tonight, another bloody horror show, my team were awful and we didn't even make it past the room before the Warpriest. The only chest I opened had a load of crap 265 blues and some mouldering shards, woo hoo. I'll have another good shot at it this weekend, try and get on with some high level guys who understand the mechanics. I still need to get the quest items from the sisters and Oryx for the ToM quest too, this game never ends. On the plus side, I've had loads of practice at everything up to and including Golgoroth, I've spent several hours fighting Oryx (but only finished it once due to team flaking out) but I've only fought the Deathsingers once, and we pounded them out in about a minute flat. I'm pretty well versed in the mechanics now, finding solid teams who can stick the whole thing is tough.

It took us just over an hour to get to oryx, we didn't finish him off as lag started to become an issue (we had random Americans!!!)

I think we did totems after one wipe
War priest after one wipe
Blitzed golgoroth first go
Sisters took a few attempts.

For some reason I was having massive trouble with both jumping puzzles. As long as you get a few people across the hive ships then they can pull the rest of the team over..

The thrusting dildo section is a bit more tricky, you have to leave to orbit so that the end door will open got the rest of the team and then rejoin.

An interesting night on Destiny, I did my first run on Crota's End and it was a hard run to boot, it was pretty easy until we got to Crota, we just didn't have a strategy that worked as our two Titan bubbles were never deployed at the right time, the guys running the sword kept trying extravagant tricks and fking it up. I think if we'd been playing normal we'd have done Crota himself in about 10 minutes, if we could have revived and used the Chalice of Light to heal ourselves. Our raid leader was adamant about doing it on hard though, thinking we'd get better loot - all the loot we got was year 1 crap anyway. Interesting, but ultimately ornamental unless it was exotics that had year 2 versions. Someone did get a No Land Beyond and was going to break it to build a year 2, the lucky tt.

I then played with Baryonyx for a bit, I showed him how to grab the first chest on the Crota raid, all I got was some crappy ascendant energy, though I understand exotics can drop from it, as well as (useless) raid loot. We also did some Court of Oryx, the tier 3 boss this week is Thalnok, the mini Crota. The first time we did it, again we had guys grabbing the sword and wasting it killing adds, attacking Thalnok when his shield was up etc. Second time round I grabbed the sword instead and fking mullered him, netting me another calcified fragment. Now I was up to 44/50 and only needing one more for ToM, I joined a team from the LFG and ran the Nightfall, which was on the Dreadnaught. It was surprisingly easy and I won another fragment here, putting me on the magic 45/50. Now I just need to beat the sisters and Oryx one more time each and I can wrap the quest up and get ToM!

Yeah, the first fight against Thalnok was a bust. Despite having a full compliment of guardians on scene, the sword runners kept goofing. At least the second time, when there were just four of us, you could concentrate on running with the sword and I could hit the witches and Thalnok with my LMG and cut his shield down. After you left my party, I almost managed to solo walk through the first part of Crota's End, by managing my self revives and flame shields. However, I got lost off near the end and that was that. I'm going to use the matchmaking website tomorrow to see if I can get some proper raid action.

I've been thinking today about what's next for Destiny. I'm sure that Destiny 2 will include space combat. Knowing Bungie, it was probably planned for Destiny, since every Halo game has featured amazing vehicle sections. The space craft in Destiny are mere trinkets, but the TTK intro cinematic may suggest where they want to take this aspect. It could be rather good, if we get something that handles like a 3D Ghost from Halo. I also suspect that the patrol maps will have random spawns, to stop players congregating in all the same areas. Mars is particularly bad for player dispersal, the back half of the map is like the dark side of the Moon.

I don't know what the next Destiny DLC will look like though. We've had The Fallen covered in HOW, the Hive in DB, the Vex were the naughty boys of the campaign and the Taken arrived and got whopped in short order in TTK. Who next?

Crota hard is all about the sword carrier. It's much easier if they have an invisi hunter, as they can basically do everything whilst everyone else stays on the window ledge :-)

General proceedure is:-
1. kill sword knight
2. Hunter picks it up and jumps onto rock
3. Crouch to activate invisbility
4. Immediately call for rockets to down his shield and sword him a few times
5. Drop the sword and punch his leg to go invisible again
6. run around for a second then drop him a second time and sword him again
7. run away trying not to get killed by boomers.

It's also easier if people have hats with "orbs regenerate health" perks which were quite sought after at the time. Red death is also good for healing purposes.

Randoms in tier 3 coo can be quite a pain!

Another horror show night on Destiny, I decided to jump on Golgoroth for an easy loot drop (yeah right), ended up with 5 men doing decent damage but just needing that little extra push to finish it before the enrage. I brought Baryonyx in, we were shredding the boss and right on the final round when he had probably 15% health max our boy who was meant to be catching the gaze of Golgoroth dropped the ball, we lost the damage goo pool and killed the adds again and had another go. Again, our designated decoy fked it up, Golgoroth enraged and we had no choice but try and DPS him out, needless to say we didn't manage it.

My apologies to Baryonyx, if I knew we'd go to pieces I wouldn't have asked you to come off Fallout.

LFG is pretty hit or miss unfortunately, as shown by both your posts :-(

Baronyx - if you want to keep raiding I strongly suggest you get into a "the100" group. On average, the players should be better and over time you'll find some people within that group that you can play with regularly.

I've also found that reddit/fireteams is not too bad, better I think than the big lfg sites.

I've had a breakthrough 48 hours on Destiny. I did my first nightfall - the rewards were crap, like everyone said, but it was really easy so no big problem.

After being stuck at 299 light for a while (with the bar showing 100% full - literally one more attack or defence point on my character would have leveled me up) I finally found a 299 machine gun which I infused to into my Sleeper Simulant, giving me a 299 Sleeper and pushing over that magic 300 light mark. I then found myself in the crucible getting totally pounded, my team dropped out and new guys were drafted in, I decided to stick the loss out as quitting because you're losing is a really st thing to do. I got a 286 ghost which I used to upgrade my 285 vanguard ghost, again another thing that would have put me in the 300s.

Xur came around, I bought a Forth Horseman. It's fun, but I can't see myself using it for any serious jobs. It also sounds like a potato cannon - wtf is all that about? Maybe they thought a regular shotgun sound wasn't special enough? I had also really wanted a Queenbreakers Bow, purely for fun use on patrol and to this end, had teamed up with Baryonyx and Irrotational to do the PoE fight against Skolas, only to later learn after beating him that the quest had been removed. I was feeling lucky, so I bought a legacy engram from Xur and it felt like Christmas morning as it decryped into the Bow. I've been nailing Cabal with it, what a treat to use. Truly a weapon that looks and feels like no other in the game.

I fired the game up this morning to see that Lost to Light was the daily heroic, so I brought Baryonyx and Irrotational on and had a run, with me and Baryonyx running our Zhalo / Stormbringer combos. We were too slow getting to the boss room and just didn't have the DPS to grind the adds down, not to mention we were way too aggressive. They both jetted and I found two guys on the LFG, hunters at 310 and a 303. It took us 2 hours of solid tries, sometimes getting close and other times feeling miles away. I decided to give it one last try as I didn't think we were strong enough to do it and with a few minutes left on the clock it looked dire, the room was flooded with adds, my allies were dying more than usual and generally all hope looked lost. Somehow, it all turned around - a few lucky tethers, heavy ammo synthesis and my Sleeper with a 310 Truth saw Dreviks fall with 2:15 left on the clock. We started a cycle of orb regen by dropping super after super and somehow cleared the fight with over a minute left on the clock. Something just clicked and the sinking ship turned around in a scarcely believable fashion. They nerfed the Black Spindle drop and it's a 290 now, but I can boost it up to close to 300 so I can really start bothering the Warpriest and Golgoroth.

Fingers crossed I can get ToM also this weekend. I love this game biggrin

Things were a bit funky on 'Lost to Light' earlier. I couldn't hear much of Andy, and I could have perhaps had better luck with a Zhalo/1000 Yard Stare/Sunsinger setup. As it was, I never used my Havoc Pigeon despite it naturally slotting in so well against the shorter range prowess of the Zhalo. Not that I'd go out of my way for the Black Spindle, as I said, you put the effort in and ended up getting it. That Tether ability seems quite good, I noticed the kids in that raid were spamming Golgoroth with it the other night. I enjoyed that Raid boss fight, despite the fact it all went tits up at the end.

I have to state that I'm not wild about the Fourth Horseman, it'll be getting broken for a shard once I've upgraded it and had some fun with it. It has consumed a few bits of Spinmetal, IIRC, so I'll need to keep my eyes peeled for that when we're out and about. I'll get the Tlaloc tonight since I've had the last step for using the telemetry for a while, and in about ten years, I should be able to get the gun from the Lost And Found quest too.

Did you get Tlaloc in the end then? It's a good enough weapon but imo the perks just aren't strong enough to warrant keeping it on as an exotic, but it's a nice enough patrol gun.

The breakthrough continues for me today, I bought 3 Three of Coins from Xur and farmed the ultra knight for two 310 Claws of Ahamkara and an exotic primary engram. I think the claws perks are pretty weak compared to my Heart of the Praxic Fire chest piece, so I used them to make my legendary gloves a 310 item, before decrypting the weapon engram which turned out to be a 310 Bad Juju. I hadn't realised quite how strong this thing is as an add clearing weapon, the fully upgraded gun is ridiculous - killing an enemy reloads the magazine instantly with regenerated ammo, gives a damage boost and adds 3.7% of the super bar fill on top of the normal fill bonus for a kill. This thing cuts through adds like nothing I've seen - though it does require a bit more care than the Zhalo, it's effectively an inifite ammo bullet hose that never needs to be reloaded when killing adds and gets a damage and super boost just for doing it's job, it's mental.

I took Baryonyx through his first Nightfall with another player, me and the other guy had Spindles so we tore through it with next to no effort, though Baryonyx was no dead weight at all and it was quick and smooth. I then jumped on to help a friend do the level 35 Skolas PoE event, which I did earlier in the week with Irrotational and Baryonyx. Coming back tonight, it is amazing how much higher my damage output was, we melted Skolas in no time and ended up standing around dancing waiting for the mines to spawn so we could defuse them and finish the event. It's a shame that the gear is worthless, but it was fun to shred it again.

Challenge mode has been engaged. It's warpriest this week.

Not sure on exact requirements but if you do it on hard you get a 320 *little* treat.

Anyone up for it tonight? If so we should save a checkpoint on alt's - just in case.

Edit - for Baronyx and Mastodon2 - a 6 second Skolas kill...(only counting from when they started shooting to when they stopped)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fPMBvKa22y8&fe...

They didn't even use a tether - two titan bubbles and 3 ToM's.

Be on at 8

Edit: just read up on the challenge, you need to take him out in 2 damage rounds without anyone dieing!

Nah - there is video of a dead guy getting the drops.

Latest thinking is that you have to have different aura holders on each phase.

Another possibility is doing it without cocking up the glyph sequence.

Reddit will definitely know by tea time!

Edit - would be good if we can get a group tonight and run Warpriest hard 2 or 3 times even via alt's...seems the best way to get sweet sweet 320 loots.

I'd jump in but my 298 Black Spoondle probably isn't strong enough in terms of DPS to really cut it. I got a 306 Defiance of Yasmin that I could infuse into it and possibly get a 305 Spoondle, but In hesitant to infuse my raid sniper away, not to mention my overall light is only 303 so possibly still a dead weight on a challenge like beating Warpriest in 2 rounds.

Scratch that - I have the in-laws coming round for a birthday tea :-(

Mastodon2 - it doesn't have to be in 2 rounds...just different gaze holders each round. You'll probably be fine on these earlier parts of hard mode to be honest.

Another approach is everyone runs ToM's and uses a blessing bubble at the back...this stops the team using WoL though unless they have two titans.

I haven't done Warpriest on hard, but tbh doing it with a different gaze holder every round doesn't sound that hard, if a team is good enough to win the fight on hard they're good enough to have a different aura holder in each round I reckon. I'll be giving that a crack at the weekend I think.

Are the normal and hard raids tracked seperately? Can I have a run through the normal and the hard in the same week and get rewards from both? I'm pretty sure I can, I just don't want to waste time doing both if only one will reward me.

Yes they are separate, but if you do hard first you get hard AND normal drops so you don't have to run it twice.

To be honest, once you're 300 you may as well run the hard mode IMHO...youll get better drops quicker and get closer to 310.

Oryx is the only place where it helps to be 310+

Looks like it's time to start the big boys raid. I hope there are more Spoondles and ToMs on hard runs than there are on normal.
