With the expansion pack coming it's difficult to know what, if anything, is going to carry over into that game and what is going to be superceded....so I'm not sure whether to level up stuff I already have or push for new stuff.

I'd love to do the raid again (hopefully tonight!?) - but mainly for fun rather than any loot, because I'm not sure whether I'll be able to use it!

I'm very interested to see how they reward people that have really put the effort in to get to 30, versus making sure everyone can get to 28/29 otherwise they can't play half the content in the expansion.

They've muttered about upgrading exotics so that they stay relevant...but no similar assurances on legendary gear.

Plus I have two raid guns with bonus damage to oracles....but other weapons maxed. I'm not sure it's worth me trying to level up those guns if there are no oracles in the "new" raid.

This might sound a bit blunt but anyone who is interested in a proper hard attempt needs to be level 30 with maxed weapons, or 29 with maxed/300 damage raid weapons. Preferably maxed Vision of Confluence/Atheons Epilogue/SUROS/Ice Breaker/Praedyths Revenge/Void Fusion/void rocket launcher/Gjallahorn/Corrective Measure.

Having experienced hard this week at both 29 and 30, you do significantly less damage at 29 than level 30, so not having maxed out weapons is a complete non starter (at level 29 it took 4 shots from a maxed ice breaker to remove the red detainment bubble at Atheon). I also couldn't take down the Hobgoblins within the left portal with a relic ground smash. They just laughed as I moved them slightly!!!

Purely IMO but when the new DLC lands I reckon the armour drops from the current raid will be more regular. Helping more players get to level 30. Armour from the new raid to get to level 32 will be just as sparse as they are at the moment in the Vault of Glass.

From what I've read, current exotics will be able to be upgraded further with new 'exotic ascendant materials'. Nobody is sure if this will also apply to current legendary items.

Current raid weapons are definitely worth upgrading. Some are just as good as exotics but you have the added benefit of being able to equip more than one (Vision of Confluence is arguably the best scout rifle in the game). They may add another level of difficulty to the current raid to keep it inline with the new one at 32. Those oracle killing weapons will come in just as handy as they do now.

Is it worth getting the multitool for the Raid? all of my purchases at the moment are to help with that.
I've got Atheons Epilogue fully upgraded but according to the guides while it's a good raid weapon it's not as useful on hard because of the low impact and the amount of ammo you throw out.
Also got a fully updated icebreaker and I'm currently leveling up Hezen Vengeance and Unfriendly Giant

I quite often use the Multi Tool with my titan in the raid. Primarily as holding it speeds up your movement as I find the titan sluggish. It's also handy if you change your subclass perks to maximise armour and recovery as it will help compensate for the lower agility. It also has the permanent radar perk and is very quick to reload. It's got fairly good range too for those pesky Hobgoblins.

Ultimately the VoC is probably the better overall scout rifle but that's a raid drop.

I believe there are enough online most nights now to have 2 raids running. So those 28's that aren't quite up to hard can nurture the 26 and 27's through the normal raid while getting enough kit and upgrades to then get themselves to hard raids..

It's kinda like a training center now those starting to do the hard raid are trying to gain as much knowledge and experience as possible to pass on to those coming up through the ranks. If we don't start learning the hard raid the new dlc will come out and no one will know how to complete the Venus hard raid.

We can now carry 10 bounties at once, but only 5 vanguard bounties are released each day, If youre like me and don't get to play each day then this could be useful, at somepoint on your non gaming day, quickly fire up destiny, go to the tower and grab the 5 bounties for that day, then on your gaming day, grab the other 5 bounties.. if you can complete nightfall, do that first, then go complete your 10 bounties and trade them all in at the same time, depending on the bounties you should be able to get anywhere from 500 - 1000 vanguard rep, then with the 25% nightfall buff as well, you should be able to quickly get vanguard level up, but also any equipment that you need ranking up too.

After trading in the first couple of bounties, go check in your inventory if a weapon had ranked up, if it is and its now maxed, make sure you swap any other kit in that needs to be ranked!! Don't waste those valuable few bounties trying to rank up maxed out kit.

Taking my own advice I did this last night, I completed 8 bounties, with nightfall buff enabled I made 757 vanguard rep, this was enough to upgrade 1 primary, 1 special and 1 heavy from stock to half of the attributes for each weapon! I'm expecting it to take more than this to fully max each weapon especially the heavies but it was a good test.

I'm and about one or two upgrades then I'll be level 30 , kept getting bloody energy drops last night than shards, however I'll be blasting the daily and chasing public events this weekend, need one coin and I'll pick up the multi tool aswell!

Don't forget that if you are racking up vanguard marks then you can buy legendary armour that you don't need to shard it. You can only carry 200 marks at a time so make the most of it.

I've been doing this with legendary weapons the last few days as I need the ass energies.

I hope there are ways other than "just" the raid of getting up to 30..or 31...not because I don't like it but I think some people really struggle getting a group together.

I'm working on found verdict just now (because I finally levelled IceB) and I'll start on the raid rocket launcher once I have levelled the swarm machine gun


normal raid versus hard

I can see we have quite a range of levels with different plans :-)

I hope we can keep a core raid group (or 2) together so that us 26-28/29's can keep going on the normal raid, whilst the "fancy 30's" :-) can also dabble in the Hard raid.

I had been hoping to have a go at hard as a 29 but it sounds like too much fire power is needed :-(

Log on with your xbox ID
Go to groups first and search for pistonheads
Click on join and wait for the admin to accept you
Once you're in the group click on the button "set group as clan"

Then the clan tag will appear under your name in the little name plaque thingy.

Managed to get Atheons epilogue and suros regime last night on a raid drop, along with a raid rocket launcher and a legendary shotgun. A good haul I thought!

I'm at 24 so I'm gonna work on picking up vanguard marks and reputation on the heroic daily, weekly and tiger strikes. Need that vanguard rank 2 :-)

It was a very impressive run....probably 4.5 person really because I was mainly just clearing adds.

I got ported every time, but the rate the two of you were clearing oracles was impressive!

I'm quietly pleased that I managed to exit the portal completely blind and make the jump to centre! Did it based purely on where your names were on my screen.

Big thanks for taking me along :thumbsup: and I was lucky enough to get the raid chest.

This game keeps sucking me in...now I'm looking at the gloves and boots from IB and getting to 30 is no longer RNG dependent... No way I've got the time to grind it out though

I think everyone stepped it up to take up the slack.

The left side during oracles was tough with just the two of us but we had no deaths.

When only 2 were teleported during atheon, someone was already coming through the portal to help with the oracles. Good team work.
