Today I smashed it. Amazing. First time through wrath of the machine at 362 Light.
Only really struggled with the final boss phase 2. But we got there. I gained ten light levels got all the raid armour apart from the bond and a chaos dogma. Very happy.

I expect Destiny 2 will be fking amazing, in every way that Destiny wasn't when it was released. Destiny took a lot of tweaking before it came into it's own but I suspect that RoI is the end of the line. The sequel is no doubt already in development.

I'm not getting on with BF at all, just doesn't flick my switch so might pick up Destiny again until something else comes out.
Worth saying, BF becomes a completely different game when you are in a squad.

It can be tedious and meh solo, very good fun as a squad.

Thanks for the games mate, it's been a blast. You've always been a steady hand and a level head in a fight and I'll miss your "exotic hats". Some of the absolute best of Destiny was the rote learning of King's Fall and the heroic challenge modes, with Lew, Glenn, Wuddie and Trash. We had that raid absolutely battered by the end. Wrath of the Machine was fun but somehow less compelling. You will be back on Destiny 2, whether you can admit it to yourself now or not.

I was a relative latecomer to Destiny, I think I played it in the first week after it was released, hit level 20 then packed it in and didn't come back until The Taken King released. Since then I've put an obscene amount of time into it, but I think I'm ready to give it up. It seems quite symbolic to make the statement to myself, as Destiny has almost been a hobby in itself aside from gaming.

I've hit 399 light with my primary and about 396 with my second and third characters, all I need to get my Warlock over to 400 is a pair of boots. The only thing I haven't done is the Aksis hard challenge and I just can't be bothered any more. I don't need the bragging rights in a game that people will now be leaving in droves. We've saved the universe many times over, smashed pads, wall-glitched, rage quite Trials of Osiris and had a hell of a laugh along the way, but I can't keep going with it now, I've got too many other games to play and not enough will to keep going.

I'll be back, we all will. The universe won't save itself, whenever Destiny 2 arrives, we'll all answer the Traveler's call.
Hey fella - thank you too :-) A great post and there's a lot to reply to!

By far the best thing about it has been playing with people on here, and who we "picked up" along the way. It's a shame you never got to play with Tankslappa as he was a beast at the game and super patient and helpful (as you are as well!). I think everyone else has been back on at one point or another.

I think Destiny succeeded because it mixes the skinner-box loot grind (which I worry is deliberately addictive and we all got sucked in to it to some extent) with the fun of playing with mates.

I think people have dropped off faster from RoI partly because the loot has dropped relatively easily, plus a lot of people have now done 6 sessions of chasing light increases over 3 years....plus the social aspect has gone down a lot as people leave.

So I think you're making the right call - enjoy the other games and maybe we'll both get sucked into Destiny 2!

Thanks again for all the help, and most importantly, the comedy banter!

This is awesome to read - you've now jumped head first on to a very slippery slope of raiding! :-) was it via LFG or mates? Sounds like you did very well with loot - the armour tends to drop less often, and has good perks for the raid, so it will make the next runs easier. A run at 360ish light is pretty tough!

Was through lfg. Got lucky and invited to a team with a few 400 players. We even did all the monitors so I've got the start of that quest now too.

I thought they had put an in built lfg in place?? I couldn't find anything so used online still. Can't believe in a game like this it doesn't pop you in with people or search for people for you for a raid. That's why I've never completed crota or vault of glass.

Wow, you have to get the outbreak prime, it's a fun challenge and a good gun.

Sounds like you lucked out on a group, wonder why they were doing normal mode...but that's good!

There is a system wide LFG tool now, it's on the top right of the party menu, when you pop it out from the left hand side of the screen.

You choose which game and then it shows you posts people have made, with tags describing what they want to do.

Click on "I'm interested" and send them a message. They then get a notification and can accept or reject you.

Click a button matchmaking for raids would be terrible, I promise.

For old raids, create a game on the100.io, and you'll get 6 I bet.

As you can see from other posts, most people on here have stopped playing otherwise we could do the old ones for fun.

wow! page 7 guys........

its awfully quiet here - not seen anyone online in awhile.

The dawning xmas update is actually quite fun, it has added some great twists to some of the original strikes.

I'm still playing. It's still my go-to game when I've 30 minutes or an hour to spare. It's such an easy game to pick up and play for short periods of time. Most of the other games I like (GTA V, Skyrim, Witcher 3, etc.) tend to need larger time commitments in a sitting to really get a chance to do something. Hell, I can spend 30 minutes walking around a mountain ...

It's become hugely more enjoyable now I'm gotten good at crucible (which I never touched for the first 1.5-2 years) and see my light level progress at a more rewarding rate (particularly during Iron Banner). Loving the changes they've made with The Dawning. The small changes they've made to some of the strikes have made them fresh and fun again. And I never caught SRL the first time around, so that's a novelty activity.

Having overdosed on VOG and Crota I'm ashamed to say I've still not done KF or WOTM :O

Might get round to them over Christmas when I've a bit more time on my hands.

I still dabble occasionally, did some of the new strikes, the scoring and the new bounties.

Got to rank 5 in SRL, just need to do a few more things for the book...

I still have loads to do so may come back at some point to wrap things up haven't completed the new raid even on normal and kings fall on hard. I just got fed up of the constant grind after the 3 years and then when with the new expansion trying to get a raid team together as found people tended to be on at different times and not everyone returned to the game. The one thing i miss is the social side of the game as there hasn't been a better game when it comes to this. The banter, challenges, rage quits, broken controllers and general laugh when in a fire team and attempting to work out each new raid. Hopefully when Destiny 2 comes out we will all be back or i can catch some of you on other games.Currently playing BF1 and just got Final Fantasy so spending most my time on that. But if anyone has a free spot or needs one more for a raid on Destiny and they see me online just send us a message and ill gladly join.

I'M BACK BABY

Well after a few regulars said about banging through the VOG, Crota I had a great blast Monday night. 4 of us on Crota Hard. Apart from a few minor issues with the sword blew through it.

Was on again last night and got to say i'm loving this again. Enough changes to keep me interested and have a few regulars on was great.

Must make sure I drink loads beforehand as it's more fun doing it pished as well

only on light level 380 at the moment so have some work to get to 400 but last night went up from 372 to 380. I want the new icebraker

This is the only game I keep going back to after 3-6 months off and love

Is it too late to start playing this game as a beginner? Is it an easy game to dip in and out of when you have a spare 30 minutes? I have a friend who has been playing Destiny for a year and he has been pestering me to give it a try. The collection with all the expansion packs is on sale for £26.99 in Argos so looks like good value.

Perfect for dipping in and out of for short blast to do either a single player level or strike or whatever. And when more time allows a raid or two.

Yes and no - Destiny is a game of two halves really.

The first half is more like a traditional FPS, you go through a campaign, there is a very confusing story, but the shooting is great and the planets are different/interesting.

As you start getting sucked in the levelling and loot "grind" kicks in - you start wanting better/shinier gear and doing harder missions. The second half is the "end game" where you've got to max character level (40) and you're doing end game content like Nightfalls and possibly the raids.

The raids are 6 player co-op and they are THE BEST co-op experience you can have in an FPS bar none...you need 6 people who are decent human beings (Or Glennred and Trash!! ;-) to be patient and keep plugging away during failed attempts.

The vast majority of end game players have stopped playing the game now, so it is harder to get raid groups together, but not impossible.

Even if you "just" do the story missions and some of the bounties with your mate you'll get plenty of gaming for your £27.

IMHO just doing the first raid "Vault of Glass" (level 27) is almost worth £27 on it's own - it's just awesome.

If people are still playing i may start coming back. Will only be one or two nights in the week and probably a Sunday, but still need to complete kings fall hard raid and the new raid in normal and hard mode.

Hiya! have you loaded it back up?

I have been "clean" for a few months now but they are bringing out a new year 3 book to complete, as well as probably making the old raids relevant again...

I am really wary of getting back into the grind...but then I've completed all the other books so it would annoy me a bit to leave this one hanging...
