I think custom off cars should be standard.
I don't agree. I think it should be on by default but turn it off if someone doesn't have a car for that class. Most people in this crew do have custom cars for most of the classes. Having them on increases the variety and allows people to sport their own colour schemes.

Any thoughts on more laps less tracks vs more tracks less laps?

My vote would be for more laps. Even with the best intentions it can be messy going into the first corner. More laps lets people work it out.

Must admit I agree with Saiph here, loads of crew members have fully modded cars specifically for racing. I think it should be done on a general consensus for each race too. We used to race standard cars when there were a few low level newbies, and then when they left, provided everyone has one for the class we always used to race custom.

how about race lengths? more laps less tracks or less laps more tracks?

I would say between 6 - 8 Tracks with 3/4 laps depending on length of track.

I've played races where half the field actually DNF due to the odd couple in 100% modded personal cars finishing so fast.
That can't happen if only a couple disappear into the distance - the 30 second timer doesn't start to run until half the field have finished.

What might make sense is to alternate it. Between having custom cars on, stock cars but everyone can choose what they like, stock cars where we all choose the same vehicle, and very silly races too (such as the tractors or golf carts). Personally I love it when we're all in the same stock car because that provides a lot of very, very close racing - Jim and I have had some fantastic close quarters races. Particularly with the Vigero in muscle cars, and the Vacca in Supers, as they're not the fastest in the class but very balanced.

I do agree with that statement about certain cars being too dominant in their class though. Schafters are the biggest culprit, obviously, but arguably the Huntley in SUVs too. (Which annoys me to no end as the Schafter is an 'orrible car to look at.) But Saiph has a point too, a lot of us have spent a lot of money upgrading our cars, it's only fair we get to use them from time to time. I think just a bit of communication is important, but you've been great at doing that when running playlists Easedlight. smile Motion to add you to the Crew Commissioners as our official Race Playlist Operator?

Custom on/off doesn't bother me.

I really enjoy the daft races, where there is nothing to win or gain and it's all for laughs.
The game can get too serious fat times so it's good to blow off steam having tractor races etc.

I must be in the minority that prefer the rock crawling, drowning in river off road races then

I won't be doing sedan/suv' s as the class is too closed.

Tested couple of off road tracks but there very narrow so hard to overtake, might be good on the scooters though.

I do prefer the non-custom car races as the field spread is usually a lot less. Also, 4 laps seems a good balance for most average length tracks but you should also take into account the vehicle being used.

Right, I am determined to get heist 4 completed - I need 3 willing members to join me tonight, I should be on just after 730 as my wife goes out then. anyone up for it??

This.

I have 3 garages and pretty much every car I own is totally maxed out, but I get way more FUN when we do something stupid like race Tractors or golf buggys, or something equally as crap (but lets NEVER race lawn mowers again!!!).

When it's a totally equal spread of performance with drafting on it just makes things so much more hilarious. I don't think I have laughed as hard at this game as I did the other night with our lobby of random race class choices. In fact the only race that wasn't as much fun was the supercars one. Yeah it was fast and hectic... but everyone was concentrating so hard on winning it wasn't as funny as "I fking hate these smart cars" or "who the fk suggested lawnmowers!!" or everyone having time to flip the bird to everyone else as we struggled to control the "ludicrous speed" up the hill laugh

And who can forget.... "VAN" at every single checkpoint laughlaugh

I don't mind customs at all, but I like the racing to be fun in a "who cares who wins" way. It gets too serious too quickly when every person aims for the fastest car in their garage in an effort to win at all costs. If the racing lobbies go to custom car choices I will probably just stay on heists. It's GTA not GT or Forza wink

You haven't played Long Haul 2 with 12 or more supercars with full mods and slipstream on have you? wink

There's enough of us to race in whatever way we want to be fair. some people enjoy it one way and others another way. No need to confine yourself to playing one thing, As you say this is GTA after all, they didnt give us all this choice for nothing smile

I like variety personally, sometimes the silly all equal type racing, sometimes the maximum skill and effort racing too. Other times, I just like to go yank hunting.

If sports, classics are custom off then most people can steal a zion, felon, denominator or gauntlet and mod them up.

Think I'll do a mixture of custom / non custom plus there's a track I thinks going to be a laugh on scooters.

I loved that track that you used the liberator on and the squeels from the others as you ran them over!

If anyone here doesn't watch Better Call Saul - last nights episode was a bit of a homage to GTA - featuring a Lester lookalike and the ACTUAL Trevor!

Interesting - I notice the duffel bag carrier doesn't even bother to pick up armour at the bikes! I thought shots on at least the demolition man reduced the take too, but it appears not. Also, I did try getting into my garage to use my Kuruma once (Tinsel Towers) but it wouldn't let me in because I was in sight of the cops, so it's a little risky; you've wasted some time and the route is more dangerous if you don't manage to get your armoured car.

An unconventional technique for the chopper team for the Humane Labs heist here (you need to watch the box-out to see what the gunner and chopper are doing): https://youtu.be/m1FiMMvHF-0?t=1h6m10s

How about if heist member has the apt at alta st?

You all hide in the train tunnel then when you've lost your start stroll across the road to your garage and get the armoured car.
