PS4 GTA V Online
Discussion
Thank you all for attending and being part of a fantastic event that went really well, that was a lot of fun. Sorry about the slight connection issues, and while fun, the Zancudo Survival probably didn't work as well as I'd hoped. I was surprised how well you all took to the Hide and Seek though!

2nd - lecrazylemur - Hotknife - 570
3rd - Jobbo - Stallion - 420

Some pictures from tonight. I'm really sorry if this kills your PC Jobbo!
The Hotknife
Also, my hiding spot. I was behind a green container; I'm certain somebody was onto me- Glade, I think- as I realised at the last minute I'd left tracks in the dirt. Just as I heard a V8 rolling up on me Challenger called it. That said, I don't know if anyone else could actually have fit through the gap I did.

So I although I could go pretty quick, I wasn't very consistent mostly because I was messing up the transition from launch to doing the mid-drive speed boost. The advantage, as somebody said, wouldn't usually be that huge. However, boosting just as the wheels were stopping spinning gives you a huge amount of speed. I think the first run against Challenger's Sabre is probably the best I have recorded. The other runs were only slightly different in what I actually did, but pretty far apart in the results.
When launching, I was leaning slightly on the accelerator and holding the handbrake. This stops the wheels from spinning when you do launch; however this does mean you can lose a lot of speed if you don't get on full throttle quickly enough. A lot of chance for inconsistency here. I was then doing the speed boost, which I'm sure most of you know about, but the timing seemed to make a lot of difference, which I didn't notice until later.
Basically, if it weren't for the boosts I would have probably been screwed.
It was brilliant fun, thanks a bunch for running it Challenger. Really well thought out and executed. I'm glad I could be a part of it.

My phone has no problem with your pics so I've no idea why my work PC objected last week
The way your competitors streaked away at the start, I still think boosting away from the line is the consistent approach even if you can eke out slightly more speed with the mid-drive boost when timed right. I just pressed L3 as soon as the bomb exploded and then pressed R2 right down; easy. The only variable is reaction time.

I think the best runs I had were when I used the boost just after the start. I got through the wheel spin then boosted.
Also glad to see the Rat Truck was exactly as useless as predicted .
It sounded good though. Also glad to see the Rat Truck was exactly as useless as predicted .
Good well run event last night challenger, well done.
So are moving onto the rally stages this weekend?
I may be gone this weekend, not sure yet. There's no rush to get it done though, I think we'll get all the stages done before setting a date.
Also as predicted the heist event appears to have moved to Series A this week. It's not my favourite but if anyone fancies running through it a few times give me a shout. I can't afford to host yet though as I spent all my money on that stoopid Rat Truck .

Can someone help? I have just started playing GTA online and I did the intro (collected the drugs etc). Problem is, now what do I do. Do i just have to join in the games with the blue markers all over the maps?
Sorry if this sounds silly but I'm just a bit confused and I really want to get stuck into online as I've just completed the story mode.

I remember having the same problem after that first mission - I chased the chap all over the map, ran out of ammo so couldn't kill him and ended up quitting in frustration. I did manage it again but thought online was a bit strange so didn't play it for a couple of months. Which was time wasted, because I've played it a lot since You can do whatever you wish, basically - you'll get phone calls from game characters inviting you to missions; you'll get invites to races, deathmatches, missions as well etc from real people; and you can just start them yourself from the blue markers. Ultimately you're trying to earn money to buy an apartment, cars etc so missions are a good place to start.

Ah so it's not just me going insane haha! Thanks for this information, I will definitely try and stick with it! I was under the impression that you could just run around the map with other players and join missions together but it's just you in the map to begin?
A lot of the missions won't start until you're level 5 or the like. The thing about GTA Online is you almost have to find your own amusement to enjoy it, though there is some grind. Add me (challenger001) on PSN, I'll give you an introduction to Los Santos and hopefully get you started on stuff to do.
How about we have a couple of races tonight with stock cars then, no modded ones?
