I'd love to get a ps4. I'm on my ps3 every single day for a couple of hours at a time. I have loads of ps3 games, but theres not many ps4 games i fancy so it would be a waste currently. Anyone know when sony will be putting the backwards conpatibility on the ps4 ,if not on already? Cheers.

They won't. Simple answer.

Disc based PS3 games will never be compatible with the PS4. They have made that pretty clear from the start. After the limited edition backward compatible PS3 had sold out that console was never made backward compatible again so expect the same thing this time.

They will however eventually launch a subscription/pay service to access a game library digitally via streaming. Not sure when it launches in the UK though.
Again, loads of details of this online if you do a quick google.

I fired up the xbox 360 last the other night for the first time in nearly 2 years I fancied a bit of the new FIFA. Seeing that everyone I used to play online with from here were still on did make me want to get COD back out, but I just don't have the time to commit these days and know it would be at the expense of more productive things.

This, the architecture of the PS3 is very unique, you might recall all the huge problems games makers had with it at the start? Anyway, to make it play PS2 games they pretty much fitted a mini PS2 system within it which was bloody expensive - it's party why PS3 got much smaller and much cheaper quite quickly after they dropped it.

To make a PS4 play PS3 games they'd had to do the same, and they're not going to make the same mistake again - so theirs this streaming model if you really want to do it - but like the PS3 before it, once users started using the new platform they dropped the old one very quickly.
