I found the Witcher quite hard going, still a decent game though. The Witcher 2 improved things massively for me and was a great game, so can't say I agree with the post above. Looking forward to the Witcher 3 as everything I've seen so far looks stunning. I think they'll make assumptions about the choices you made in the previous two games though as there won't be a way to import the progress outside of a questionnaire type thing.
I found the Witcher 2 dire, so perhaps I should qualify that opinion. See below:
1) The combat was awful.
2) For a monster hunter, there weren't many monsters to hunt.
3) The story, whilst interesting, was delivered in a slapdash manner.
4) Most of the game was spent wandering around a miserable military camp. Really, really dull and st stuff.
5) The quest tracker and map were st, so made it difficult to make progress. I hate games that hold your hand, but unless you're From Software you're probably not good enough to develop a game with no obvious direction. This was an oversight, and it's sloppy.
6) It was generally dull and tiresome.
The Witcher 3 though, looks like a complete change of pace and I can't wait to get stuck into it.
