My only complaint being the actual Alien. I met it for the first time on my first play. It wasn't unexpected, nor in the slightest bit scary, ripping off a scene from the first film which I thought was a poor effort. I later met the alien again for the second time yesterday trying to find a new sensor for the door unlocking device. It came down from the roof and then casually wandered off down a corridor with the only exit being a door that I hadn't restored the power to yet. I tried to follow but it had vanished, seemingly into thin air, or magically opened and closed the door behind it...

I'm finding the androids far more creepy. bd things.
I don't believe (other than the first time the alien drops in in the cut scene) that it ever disappears "unfairly" so to speak. You tend to find that it has gone into a vent that maybe you didn't see. I played right through on hard and didn't find it appear or disappear except from an actual location that would theoretically be possible for it to climb in and out of.

You're maybe braver than the rest of us, but for me, playing it for hours on end in the dark with the volume up, definitely passed for being pretty scary. Play on a little further and see how you go.

Haha yes, got to this point myself this weekend, i thought i had finished with them but that was a horrible part of the game, edgy doesnt even come close smile
It does beg the question that even if the Working Joes were completely benign and helpful, who on Earth would want something that looks and sounds like that strolling around the place !?

The Joes are on par with the alien for me... Especially the uber ones. Brilliant game.

Flame unit certainly runs out fast!

Playing this now. Like others, the repetition can grate after your 35th death at the hands of the Alien, but it's tempered by the spookiness of the game. Pretty good all in all.

I just bought another copy of the game, after selling mine post completion of main storyline.

Decided it is easily the best thing out there on the newer consoles.

Gta5 still being a good rampage though...

I think the point is that Seegson are Lidl compared to Weyland-Yutanis Tesco. So even their Androids are ste cut price versions done purely to save cash.

Just completed it, and overall very glad I played it. Did it on easy in the end, which is by no means a walk in the park and I do wonder if the higher difficulties would just be too frustrating. Campaign is perhaps a mission or two too long (mission 10 just goes on forever) but it was a very faithful recreation of the Aliens universe that finally makes it a genuine threat. Do need another playthrough to try and get the achievement for not killing anyone, but think I might take a bit of a break for now

One thing I have wondered though where did all the eggs come from? There's no Queen and the other ship only brought back one infected person. Unless they're going by the original film's deleted scene where the Alien turns people into eggs, but I didn't think that was canon. Somewhat dark that everyone else died, but then who picked Amanda up?

I've had this since December but only really started playing it properly a couple of days ago. I think I'm around the halfway point now, and overall I think its a very good game. It nails the look of the Aliens universe, and it has some genuinely terrifying moments, something that is sorely missing from the majority of games these days.

My only criticisms of it though would be it is quite repetitive in what you're required to do. It seems that my main quest, aside of surviving, is to power up everything - I can see why this is in the context of the story, the station is being decommissioned, but the whole game, so far at least, is revolving around the formula of "Get to A and switch thing on to activate B. B is on but Oh No! X has happened and now you need to find an alternate route to B on the other side of the map. Ah, I'm at B now, but Oh No! Y has happened and now we have to go to C and activate thing." Rinse and repeat.

Once I had gotten hold of the flamer I found myself less scared of the alien, where if he came anywhere near me I'd just give him a squirt and he'd run off into the roof vents and leave me alone for a few minutes. I quickly became too reliant on this tactic though, and was alarmed at how quickly the fuel ran out, but also, and it could just be my imagination here, it seemed like after using it several times the alien was getting used to it, so it was taking more flames at closer range to make him run off - an effective way of punishing you for using the flamer too often.

Overall it is a very good game though, excellent graphics, tense gameplay and a richly detailed world which it occurs in.

HEHE - yeah I had the same experience. Joy of the flamethrower followed by despair when I realised I was at one of the toughest parts of the game with no spare fuel.

I also believe the alien becomes slightly less worried about the flames and re-appears sooner (to eat you up...) :-0

Ah yes. Got the flame thrower and the game got a lot easier and not that scary. Then after 30 mins I realised how much fuel I had used and how little fuel I had.... Oh look I'm crapping myself again lol

The more I play this game, the creepier it gets. Honestly makes me jump each time something happens to me in some horrible darkened corner of Sevastopol. hehe

I got about three-quarters of the way through and was getting bored of the same thing repeated. I enjoyed wandering around but was getting fed up of the alien so downloaded a trainer which switched his AI off, meaning I could just get the game completed without being hindered, although he still killed me if I walked under a vent.

No spoilers, but I'd be surprised if there wasn't a sequel judging by the ending...

Well - I had a think and then threw in the towel and started again so now Im back to mission two. The game will be more enjoyable now I can actually heal myself so that I dont have to remain hidden from everything always. annoying, but meh - at least I can do it right this time!

Woo! level ten! Well I made it without another single skirmish so I could have just carried on rather than start again - but now Im loaded up a bit like arnie in that scene where he lands on the island at the end of commando smile
Another step in difficulty it seems. First attempts had me killed countless times - though I think if Ripley HAD done half a bottle of vodka with a load of mixers her time against the alien would have been similarly brief.
For me I think theres a sweet spot - a bit like a darts player - where some drinks are needed to be just at the right level - but a bit much and it all turns to ashes...

Bought it this afternoon for £7.99 - you overpaid paid by £1. laugh

Very good so far; more like a film that you are inside than a game.

LOL, no, I just can't type.

Quite enjoying it so far, as you say it's quite cinematic. Very pretty graphics although I keep suffering from stuttering so have been nudging the settings down bit by bit. Currently trying to not get shot to st in the Systech area.

I only played for an hour last night, so far nothing much has happened. I've all the graphics settings up to maximum with no performance problems, but my PC is fairly meaty.

I've just picked this up in the sale and very impressed. Just got to the first sight of the alien and really 'enjoying' the atmosphere! Well I say that but what I really mean is that I'm enjoying the atmosphere for a short time and then getting all tense and nervous, typically playing the game for about 30-40 mins before 'taking a break'!!

I loved up until I killed my first bad guy as they spotted me. They dropped a gun but the game wouldn't let me pick it up as I wasn't at the right spot in the game. Game breaking mechanic for me that as it totally ruined the immersion. Shame.
