Alien: Isolation
Discussion
The DX2 gives a 960x1080 per eye resolution. I tried it with Alien at EGX recently - it's... okay. I mean, the woman opposite me screamed and screamed. A chap nearby was completely still and then jumped up and tried to "avoid' the alien. It's that good.
But.. it's not retail and I wouldn't buy it yet.
Alien is great. Not bought it yet though - I'm keen to try it but after trying it in VR, I wonder if I'd regret waiting!

Just bought this, for anyone wondering, the cheapest place to get it currently is Simplygames for £32.85.
Ive just ordered from there, bargain, thought I would mention it on here and save some PH'ers some money.
ETA: That price is cheapest for console, PC is cheaper elsewhere, as below.

Got mine from GreenManGaming for pc. The uber edition was £44 but theres plenty of 20% off vouchers around, comes with a season pass, not sure if the one above does or not but I've never had a problem with GMGIve just ordered from there, bargain, thought I would mention it on here and save some PH'ers some money.
hmmm. I'm playing through and have got to the hospital stage where our friend makes an appearance (from the same place everytime - so balls to the "non scripted AI". He just seems to head straight for my fking locker and pull me out every time, whether I hold my breath or not. Cue massive backtrack to the last save point and having to wait for load screens and cut scene dialog over and over again.
Other than that - a bit generic / seen it all before / dead space / bioshock / Doom 3 / tape recorders / key cards / Hax0r minigame tosh to get through doors / "U R DOOMED" graffiti / crafting (pointlessly) / computer terminals with 4 digit codes that you need for the next door / angry and unhappy messages from grunts working for MEGASPACECORP INC / transits / swinging lightbulbs with scary shadows etc etc. GFX dont look especially next gen on PS4 to me (but then I'd say that about most PS4 games so far). Nice retro look and nods to the original film, but the character models and lip sync are terrible.

games designers - finding abandoned tape recorders with one particular message on them was kind of cool in Bioshock 1. But it is now really dated and also absurd - especially in the environment of a futuristic space craft. Are we really to believe everyone just had loads of reel to reel tape recorders on hand that they just casually chuck around the place? Stop doing it.

Sounds like anyone looking for frights AND originality should simply download the free playable trailer for Silent Hills (called PT demo).
Properly scary, with the twisted originality you expect from Guillermo del Toro

Apparently it's a long campaign and the best bits are near the beginning. Well I am 3-4 hours in and I have to say nothing has given me the proper st the bed frights of Doom 3 so far.
Picking up a headset adaptor to use my beats headphones on the way home, hopefully game has appeared.Apparently the biggest issue with the game is that its quite long and you spend most of that time, dying and redoing bits...as you die lots.....and lots.....and lots ...and....ahem.
But yeah, the Alien is seen as a bit of a bd, killing you as you open doors, do mini games, that means progress is stymied.
Still not gonna play it when on my own in the house....might grab one of the guinea pigs to sit with me.

That tells me you haven't played PT demo.... I generally laugh at things that others can't bear in the horror genre (not cause I'm well hard, I'm just good at rationalising and thinking of the sound guy just out of shot etc).
PT left me a little un-nerved I must say.

Been ages since I played doom 3, was a good game and one of the few I actually played without cheats just to get to the end after a while.
Dead Space I got for free when EA do a sale type thing on Origin, however I found the cumbersome movement annoying when counterpointed by the monsters being really quick. I really should give it another go though.
