RE: Project Cars: Preview

Indeed, the input is very much appreciated.
If released in November it would have got lost in the clamour for GTAV & Far Cry 4, and even though racer fans would have gone for PCARS 1st,those who may not be as mad keen as us on PH would have gone for the big names 1st,losing you importnat sales.
And if not 100% perfect then reviews of your 1st gaemaynot be that great, again not helping the $$$
Aah well,at least I have FM5,FH2,and The Crew when that comes out eventiually

Far too many games are rushed out the door these days and it has lead to almost a new criterion of assessing a new game: 'polish'. When my friends and I get a new game one of the first things we discuss is whether it feels like the finished and 'polished' article and invariably it doesn't any more.
I have no idea what state the game is in, but it's a decision I appreciate if your judgements are correct, which I'm sure they are.

if the delay is to get the game as they want it then that's acceptable. there's been too many games rushed to launch that have been glitchy and just not as good looking as should have been.
also acceptable to not release it in the middle of 3 other major titles. GTA5 is going to be the big seller, purely as people have been waiting for it on PS4 & XBone since it launched on the 360/ps3.
The delay works in my favour too, as it gives me longer to work on saving for a XBOne!

"Adding polish", is that a marketing term for "missed deadline"?
Ha, like that one!Without sounding negative, why was there a November release date given if indeed it actually needs 6 months of "polishing"? Obviously it wasnt going to be ready on this date, its not like, say , the printers burnt down or there was a sudden flood damaging stock, its the game is not ready and needs major work to finish, so why on earth was a date given in the first place. Unless it was to keep the interest high as DriveClub was struggling, but got a (semi) finished game out within a period of time after an major re-write, before PCars gave a release date.
It cries of "We need to give something other than another shiny video on YouTube".
Yes its a new platform (PS4) but its now been how long to write for the consoles?
If it takes too long to appear on shelves, people wont buy it as they will be bored with the wait.
Take BF4, yes it is flawed, but its a playable game and as much as it infuriates sometimes the online game, along with party chat makes it great. Better than a game with an "always on the horizon" release date..

Agree completely. Q4 looks very crowded indeed. I know I'll be getting GTA V again on the PS4, Halo probably on the Xbox One, and I already have FM 5 (which I believe is a cracking launch title) and FH2, which I'm really enjoying. This gives me plenty of time to play those games, and it makes it an easier decision to buy project cars, in March for me at least (with Forza Horizon 2 just being released). If released in November it would have got lost in the clamour for GTAV & Far Cry 4, and even though racer fans would have gone for PCARS 1st,those who may not be as mad keen as us on PH would have gone for the big names 1st,losing you importnat sales.

I have to say, very impressed with the contribution of Pete, the dev for Project Cars. The passion is clear to see, and the idea that professional racers are involved in the development, and can post realistic times to their rel life machinery is also promising. I like the idea of a proper full on career, with progression in each category. Reminds me of Grid, but hopefully this will be better that that! Will definetly get this, probably on the Xbox if it can be on 1080p.

Very much looking forward to this game. I think it could be the Gran Turismo of the next generation. I bought a PS4 thinking GT6 would be a launch title (possibly a bit of wishful thinking), but Polyphony seems to have their head stuck up too far. This seems to be far, far superior in every regard to what I'd even imagine GT7 will be.
Wish I could afford a PC and 4K monitor to utilize the game's full potential. I was actually planning on getting a "proper" gaming PC, but I ended up buying an Alfa Spider, instead!
I'm playing it on an ageing i7 with a GTX 760 and it's looking damn good here and smooth. Wish I could afford a PC and 4K monitor to utilize the game's full potential. I was actually planning on getting a "proper" gaming PC, but I ended up buying an Alfa Spider, instead!
A lot of games are rushed out incomplete these days, and it sucks when you've shelled out £50 on a hyped up new title only to feel disappointment within the first few minutes of playing it, so yes - I'd much rather have a great game later than a, okay game now.
But to address something mentioned further up, it does initially seem strange to need a whole 4 months to 'polish', but with games, it's not a case of 'we need a few more weeks to finish it up, then we'll release it..' - games do release in windows. The gaming news and review sites preview and discuss game releases in quarters, previews and gameplay are released at the big quarterly events like E3, so I think from a technical standpoint they may have only needed another month, but from a commercial standpoint, the next available window would be around March.
