A bit gutted as I have bought a PS4 just for this. Having said that I'm enjoying Destiny and with GTA V coming out next month I was going to be pulling my hair out to decide which to play.

Glad I got called into work early today as I was popping into GAME to put a deposit on it wink

Hope I can blag a visit to the studio between now and the release date....hint hint smile

Quite dissapointed about this as for me 'needs further polish' = it's not finished, and waiting for a more competitive release window = it's not good enough to compete with the big boys. Whether that's the case or not it's how it comes across. I hope this isn't going to be another driveclub

Thinking the same. Hopefully by release we'll know what wheels, pedals etc are going to be supported 'long-term' by the PS4.

I hope this game release doesn't drag like GT5 did... mad

I can't be arsed with wheels

If I want to feel like I'm on track I book one up

I'm just as happy on the controller

Using a controller in racing games is like mixing a cake with your face. If you can follow the racing line perfectly through Parabolica using just the stick I salute you. The same goes for setting revs on the stick/buttons or braking when ABS is disabled in games - I and I bet 99% of others struggle.

Obviously nothing will compare to actually getting on track but a bog-standard track day won't give me the opportunity to race other competitors or exceed the limits of my ability inexpensively. smile

Don't get this.

Just two days ago the Pcars guy on here was banging on about it should be ready and doing everything they can to make November, then says have to push it back 6 months to polish? Surely he would have known two days ago they where six months away rather than using this thread to say it will be november?

He might have been as surprised as you. Things don't always work the way you imagine in games production, any more than they do in any other field. If he knew it was about to get delayed, I doubt he'd have popped up on Pistonheads at all, so cut him a bit of slack... wink

Was going to hang off buying Forza Horizon 2 because this was coming out, got an e-mail from Amazon telling me the release date moved. 5 minutes later I was in the car on the way to buying FH2.

You just cost me money Project Cars, damn you!

But a minor tweak would shirley not take that long to rectify? 6 months is a massive timescale, which indicates a fairly big issue would it not? Odd also how its across the board, not just PS4 for example. Would have thought sales are sales if it worked on the other platforms ok?

Thanks for your worldly knowledge and advise. Last time I looked this was a public forum with peoples opinions, this happens to be mine. I would have been in the queue to buy it, so no need to try and belittle me because I'm not sucking up like some of the other disappointed people.

Yeah, sorry guys, the pushback to March is official. I know it's disappointing, but it's the right decision.
Thank you for the official update on the delay, it's appreciated. Slightly disappointed that we have to wait until March, but so be it.

I have cancelled my pre-order on the Thrustmaster T300RS on the strength of this information. Perhaps I can avoid the initial high price point of the steering wheel by waiting until March to purchase. I wonder how many others have cancelled the steering wheel order because of this news?

Another vote for the inclusion of Knockhill and Thruxton to make up for the delay ;o)

Cheers,
Steve

Its not even March for god sake, its the 20th March!! Whats the bettings it will be the same as driveclub and will be delayed until next Oct.

Now I know the chap is on here and seems like a nice chap. BUT it really annoys me when people set deadlines and dont meet them - I physically cannot get away with that in my business. Therefore I set deadlines that are realistic and then move heaven and earth to ensure I meet them.... from my limited experience these games companies just add on 6 months as and when they need them. Its really disappointing....

Indeed.

Seems a little strange to pull your game for 'polish' and to avoid a busy launch window, but miss out on the lucrative Christmas sales period at the same time.

I would rather a product be delayed than launched half baked. I've played far too many games (usually EA) that have been rush released for a deadline but been massive disappointments. If someone on the PCars team suddenly decided that something else had to be added or changed then fine.

"Primarily, this has come about because a couple of other big games have announced they are shipping around the same time as our planned first date. We know it might be a little hard to believe but this would have had a very significant impact on our initial sales (and the initial sales period is critical as that’s when the majority occur). It became immediately clear therefore that we’d need to move away from this release window."

Probably the most honest explanation I have ever heard for a game delay.Launch delays have been around since gaming began and the more frustrated people are, the more it shows that the product is a good one and worth waiting for.

yes As a fan of the Battlefield series, almost everyone on the official Battlelog forums wishes they would've held back on releasing the game until all the bugs were worked out. Instead, now EA and Dice have a lot of pissed-off former customers. That being said, my experience with BF4 has been an overwhelmingly positive one, apart from a few hiccups when they release DLC.

When you think about it, the developers of PCars would likely be lambasted if they released it in November and it had a few bugs. It's a case of, "damned if they do; damned if they don't". I don't envy game developers' jobs!
