Sorry to cut your post up but could you clarify this line please? I absolutely hate it when adter you've bought a game you are then required to spend out time and time again in order to use it fully..
Or have I read it wrong?
Regardless, this has convinced me to buy a ps4..
I think that this means that all cars and tracks are available from the start,so no grind to get cash for all the good toys...this has been stated before by pCars, but ,at least on the XBone, you can start playing when only x% installed,so in THAT situation, not everything will be available, but that's only when installing Or have I read it wrong?

apologies if im talking carp
We do not have an in-game currency, and we don't start you off in a rickety hatchback and force you to grind your way to the good stuff.
All content is available from the off.
Our single-player mode, rather than being structured like you'd expect from previous console racers, is much closer to a sports game. You start off by choosing a discipline from any of the available motorsports (car types revealed so far include modern open wheel, GT, track-day cars, Le Mans prototypes and more - see http://www.projectcarsgame.com/cars.html for an up-to-date list). You then compete in an introductory season made up of proper race weekends (and you choose whether to include practice, qualifying, and so on). At the end of the season, you can stick with the discipline you're doing, or change out to another one. We're really trying to make our Career mode just that: a virtual interpretation of the actual careers that real-life drivers embark on.
My reference to the Sony / Microsoft requirements is down to the new sets of features that the current generation of consoles look to showcase. One of those (common to both systems) is to allow players to get on with gameplay before the game has fully downloaded and/or installed. It means that we let you loose on a limited amount of content as soon as it's present on your hard drive, with the full game becoming available as and when it's downloaded / installed.
We absolutely do not lock off parts of the game behind a pay wall. It's all there for the taking from the get go (other than DLC, which is to be expected – but even that doesn't feature any cars that are more expensive than others; we do our best to be player-centred the whole way through).
Pete, I really hope you are going to include every type and edition of Miata/MX5/Eunos Roadster that's ever been created.
Seriously though, this is looking like the game that will force me into buying a PS4. I just hope it will have the legs to last longer than the old Toca titles that just gave you different race cars to race and not much more. I'm no chav but I love to mod cars in game and upgrade them. Taking 3-4 similar (or different) cars and upgrading them to a similar performance level and hot lapping to find the best and worst is something that keeps me going back to the GT games year after year. Nerdy perhaps but I don't see this being possible with Project Cars.

Okay, bad news first: we don't have vehicle upgrades in the same way that you might be used to with other console racers. It just doesn't 'fit' with the kind of story we are wanting to tell with Project CARS. Instead, we've chosen the right cars to be competitive with each other in a given class. There's no God Car which you can enter in a race and automatically win (which is something I find breaks racing in games that do have upgrades - I just enter the most powerful possible car that's allowed to compete in a give race, and nuke the opposition). That said......we do have something that scratches the same itch, and that's tuning. There's a very comprehensive tuning system in there, which we know (via feedback from the community at WMD) speaks to the same sort of 'want' as vehicle upgrades do. So instead of upgrading cars to match each other, we have vehicles that are already matched, and then players tweak suspension, gear ratios, camber, wastegate pressures, damper strengths, etc, to find the best possible setup for a particular track, or race, or weather condition, or climate, or time of year, or whatever. If it's chasing lap times that you're after, we've got your back.

Now THAT seems ideal... let Project CARS pay for all the expensive upgrades, and let the player tweak the settings.
Its like the FM5 tuning, without having to install the good bits first. Actually better as you have more options by the look of it...not that i will be able to tune them well anyway ( whichraises another question, can you share tunes in the community?) Brilliant!

Thanks for the answers Pete. Sounds really good. Now to work on the Mrs. One other thing... Any chance of Thruxton. I don't think I have seen in a console game since the original Toca Touring Cars. I would to see it in Project Cars. Trying to hang on the twitchy TCs around the back of that track and into Church at full speed was so nut tightening that I can still remember it right back from 1997.

No Thruxton, but if you like British tracks, you'll like Silverstone. And Brands Hatch. And Oulton Park. And some others that we haven't officially officially announced yet.We got lots of tracks, and lots of variations of each. And some historic stuff coming further down the line, too.

Couple of questions, if I may
You may!BanjoMaster said:
Do you have any more manufacturer licenses to be revealed before the launch?
Yes! Keep an eye on http://www.projectcarsgame.com/cars.html for more reveals in the run up to launch.BanjoMaster said:
What are the plans for supporting the game with new content after the launch as well?
Yeah, we've got a pile of stuff coming, so no worries on this front. We've got plans for at least two years' worth of stuff, ranging from new cars of all sorts, to new tracks and variants, to new motorsport disciplines, and more. We've taken community support deadly seriously in the years prior to launch, and it's something we're mirroring post-release. I can't go into specifics just now, but we reckon you'll be pleasantly surprised.sidaorb said:
..... Would love to take a TWR XJS around Mount Panorama against Holdens or a Rover SD1 around Brands against Dolomites and Capris.
Now THAT would be my heaven, the old Sloon car championship cars,MkII Jag,Ford Falcon,SD1,Capri,Mini,Lotus Cortina, even the Hillman Imp (Although I suspect anyone outside the UK,or any young brits, will just look at it & go "Huh?"MuffDaddy said:
Given the Oculus development are you considering Samsung Gear VR?
Although our engine's scalable, it's not quite scalable enough to fit on a mobile phone just yet. Nothing to reveal on the Samsung Galaxy VR front at the moment – you'll just have to make do with Oculus and Morpheus support!PJDubyaM said:

Shame, because I have a LOT of Samsung Gear VRs :-)PJDubyaM said:

I suspect its already been thought of - but to race around some old / defunct circuits would be fantastic! Tracks like Crystal Palace, Sudschleife, Brooklands, Reims, Zandvoort, Birmingham Super Prix etc - would be awesome! We got lots of tracks, and lots of variations of each. I had been resisting buying an XBOne - but this is going to be the game that forces me to buy one!
