I suspect its already been thought of - but to race around some old / defunct circuits would be fantastic! Tracks like Crystal Palace, Sudschleife, Brooklands, Reims, Zandvoort, Birmingham Super Prix etc - would be awesome!
Yeah, that would be awesome, wouldn't it?

....Wheel compatibility stuff...
Sincerely many thanks for taking the time to reply, I do appreciate it. It feels like there's a lot to this situation, potentially with Sony / Logitech chiefly and the consumer is the one left in the mire. If only Thrustmaster wheels are offered, I'm out. I neither want a cheapo non-force wheel or another £300+ investment in a wheel to play a game (Thrustmaster's only options). Driving games are not the same on a pad, either.

Fingers crossed something changes and we get positive news soon smile
Agree on all points, it would be a shame if things between Sony/Logitech weren't resolved.
It would appear Sony have signed an exclusive deal with Thrustmaster, even supporting wheels built before PS4 release (putting to bed any "security chip / designed for PS4" stories.)

It's a shame, as many are not buying PS4, never mind Project CARS, because of this.

….over 25 thousand potential purchasers - that's a lot of revenue to turn your back on.

Frankly, it would be nice for Sony to state the situation - i.e. Thrustmaster have a deal for X months / years / forever etc, instead of the silence they are giving the requests at present.

Although our engine's scalable, it's not quite scalable enough to fit on a mobile phone just yet. Nothing to reveal on the Samsung Galaxy VR front at the moment – you'll just have to make do with Oculus and Morpheus support!
Shame, because I have a LOT of Samsung Gear VRs :-)
Ah. Ooh. Do we need to have a conversation, then?

Awesome!

I presume there's no hope of a graphically dumbed-down version for the PS3? Can't afford a PS4 right now frown
We were, back in the day, but then next-gen came along, and we did what we always do: asked the community at WMD what they thought. And so yeah, no more last-gen stuff. I feel your pain, though – only a week or two ago, I flogged my old 360 and Microsoft Racing Wheel and a pile of games to help fund an Xbox One. Didn't get much for them (depressingly so!), but every little helps.

This is being done, yeah. Full matchmaking in there (and I'm fairly sure that hosts can kick players). Should make sure that you're matched against the sort of people that you want to be matched against.

We don't have a mode where we switch off collision detection entirely – but cars are ghosted just after a reset (to stop them being hit by faster traffic). You can also race ghosts for an approximation of what you're talking about. I don't think I've ever heard of a racing game that allows collisions to be turned off completely, but I'll put it to the team!
That's great. Sorry that I missed your posts I hadn't realised we had the lead producer reading and replying to posts on this thread!
I'm looking forward to seeing what it's like and it sounds like you're going the 'right way'. Also the geek in me loves the details. smile

Yeah, we've got a pile of stuff coming, so no worries on this front. We've got plans for at least two years' worth of stuff, ranging from new cars of all sorts, to new tracks and variants, to new motorsport disciplines, and more. We've taken community support deadly seriously in the years prior to launch, and it's something we're mirroring post-release. I can't go into specifics just now, but we reckon you'll be pleasantly surprised.
Outstanding biggrin Just what I was wanting to hear biggrin You've got enough of a job just keeping the GT3 category up to date in the game over the next year! I cannot wait to see what you've got lined up. Personally I'd love to see Zandvoort and Fuji (not a massive fan of the track layout itself after Tilke nuked it, but it's one of those 'spiritual motorsport home' places that just deserves to be in there), but I'm sure I'm not the first one to mention those places smile

I've been following the game's development for a while now having missed out on signing up for WMD when we had the chance, and to be honest the thing I miss out on the most is actually getting to follow the model development threads as they progress on the forums. Will you be keeping something similar going after the games launch i.e. WMD forums roughly like they are now but open to all purchasers?

Guys can you keep the chatter on steering wheels and VR to a minimum, we're trying to talk about the game here smile

I've been in the beta since forever, and while it does look gorgeous, it still doesn't feel 'right' yet.

Assetto Corsa, rFactor2 and iRacing all have it beat. Hell, even Live For Speed drives better.

If you want a PRETTY game, then this is for you.

Is the force feedback equal on all the wheels, I've read places that certain games feel better on certain wheels, for example, gt6 is supposed to feel more realistic on the dfgt then a t500rs despite both being official gt wheels.
This is due to inertia in the motors as they speed up/down and 'cogging' due to larger motors having greater changes in magnetism as the motor is moved. The T500RS has good pedals like the G27 but it's a bit over-damped to hide the cogging/inertia. You don't need the extra torque of a T500RS it's too powerful even at 50% and at 100% it's like going to the gym. I'm not joking!

The T300RS will be the wheel to get as it uses a brushless motor that's smaller and smoother. It should also be about £100 cheaper as the TX458 wheel is it's twin for the Xbox One and is £220-250.

I returned my TX458 though. Everything feels a bit weird with no motion feedback and there's a noticeable lag between how you, the wheel and the car reacts. It's not natural at all and if you can get competitive lap times with a controller I wouldn't bother getting one. The DFGT I think is awful at least get a G27/TX458/T300RS. I warn you though it's not like real car steering there's no real elasticity it's just a basic weight, jolting over bumps and caster simulation. Also the pedal stiffness is too high on the TX458/T300RS and you need a decent (expensive) wheel/pedal stand you can bolt it to.

Servo drive wheels are what the F1 teams use because they are far more accurate but they cost ££££ and you've still got no motion feedback.

I'm Lead Producer over at Slightly Mad Studios, and one of the people behind Project CARS. Not been there since the beginning, but proud to be working on it.

Any questions: fire away!

On the question of sim vs. arcade: yes there are lots of (switchable) assists. For the media events, we tend to turn a lot of them on, simply to make sure that the majority of players have a positive time (if you throw a regular gamer / journo into a full sim situation, the results ain't going to be pretty...). The physics system runs at 600Hz, and the team are rightly proud of what they've achieved.
Hello again!

Another question, would it be possible to have somebody from gt planet to have a hands on comparison between this fame and Gran Turismo?

It would be lovely to see how it compares, or when will the proper reviews be done and released?

I so want this game to be good but the last few times I have been excited about a game (gt5 and gt6). I thought they were a big let down!

If this game is as good as it sounds it deserves to take all the Gran Turismo fans, as the creator of that game(can't be arsed to google his name) has taken his eye off the ball do much, I mean the last version you could drive on the moon wtf???.

Going to save my pennies now for a wheel for the ps4 and a racing seat!

We-e-ell, there's always bloody one, isn't there?

We think – no, we know – that our simulation is punching well above its weight, and is right up with the very best in the world (commercial or otherwise), but if you prefer another interpretation of motorsport, that's all groovy.

If there's any doubt as to the fidelity and accuracy of what we're doing, a quick search of YouTube – where professional drivers are posting pCARS times that are within a tenth of a second of their real world times - should be more than enough to allay any fears.

We're proud of what we're putting out there, and – IMHumbleO – rightly so.

PJDubyaM - I have a question if you don't mind.

I'm 100% getting the game for the PS4, however I'm weighing up whether or not to pre-order, and whether to get the Limited Edition.

On the official site it says that the Ltd Edition comes with 5 extra cars, and pre-ordering yields a further 3 special cars.

Can you confirm if these cars are definitely exclusive to these versions / conditions?

The Ltd Edition comes with the Mclaren F1, and I don't want to buy a version that doesn't include it.

Any info you can offer?

Cheers.

Thanks for the answers! Great job you're doing here answering all the questions - I'm sure it's well appreciated by all smile

One question - will we have adjustable chase cam? I know at least the gtplanet community has wanted this feature for many years now and I'm sure that others wouldn't mind either! smile

Maybe.

(Disclaimer: Timppaq is at from our community at WMD. He's pulling my leg (grrrr!). I'm pulling his back.)
