I played and finished Heavy Rain. Quite good fun.

Quite ground breaking at the time for the PS3. Have yet to see anything since that has caused so much thought.

Have you played beyond two souls?

My left thumb stick rubber started peeling away (after 100's of hours on BF4 though). Apparently a common issue and Sony will replace it. I couldn't be bothered to send mine back so i bought some Orb PS4 thumb grips off Amazon for £3. Work a treat and should last.

Aha, cheers, purchased also, blamed one of my sons for chewing the controller didn't realise it was a common issue!

Just to say.. the Steam Autumn Sale is now on...

That's part of the reason I don't own a console.

I stuck the old PS3 back on after taking a few weeks to get used to a PS4 and a gaming PC.

A couple thoughts were;

1, Jesus Christ the PC is a clart on.
2, The PS3 now looks what the PS2 did when we first upgraded to the PS3... The PS4 is a vast improvement, but I only saw it when looking back over!

I have thought the same, going from Xbox360 to PS4.

Again, to add to the conversation, the only games I really play are GTA V (got on 360) and FIFA (got on 360). I didn't think the graphical differences were noticeable...until I fired up both games on the 360, and they look like PS2 gen games now.

I figured this would be the case.

Some basic examples - when I first started playing BF4 online I was so impressed with the graphics I kept being killed because I was looking around. Things like a reflection the scopes which changes accurately, the sunshine through trees. The fact that at one point I was playing and the OH came into the room and said "what film are you watching"....

Thing is, play for about 30 mins on a game worth playing, and it's irrelevant.

I've spent more time this year playing EV Nova, Open TTD, Tie Fighter, NFS Porsche, C&C Generals, Red Alert 2, and they're all still great, addictive, and visually pleasing to the eye.

If you only play newer versions of games because they look better, then the games must be pretty crappy I'd say.

Only genuine disappointment I've played on my PS4 has been Destiny, it just felt completely hollow. However, I have been extremely impressed with Battlefield 4 (I've clocked around 100 hours online and I'm still not even close to being bored) and Far Cry 4 (only had it for about a week but can't put it down. It's like 3 but just much bigger and more impressive in almost every way). I've also been lucky to not experience any issues with my PS4 except for one time when it wouldn't turn on for a couple of minutes. However, hit and miss games and sometimes defective hardware are often the price we pay for being early adopters. Gaming platforms often don't mature for a couple of years. Wait until this time next year when developers have really got to grips with system capabilities and I'm sure the quality of games will start to blow us out of the water (more so than already in my case).

I'm finished with consoles after the ps4. PC with a rift next.

My disappointments:
Logitech wheel not compatible.
Drive club was crap, not worth the wait.
Paying for playstation plus and not getting online.
Most the games are overpriced.
Most the games are from the PS3.
You can't put music onto it.
The customer care is ridiculous - 2 hours on hold to be told there is nothing they can do.
Hacked console and being responsible for it is flipping ridiculous, nearly £200 down. Feels like I've been conned.
This company is a dinosaur. Bring back Sega.

Only recently bought an Xbox one, having had a 360 previously.
Hadn't been especially bothered about getting a new console but it ended up being a pretty decent deal for getting the console with 4 games and finally means I've got myself a blu ray player. (Got it with horizon and oddly got my 360 when test drive unlimited was released).
The forza games are good but nothing new. My favourite games on the 360 were fallout 3, deus ex human revolution and oblivion so waiting for some games that really appeal. I didnt have all that many 360 games, I know what sort of games I like and tend to wait for them to turn up rather than burning through piles of generic stuff.
A gaming PC would be ideal for playing games, but isn't ideal in my shoebox of a flat. I've tried and a console just gives me an easier time!

Have you tried Far Cry 4 ? It's a sandbox game. From your game preferences it might be worth a look.

Is gaming from the big boys just first person shooters or variations of that these days?

If you don't want to run round shooting the crap out of people there is not much on offer imho from Sony or Microsoft platforms.

What about a new Ico? A new Mystical Ninja? New Sega Rally? A New Daytona? Back to Basics Ridge Racer? New R-Type? Street Fighter? A new SNK Beat 'Em Up?

I bought my PS4 on release day last year.

Overall I'd say I'm very happy with console itself, I've had no rubber peeling issues, no disc eject issues. The only problems I've had has been with PSN being down, but that's has been countered somewhat by the free games I get from the PS+ subscription, I've picked up some little gems through that.

For me, the let down has been games.

I bought, on release, Watch Dogs, Destiny and Driveclub, only to sell them on shortly after. So much hype but bitter disappointments.

Games I've been pleased with that I play the most have been Assassin's Creed; Black Flag, The Last Of Us: Remastered, Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition and GTA5.

Problem is, none of these are exclusive to Playstation, or even next-gen, I could've bought them all on PS3.

Overall I am happy with the purchase, I think it's a superb console and I don't regret buying it, and certainly games like GTA5 deserve the best possible platform available to play on.

The let down has been new games, they simply haven't delivered yet. My fingers are crossed for next year really - The Witcher 3, Bloodborne, MGS: Phantom Pain and Project CARS.
