Depends what games she plans on playing, a GTX 970 would be overkill for most games. Benchmarks currently put it at around the third best card available.

I have personally been looking at builds around £600 and I have an i5-4690k, Asus Z97-K motherboard and would be looking at a 280X.

That would be my suggestion, would also be nice to hear from someone a little more in the know.

It's about 25% faster I think. So if your 770 is struggling then definitely a good upgrade, if it's not struggling then something faster will be along in no time

I thought the 970 is the new giant slayer at it's price point? I'm after one after xmas.
