No, you get to choose the first one for free. I'm a control wizard, I picked a fighter type who engages up close and keeps the heat off me. The best thing is, when he is engaging targets you can use your choke-lift to disable and enemy, then freeze ray them, then hit them with the icicle projectile as they unfreeze, then repeat. If you do it right, a lot of lone enemies, even big, powerful ones won't be able to get a shot off, and your companion will remain unharmed, as will you.
well for the life of me I can not find this companion anywhere? i have searched thro all menus. should I have collected him from the companion guide man woman thing?

IIRC you need to speak to the companion shop in Neverwinter. They'll gift you a companion.

Another thing that isn't clear as I had pathfinding fault whilst on the quest, you'll get a quest in the Blackdagger ruins to retrieve an artifict. This is in the Cragmire Barrows, not Cragmire Crypt. As I say, the pathfinder for the quest didn't work, so when I stumbled across the Barrows and re-activated the quest, I was pleased to finish it and you get the choice of some cool rewards at the end too.

Found it, the companion was in my inventory as an item. I have the Orc skirmish and relic hunting events to complete but cant get neither to activate, also have to go and see the linkletters now.

I'm currently in the Dragon Cult side of the Neverdeath graveyard. I had a great time earlier on fighting that massive dragon that spawns in the central arena with about 20 other players. As is often the way with public events, once you get a few players together and do some damage, more players join and soon enough you've got the support you need to win. However, after beating it I didn't get the achievement for beating a dragon. Hmm.

The slowdown at some points in this game is ridiculous too. It seems entirely random too. I didn't have a hint of slowdown during the aforementioned Charthraxis fight, but when I returned later with just one other NPC, the dragon spawned and my game was frozen for about ten seconds! It's dire in places.

Overall though, it's still great fun. The success of this game will hopefully pave the way for more MMO's on consoles in future.

One thing to look out for in the Craftsman's Rest area is the Lair Of The Mad Dragon quest. It's a repeatable queue dungeon with a dragon boss at the end (you can do the dungeon long before you get he quest for it). The queueing system this dungeon is bugged and it'll out you into a game which is concluded and the boss defeated with no exit portal. The pathfinder trail is also confused and leads you to a dead end. If the map is empty, the boss is dead. Press 'back' and select 'leave group' and you'll be teleported back to the main instance but luckily, the dungeon will register as complete. So even if you get dropped into a finished game you can take the credit and complete the quest.

I finished the Waterclock Guild quest today and wrapped up Neverdeath Graveyard. There are loads of quests to do there between four NPC quest givers so get on with it!

I stopped into Helmhold or whatever it's called as my next location to fight through (Ebon Downs sounds like another graveyard and I've had enough of those for now!). On arriving, two players were merrily chatting away in the chat window. They must have had keyboards. One thing is certain, as we see the rise of the console MMO is it becoming woefully apparent that we need better keyboard options. The Xbox One Feb 2014 update promised keyboard compatibility, but the market for working keyboards seems uselsss. The Logitech Harmony Smart seems to be the only one which explicitly states that it will work on the Xbox One. The Microsoft wireless multimedia keyboard doesn't! Either that, or have one of those clumsy keypads that fits into the bottom of the pad (right where I plug my headphones).

There needs to be more options for keyboards on the Xbox, definitely.

How are you getting on for storage? It annoys me that there is no main vault to chuck everything into, my inventory is constantly full and I do not want to discard things that I may need in the future.

No! don't give them keyboards! The gold scammers will start turning up, if they haven't already wink

It sounds like the lag is as bad as PC is right now frown Hopefully it improves a bit, the servers don't seem to be the best, though it's been some time since it's been this bad. It's possible it'll be sorted to some extent with tomorrows update, hopefully Xbox is updated at the same time. Not sure much else needs to be said about PC at the moment!

If you've not yet got there, one of the quests in Neverdeath gives you another bag which helps a bit.

It's annoying they don't give you as many slots as profession resources, it gets a little easier at endgame depending what sort of policy you have on stuff, as you'll soon have artifact equipment to pile blue gear and refinement items into.

Enchants and runes are worth refining into what you want to slot up to rank 5 (higher ranks are different, but don't waste your AD on refining r5>r6 and buy at the AH, you'll only burn refinement resources or worse multiple preservation wards). You can use everything else to level up your first Artifact or sell on the AH.

I tend to identify greens only if I've got plenty of dropped scrolls and always identify blues. Sell all greens to NPC and check blues aren't worth decent AD (this could be slow on Xbox, as I guess you can't drag items into AH search) before selling those. That's quite a good return of gold for the numbers of drops to needing to spend more than the gold price in equivalent AD on scrolls.

I was going to say, I've just finished the quests in Neverdeath and the Waterclock Guild tomb gives a 10 item storage bag as a reward. Very useful, though space hasn't been a huge issue for me. I mainly sell greens without identifying, blues for other classes get sold, blues for my class get identified and what I don't use gets sold.

I haven't suffered too much with lag or frame rate drops, at least not as much as I did when the game first came out. The game was available to download for a few days but remained locked until a certain date, on the first day you could play the game was dropping frames like Mos Def drops rhymes.

Im level 25 'Scourge Warlock' and been happy milling around going into dungeons etc battling anything and everything, but i dont think ive got to grips with 'Refining Minerals/Items' and other stuff like that lol

Any help or direction would be appreciated smile

I had a go at Charthraxis last night, there were four of us milling about the encounter area, but in the time it took Charthraxis to to show up, the rest of the guys buggered off and I ended up fighting him alone, I couldn't even make his health bar move before he killed me. They should have put this guy in a queue system to ensure that players go in as groups.

Four players would be a struggle unless they were all level 60 with top spec gear, and even then...

Charthraxis is easily doable if you can bring the weight of numbers to bear against him. I've probably been party to about ten events where we've beaten him, and perhaps one where it was just me fighting against him. Check your instance on the menu screen to make sure it's nearly full, so you have the best chance of players turning up to help beat him. Then it's just a case of getting enough players together to beat him. His health bar turns up on your HUD even if you're not fighting him, so other players can see that he's arrived and can join in the battle.

If you're a relatively weak character, you can help by fighting his minions and drawing their attention away from the high level characters who are dealing the big damage to Charthraxis. Also, use potions to buff you character, around that point you're going to start getting lots of useful potions that will otherwise clog up your inventory, and it's a big help to buff your PEN or CRIT or whatever.

I'm at Level 45 in Vellosk. Still a very enjoyable game despite the frame rate issues (just done the Pirate King dungeon, the last boss was a slideshow).

Carthraxis is easily beatable with a weight numbers against him. There is another dragon in Ebon Downs which I'm sure was easier before the last patch, but in any event is easier than Carthraxis. Will I bother to beat 59 dragons? That's what I'm aiming for.

I'm at about level 30 at the moment, still trudging around Neverdeath graveyard. I beat Carthraxis the other night, there was just loads of us wailing away on him, took him down easily.

My level was too high for that dungeon by the time I got the quest for it (though I had completed it before I got the quest using the drop in queue). That is one gripe I have, if you do all the quests and some dungeons on the side, you're often too highly levelled to actually do a dungeon once you've got a quest for doing it. I'd beaten Idris twice by dropping in, so I was pissed off to find that once I got the quest, I couldn't actually join the dungeon by the queue menu. That means either doing it yourself (impossible) or trying to party up at the gate with passing adventurers (never works).
