Elder Scrolls Online to be free to play?

Rumours suggesting an announcement is due with ESO adopting a free to play system.
I'd definitely be interested if this happened, I didn't bother with the game due to the subscription requirement on top of the game purchase (plus no guarantee I'd be able to play enough to justify the expense)

That's a really bad idea.
With Elite taking up all my time at the moment, GTAV finally coming to PC in March, and of course the many (many) games I haven't even got around to downloading from the last couple of Steam sales, I have quite enough to keep me occupied. Given the god-knows-how-many-100s of hours I sunk into Skyrim there quite simply aren't enough hours in the day for ESO as well

I love the Elder Scrolls series and I enjoy a good MMORPG, but just couldn't justify this game for the price.
If ESO goes Free to play, I will be all over it.
It's going buy-to-play, so you'll still need to fork out for a copy of the game. That said, you can pick it up on Amazon now for £14, or a tenner from the online CD key sellers (if they have it in stock). If ESO goes Free to play, I will be all over it.
I played for a couple of months at launch; it was ok but not enough to justify the subscription. Looking forward to giving it another go though.

17th of March for PC free to play. Just picked up a copy from Tesco for £15 with 30 day free trial which will take me nicely into the freebie zone.
Might be a good time to pick up a cheap copy before they do a little re-promotion and the prices go up a bit.
I assume you'll still need to purchase a copy then? Unlike WoT say which you can download and play for free?Might be a good time to pick up a cheap copy before they do a little re-promotion and the prices go up a bit.

http://www.forbes.com/sites/davidewalt/2015/01/21/elder-scrolls-online-goes-free-to-play-surprising-no-one/Yes, plus there is still a subscription option for a premium membership service, plus extra costs for DLC and customisation items.
Took the plunge an ordered a copy yesterday which comes with the 30 day trial.
Have to say I'm not really a fan so far, the combat feels like trying to write with wrong hand compared with Skyrim and (probably as a result) it doesn't help my characters major strength seems to be getting killed I assume you need to play this in groups? Couple times I've fought alongside another player which is a bit easier.

Um..................no. Not bought it yet.
Funnily enough I have just re-installed Oblivion and after finding I hadn't saved off all the mod info data I took hours checking my old save games (which I had saved) in Wrye Bash to find out which esm/esp plugins were used and them tracking down the mods that used them, downloading and installing them (90 of them), until I I was able to load up my old save game without the "this save relies on plugins that are missing" message. And since I last played Oblivion in 2012, adding some newer ones and ENB as well = new game.
/sad
I might later though when I remember.

I've started playing this again since it went free and I have to say it's really getting under my skin. Very enjoyable since I joined a guild, not that I'm too active but the extra chat etc is cool.
One thing that sounds pretty awesome on the upcoming console release is the proximity chat seems to have been pretty well implemented in surround sound and is making grouping in dungeons etc pretty easy and more fun than text box chat in the PC version.
I'll definitely be shifting at least one toon onto the XB1 in June
