There is one of those early pre-release walkthoughs on youtube and although I thought it looked really great I just could not see that it gave any thing new that has already been done hundreds of times before.

Reviews are looking encouraging.

I'll keep an eye on prices for the PC version and may get it when the price inevitably falls in around a month (which is what usually happens for PC games).

Was playing this all night yesterday, Really enjoying it.
reminds be of dead island but much better. The free running and climbing is fun and fast and adds a unique feat, similar to mirrors edge.
Zombies are slow in the day and its easy to have fun, however at night it completely changes. another type of zombie stalks the streets, that can run and climb faster than you can. it adds a stealth element at night, where xp is doubled and the rewards are greater.

Has a quick blast at coop which was fun and good to work as team, however it was hard trying to find a match without it dropping out.

i look forward to playing it more.

If any one wants to coop of ps4: Mort-El 1987

Got this for PC, great graphics and decent fps with everything turned up full, bar the view distance.

Everyone online (forums, reddit and reviews and whatever) seems to be losing their minds at how unexpectedly good it is, and I'm inclined to agree. It seems to be the first game that's 'next gen' enough for console players too. I've got a friend that has it on PS4 and he says it's the first proper PS4 game that doesn't feel like a slightly souped up PS3/Xbox 360 game.

Also, it's long, which makes a change. I've logged about 6 hours so far, and am 5% through the story! I've been kept busy with side missions so far...

And there's also the fact that it's genuinely fking scary, I've nearly st myself on more than one occasion.

Hmm, maybe too scary for me. I prefer the stand and hack 'em Dead Island style....

What's the save mechanism like? Proper savegames, checkpoints, or the weird bdry that Far Cry 3 & 4 use?

It just autosaves. It'll do it randomly, but also when you complete checkpoints or hard missions. You can also save it by 'sleeping', which I haven't needed to. Seems to be a good mechanism to be honest, you can just get on with the game and not worry about it. If you die, you just re-appear close to where you were last in a safe house.

Hmmm. I know some people are dead against it (no pun intended) but I prefer being able to QuickSave and explicitly save, rather than relying on checkpoints / autosave. I know some people abuse it, but I really hate the concept of having to press on to the next checkpoint in order to not lose progress.

I probably didn't explain it very well, but you don't need to press on to checkpoints or anything. It all seems to happen nicely in the background, there's no messing around. I've just been quitting and closing, and when I come back to it have been exactly where I expected to IYSWIM - quite refreshing compared to other games.

Definitely worth getting though even if you hate the save types, the game is incredible. Best one I've played since The Last Of Us, which was the best game I've ever played by a huge margin.

I'm waiting for the physical disc version to come - delayed until February 27th outside of America! What a blow! But it's a good chunk cheaper than downloading and leaves you with something to trade in at the end. Also, if you preorder you get three DLC bundles free by way of apology.

It does look very good though. It's the game that the Dead Island developers wanted to make, so hopefully it lives up to their vision!

Ah, I see. Thanks for the clarification! I feared it might be checkpoint-based but that sounds quite acceptable. thumbup

Not necessarily. Many games require Steam activation in order to play them. Once activated, then it's non-transferable. You could sell the physical media on but the buyer would find it useless as they wouldn't be able to play it as it wouldn't activate.

I'm not saying that is definitely the case for this game, but it certainly seems to be the way the industry is going.

Needless to say I've never encountered that with my Xbox or PlayStation.

It's £39.99 on Steam for the PC version currently. I think I'll wait a while. I predict it will be more like £24.99 in a month or so. I'll probably buy in then - that's more like the price point at which I am comfortable.

Not on console. Steam activation only applies to PC.
