Anyone else playing this city builder? I used to love the old sim city, but the last one was a shower of st. Nothing in recent years has impressed me, Cities XL/XXL was rubbish (nothing to do with this game in anyway). I stumbled across this game a few weeks back by accident on youtube. One of the channels I subscribe to was doing a lets play on it. It got released yesterday and I have to say its brilliant. So if you liked the old sim city games then this is for you.

I was tempted with this but had wrongly assumed it was part of the Cities XL series. Having found out it wasn't I went ahead and bought it last night. Not managed to play much but I'm liking what I've seen so far.

Oh, if you are playing you may like to know that Playfire to challenges with GMG credit as rewards. Free money for playing the game (and others)

That was what I thought when I first saw it, another crappy "Cities" game. But then I read that other than the first part of the name it shares nothing else. So looked in to it a bit further and took a punt. Haven't regretted it one bit so far.

Cheers for that link. Have signed up for some rewards smile.

Probably - it isn't as 'pretty' as some more modern looking ones - but it's the Sim City game we were promised when they announced Sim City.

For such a small dev team I think they've done an amazing job, and looks like they're really committed to making it even better over time.

Compared to the embarrassment that was sim city, when it's possible to make stuff like this, you know it's good...

I'm playing it currently on my Surface Pro 2 as my laptop charger decided to go pop recently. So don't see why it wouldn't work.

Anyone else having issues with traffic? I've tried a mega round about, a by-pass, large junction etc. It helps for about 30mins, but slowly a massive tailback in all directions appears. I've put in new off ramps etc to certain districts but still as my city grows the traffic get's worse. Any idea's.

Yeah I'm struggling with the roads but think it's down to my non forward thinking smile
I'm about to start a new map and actually plan the roads better.

I find at the start try to keep housing and everything off what will be your main route and start will doing small villages and slowly growing them, also mass transport will help alot along with freight station

Got it and love it, although seems a bit too easy? Dunno if I need to up the settings but seem to be raking in the money with not much effort

I hate this game. It's now 3am on a Monday morning!!! I should be in work in 4 hours time.
hmmm, can't see any point in sleeping now, may just crack on with more planning.

Actually this is a very good game, that evidently steals many hours from you without you even noticing.
Far better than the mess up, thanks to EA, of the latest Sim City.

Buy it, but only if you don't really need sleep.

I sorted out the traffic problem with three simple steps.

1. Bulldozed my posh housing area and ran a raised highway in its place.
2. Used public transport in and around the affected area.
3. Put a no heavy vehicle policy in place and stopped trucks from using the back roads.

Seems to of sorted the problem for now, but it took hours.

Bought this at the weekend and pretty much played it non stop.

Really well thought out and really as many others have said what Sim City should have been.

The good thing is that it is as hard or as easy as you want it too be.

To make it harder, start a new city. Don't do any forward thinking then about 2-3hrs later you will be ripping your hair out with traffic problems, not enough highly educated people and power/water issues.

Here's a tip. If you're going to use the dam as a source of energy, make sure you have flood plains.
I found out the hard way. Ar$e.

I looked at this for the kindle yesterday as I got a homescreen pop up - £23....

seems a bit steep if its still in development? or is it a finished product?

It's a finished game, but they've said they will actively continue to develop it and add new features as time goes on (as with many full release games).

I'm getting it off Steam this evening, my friend kept bugging me to get it, and at lunch today I watched about 45 minutes of Let's Play on YouTube.

Suffice to say I'll probably be staying up very late tonight laugh
