GTA V PC version

Hmmm it's sat on a workbench in my office at the moment - the only outputs on the GPU are DVI and HDMI and the only monitor is VGA only so it's running via a DVI to VGA converter - now I've said it, that doesn't sound like a recipe for stunning visuals. I can't cock about with it too much, I'll have to wait until the 750 turns up and I get it home. anonymous said:

I dunno, I saw some hideous looking reflections in puddles with some settings.
Reflection MSAA is broken isn't it? I agree though, reflections isn't the best test. Would be better looking at the difference between texture settings etc. That Kotaku vid a couple of pages back is a decent example.
Also, the Potato Masher video shows what it looks like at Normal.
Anyway, GPU has just landed I'll get it all set up at home tonight!
Fired it up with the new GPU last night, my word it's impressive - at first glance it looks good, noticeably sharper than the PS3 version. The car dynamics seem slightly different too, more tail happy perhaps?
The real difference though isn't the look of stuff close by, but the range in which they stay sharp.
I will have to find the time to learn about the various graphics settings, I just left it in Auto last night - it all looks superb - a few tiny glitches with some detail being added onto cars as I get into them but I'm very happy - I think an SSD might help me though, loading times are still long and I've got a pretty old, slow HDD in at the moment.

Those of you who've played console versions how are you finding keyboard, mouse and 1st person perspective? I've never really got on with controllers and wondering whether to invest in the PC version.
Keyboard and mouse are great when you want to level up on the shooting skills, at the gun range. Every where else, i use a controller as it's easy to play with.

Found it odd at first, I'd still prefer the controller for driving and flying but it's much better for aiming.... massively better.GrumpyTwig said:

Can't have it all I suppose.

I use XB360 controller and 3rd person view for most things, but for online deathmatch, and combat in heists I switch to FPV with keyboard and mouse.
A slightly annoying thing I've found is the switching of views seems a bit laggy, so sometimes when switching I cycle througn the views too fast, or it doesn't seem to register the change straight away.
Something else which may affect you is the low field of view the first person mode has, this makes some people feel sick, although romours are this may get patched. I think there is a Mod out already but it changes some games files, which could be detected as hacking in the future and get you banned.

Absolutely love the mouse & keyboard control- I remember playing GTA Vice City back on the PS2 and wondering just how good the game would be on PC in first person with mouse & keyboard control. And now I know!
I've always used the keyboard/mouse for controlling planes/helicopters in all of the battlefield games etc so it just feels normal to me, I'd have to relearn everything to use a controller and it would get annoying having to keep switching back & forth between that and the mouse/keyboard.
My only criticism is that when using the mouse for aircraft control in GTA V it doesn't feel anywhere near as smooth as the Battlefield games, so much so that I have gone to using just the keyboard, leaving the mouse for camera view only. This actually works rather well in third person.
I also really like how you can have default camera angles set- so I have a default first person view when on foot, then it automatically switches to third person when entering a vehicle, then back to first person on exit. So much better than continually cycling the camera manually.

Hopeless with it, shooting it's incredibly accurate, I'll probably use it for something Coverted or something like that, but otherwise I'm all fingers and thumbs - especially driving, I can't steer or counter-steer quickly enough or smoothly enough with the on/off way keyboards work or feed in the power like you can with a controller, makes something like the Vacca which is a pig to get going from a standstill really frustrating.I've got a cheap Xbox One clone plug-in controller and that's hard enough to get used to, the handbrake button is different and the zoom on scooped guns is different - I should find the time to adjust it back to PS like controls really.
Anyone running it on a laptop?
I've got a Sony Vaio - 8GB ram, i7 processor, 2GB nVidia GeForce GT 640M LE - think she'll hack it?
I have been considering a PS4 (mainly for GTA V) but if my laptop will hack it, I could just plug it into my TV via HDMI and get an XBox One controller.
It's got a full HD screen so it outputs to the TV in full HD perfectly.

I've just got an i7 Lenovo laptop with a 2gb Geforce and GTAV runs really nicely on it on about medium settings, some slight stuttering when driving around fast but apart from that it's really good.I've got a Sony Vaio - 8GB ram, i7 processor, 2GB nVidia GeForce GT 640M LE - think she'll hack it?
