I find WoWs own site to be pretty good.

Yes, I found that last night actually. Someone on Reddit mentioned it too.

You can click between bot (PVE) and human (PVP) games in the top right.

I've played just over 930 games of both types on my US account. I've also played about 140 games of both types on my EU account. That's a newer account as I bought the Gremyashyshyshy Soviet destroyer, which is not bad actually. It compares OK to the US and Japanese equivalents.

I hope it never gets xvm. Even if it does, I am definitely not playing the stats game. It messed up WoT for me as obsessing about stats detracted from the simple pleasure of playing the game. I won't make that mistake with WoWs.
XVM would be a big negative. There's enough poisonous individuals out there without giving them any ammunition.

I was getting dogs abuse from some toerag the other day. I actually watched the replay to see what he was on about and I still can't see what I was supposed to have done wrong. I ended up sinking 3 ships, effectively winning the game and finishing top on XP. The guy wasn't the usual World of Tanks stlord either, but a 62% unicum with 26K battles.

Many thanks! That's pretty good. US server only, but it's playable from the UK.

The Murmansk is basically a US tier 5 Omaha cruiser. They lent it to the Russians for a few years.

I bought the deal and used the Bonus Content code on my US account. It's added the Murmansk, 1,000 gold and 6 days of premium. I don't think I got any extra port slots though.

If anyone wants the US closed beta invite code, let me know and you can have it for free. clap

Player stats and cash etc are all due to be reset tomorrow, so I guess CBT is coming to a close. No idea how long before it becomes OBT but I don't suppose it will be too far away.

No more Fuso or Minikaze for a while then. cry

Downloading patch 0.4.0 (which is 2,840 Mb) on the US server now. EU tomorrow, as you say.

Unless there's any major problems, this'll be the one they'll use for open beta.

Looks like they've wiped our NA profiles already. It's saying I haven't played any battles.

This should be the last wipe though. Open beta will likely be in a day or two, so we only get a small head start.

So what lines are people going to chase first then? For me it's a toss up between the Cruiser lines, I really like both the USN Tier 5 Omaha and the IJN Tier 5 Kuma. Could quite happily just have those two and nothing else cloud9

You'd like the Russian tier 5 premium cruiser, the Murmansk then. It's a lend-lease Omaha. Not quite as fast, but with 8km range torps. They're only 5.5 km on the Omaha.

I'll do all the lines like before, apart from aircraft carriers, which I have no interest in. American battleships are slow, short range and a bit boring compared to the Japanese ones, but quite tough. I was up the tier 6 USS New Mexico, which is a decent ship.

I'll definitely get the tier 5 Minikaze Japanese destroyer. What a deadly little sod that is. Probably my most played ship on the US server. I use the stock 7 km range torpedoes rather than the 10 km ones, as they're much faster. In reality, it's nigh on impossible to hit ships at that extreme range anyway.

American destroyers are quite different. I find it best to play them more aggressively in support of other ships. They're also great for ambushing ships using the islands. I'd just got the tier 6 Farragut, which has torps that can do 16,633 damage each, although the 4.5 km range does make it more dangerous to deliver them.

My US client is updated now, but the server is still down currently.

Funnily enough Jingles posted a piece about the Minekaze today. He also goes with the shorter range torps.

The US server is back up again. My account was automatically upgraded to level 6 (it was 7, but new players will start at 1). So at least I can make use of ship upgrades, free XP, captain skills from the start etc.

There's only 3 ships now. The tier 1 US and Japanese ships, plus the USS Arkansas tier 4 battleship, complete with camo:

I've had one game with it and like the regular tier 4, the USS Wyoming, it's a decent ship. The captain it came with had 3 skill points I could allocate. They've completely revamped those. You can get "6th sense" with just one skill point if you want now. It's not really worth it on a ship like this though.

Unfortunately, all my gold, free port slots, Murmansk Russian cruiser and other captains have disappeared though. That's a bit of a pisser, but looking at Reddit, I'm not alone here. It may be added later though. We'll see.

Gold is defo supposed to be there, I imagine it's teething issues with the switch from a beta currency to unified WoT/WoWS/WoWP currency and will be resolved soon.

Here's what you can expect as freebies dependent on your games played:-

So I'll see the flags once I get back up to level 7 then. That's 10,000 XP away I think.

There's a level 8 now, which adds a camouflage option to your ships, like World of Tanks I assume.

My US and Japanese tier 1 captains both had 9 unallocated skills to play with.

I will check if my Port has been reset this evening when I get home. I reckon I will concentrate on the US Cruisers and IJN Battleships at first. I would like to get the Omaha and on to the Cleveland, and also I would like to get the Kongo. Once I have those I should be all set for fun and shennanigans.

Hopefully they will unify with WoT sooner rather than later and I can use my pre purchased month of premium account on WoT as well. I could also farm free xp on WoWS to spend on WoT. Now that would be cool.

Wargaming NA were determined to shaft those who bought the Murmansk cruiser via the E3 Humble Bundle a week ago. The official policy was "Yeah we know we said you'd keep it, but well... tough titty". When I left it last night they were catching hell online, including their own forums. I woke up this morning to see they've now caved in somewhat. We're now going to get the ship, but no 1000 gold, 7 days of premium or 5 port slots. rolleyes

Anyway, patch 0.4.0 is now on the EU server next time you log in.

The big guns sounds more bassy, there's more smoke when you fire and you can see the water displace with the shock wave as well. Still not enough flame, but it's better than it was.

You'll notice that the research cost of the ships have been increased too, so it's more like World of Tanks now. It won't take long to get through the low tiers, but after that it'll slow down significantly. E.g. The tier 5 Kongo was 8K XP I think and now it's 20K XP. Ship upgrades including alternative hulls, radars etc also cost more than they did.

Hmm.WG could be breaking consumer law if the take money for items and then don't deliver on the agreed contract. But I didn't buy the Humble Bundle so I am just an interested observer
coffee

I expected an increase in research costs and the like when the game went OBT. The CBT economy was extra generous to accelerate peoples progresss so that all tiers could be properly tested.

Yes, it was always going to be adjusted when it went live. On the 0.4.0 test server then had X30 multipliers to accelerate people up the tech tree.

At least they've set my EU account up OK. I got 5 captain skill points to play with on the US & American tier 1s.

They've added the Murmansk now at least.

Also with this patch you can finally, at long last, have the improved heads up display on all the time. So now you can see what you're shooting at. To do this:

Settings -> Controls -> [Enable] Alternative Battle Interface Mode

Good job there. You wrecked them pretty good. smash

There was a small patch for NA players today and the servers were down for several hours. The log in no longer says "WOWS CBT", it's now just "WOWS NA", so something is up. This patch will be applied to the EU servers early on Tuesday morning.

Perhaps then World Of Fires will finally open up to everyone in perpetual open beta, like World Of Tanks.

Just logged in and it says WOWS EU server. No idea if this is open beta now, I guess it needs someone who didn't participate in CBT to see if they can download the game. When I hit the Connect button it did say the server was unavailable though.

ETA : Just checked and it appears that Download is now available to all, so Open Beta is here.
