Well.. last night proved Im not ready to venture online. Doing GT3s with the PH crew and I could only put about 1/2 a lap together without going for a spin.

The first two races I joined were with AI included. What the hell is that all about. I started at the back with them and they just smashed me all over the place.
Ah yes I was on with you (DeviousJon). I wasn't a lot better mind! It's all in good fun!! I'll be on again tonight if you fancy another blast?
Not sure if I was on that race too - AI smashed into me a few times in the first race!!
After Donnington whoever had the lobby left and it was handed to me, soon took them off. Really like watkins glen, never raced there before, also Donnington is nice!

I had a go at using one of the top 10 ghosts but, it didn't seem to work. I just assumed I was doing something wrong (which isn't an uncommon scenario!) and just used my own personal best ghost instead.

You have to select 'use leaderboard' AND tick next to the one you want...

Ghost will only appear on start line once you have completed a clean lap.

Cheers for that ill give it a go later, was wondering how to get it to work.
Interesting to see where im losing time on hockenheim short in road cars. Took a second off my time to put me back in top 10 last night but i cant see where i can gain another 1.2s to where the fastest guys are.

Has anyone worked out how to change the screen size so we don't have massive black bars around the screen?

I must be being really stupid, but i'm pretty sure it's not in options.

I used to do similar ghost time trials in GT and what I found is that usually the time gained is not in one place. I found the fastest drivers would knock 0.1 of a second here, then another 0.1 there by taken just a slightly altered line or taking one corner a tiny bit more cleanly and throughout the whole lap, it just adds up. Only very rarely would they romp away on any one corner, in fact in certain sections I'd be ahead and then loose it on the next few corners due to very small mistakes. Consistency (and a bit of luck) is the key I think.

Also I'm not sure what control device you use but having a wheel makes it a lot easier to be consistent. A thumbstick with about 3cm of travel lock to lock just isn't going to give you the fine control that you need.

Excellent, cheers - didn't even see that option (told you I was probably doing something wrong!)

Same when they go onto the grass at times I find, I had one AI driver match my pace while he was on the grass then beat me into a corner!!

Just debating getting the T300RS now, however from what I read online the brake pedal feel isn't great.

PS thanks Doublesix!
Mine arrives on Monday, I too read about the pedals not being amazing but they can be upgraded if you dont get on with them

Ive seen people mod them too like this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Idil5wuI33U
Pedals arent amazing, but they are perfectly good enough. Without shoes on there is enough resistance that you can easily modulate the pressure (and you need to with ABS off).

There are lots of things you can do with pedals though. People stick sponges, squash balls etc in behind the pedal to increase to give a bit more feel - but they really arent that bad.

The thing you need to invest the most money in is making sure you can get a comfy consistent driving position.

Apparently there is a fairly easy DIY mode you can do to make the pedals feel better. I'm sure it was mentioned in the other Project Cars thread.

Agree with this completely. Can't say that I feel the need to make any modifications at all.

I am getting really frustrated with it - maybe need a break. I switched my aids to real and using the controller seemed to be getting on ok.

But this week seem to have been spinning out at a moments notice and the caterhams are well...something else.

I am coming to the conclusion to drive this properly you really a wheel on real settings.

I'm ploughing into The Witcher 3 for now and hoping when I come back they will done a few tweaks to make the experience more enjoyable.

Fantastic game is PCars but a little flawed at present. When it's good it's really good.
