Picked this up last night, wow it's frustrating... But it's so good when you get it right. Can't get competitive in cars yet, though usually first in Karts (Wow they are weird little things on this)

Really struggling to get to grips with the controller though. Having trouble mapping gears to X & B so I can use the LB button for clutch, but then I just get the unallocated warning. Quite irritating as it's not intuitive to use the shoulder buttons.

Good fun though, Spent a bit lapping monza in a V8 atom before I turned it off until it ran out of fuel, quite a good car for finding out limits, sensitivity & how the game reacts to inputs etc.
You need to assign kers and DRS and when you change the shoulders you need to assign your rear camera view and change.

Set the camera to the shoulders and the kers to the joypads

will give it a go later on! Cheers.

Anyone recommend a decent steering wheel that isn't overly expensive? I realise it's been talked about a lot but I can't justify £200-£300 on a wheel & was hoping for something with a good bit of lock & FFB. Even used there's not much out there!

I've paid £237 from PC Nation for the TX, which is as cheap as it gets for FFB :-(

The Thrustmaster 458 Spider is around £70 I think, and looks the same as the TX. However, there is no FFB, and only 270° of rotation.

Just got my copy of the game along with a Thrustmaster TX. Can somebody give me some settings to try so it's perhaps possible to control a car. The Karts are impossible to drive. You just get spat off as soon as you look at a corner and the FFB wants to break your wrist at every opportunity.

Any pointers would be appreciated as at the moment I feel as though I've just pissed £300+ quid down the drain.

I had an invitation race in the 250cc Kart this evening. What a fking hoot they are. They were practically unusable before the patch but now you can lean on the back outside tyre all day long whilst squeezing the throttle on. They must be crazy to drive in real life and really noisy with those two exhausts!

The patch has certainly made everything a bit more driveable.
Was having a good time last night in a practice race.
GT3 cars at Oulton full circuit. 10 lap race 10 cars start last and work through with AI on 70% gave some really good racing, there was no just firing past people, i had to actually do proper racing moves. The McLaren 12C is really easy to drive.

I only just got my copy today but after 1 session at Donington park in a Clio cup car I am impressed. Can't wait to get into it properly, it looks like a good racing game so far.

And the Clio Cup car is ste!

No, in all seriousness this game is pretty good now, the racing and handling action is excellent.

I still note some issues with the road cars. I wonder if there is no way to build a handling model that suits both road cars and proper motorsport vehicles. Car in questions, the A45 AMG along the Azure Coast. It feels weightless and bobbly and oversteers quite easily. Lift off on sweeping bend, trail the throttle over a crest, all the things that you'd expect to provoke a slide, will do, much more easily than in even the most focused RWD machine. The body roll looks accurate as you consider it's a road car, but it still feels like it's gliding down the road like a hovercraft and will pivot and crash like one. Forza though, has great handling road cars but it's attempt at F1 cars was risible.

However, when CARS gets handling right, it feels amazing. Take the Formula Gulf or the Formula C cars. They feel laser accurate. The Formula Gulf in particular is a monster on handling circuits and can corner at full throttle very close to the top of it's performance envelope, it just sticks to the road like glue when you're set up right.

The Lotus Type 49 feels even more ferocious now post-patch. It was previously pretty benign, but now it tramlines like mad. Throttle over a crest will provoke a slide. Too much throttle in too low a gear will generate an instant four wheel slide. It's about twice as loud as any other car (I always turn my headphones down for it). It now drives like it looks like it should drive, it's a fking monster!

I've started playing this again. On the Ginetta cup only on my second season. Finding it handles better than the last time I played. Unsure if i got a update as my xbone was set to update any time.

But enjoying so far but also trying to keep my hand on Destiney as well.

I'm still awaiting to recieve my TX wheel, 10 days after ordering - "We are awaiting stock from our suppliers!"

I want to play PCars, but I want to hold on for the wheel.

Sounds like this might now be worth a purchase? I see little point in buying anything on release now as they're all released as betas and rely upon testing to correct it. Still really enjoying FH2 but fancy some track action. Would have waited for Forza but this might just get a look in.

found a little bug tonight on the 2nd race of the 4th round of the clio cup series where someone didn't make their mandatory stop until the very last lap so they finished in the pits and won the race, if it were real that isn't legal as far as I know and I lost the race because I was pulled in at the end of lap 2.

I heard of this before when it was first reviewed and seems it may still be happening

Got my TX wheel now, but having problems with FFB. It seems looking at forums it's a common issue on Xbox One. Virtually no FFB/ vibration when on track, mounting kerbs etc, until you go off the track and hit a wall then the wheel goes mental.

Had no issues on FFB on FM5, and i've tried reclaibrating and unplugging the wheel and resatring. I hope this will be resolved with patch 1.4!

Yep, got FFB now, had a blast on it last night.

What level does everyone run the AI cars at? I reduced to to 60% from 80%, and was winning very comfortably in Superkarts, but I fear if I up it I will be trundling around at the back of the pack.

I find it varies.
Superkarts I seem to be able to drive well so I can handle those at 80-90% but then I can be dumped in an Escort in the historic class and I have to drop to 60% to stay on top.

Playing with a controller and no driver aids.

Karts stay on 0% as I hate them with a passion, so just want the race over and done with. Yes, I could skip it, but I'm a bit of a sadist. wink

Historic saloons (Escort, 190E) get around 50-60%, as I struggle with those.

Single seater or proper race cars get 70-100%, depending on how awesome I'm feeling that day. Usually 80% as an average though.

All on Pro, with wheel & full manual w/clutch. Which sounds far more impressive than I actually am! laugh
