What level does everyone run the AI cars at? I reduced to to 60% from 80%, and was winning very comfortably in Superkarts, but I fear if I up it I will be trundling around at the back of the pack.
I was finding 70% too easy, bumped it up to 80% and now I'm getting proper battles with the AI for any chance of a top 5 or podium finish.

I'll sell you mine, message me, bought it and not keen on it, played twice, still in as new condition.

I wouldnt recommend buying it if you play with a controller, I didnt find it fun at all as I dont have a wheel, I think its probably a completely different game with one.

Are the Caterhams just st or should I tweak settings some more? Main complaints are irretrievable amounts of oversteer when trail braking and stupid stupid over correction behaviour on the throttle which just spits you off the track.

Using a pad I'm guessing?? I would go with the former (I couldn't manage at lap at Oulton without crashing at least 3 times so gave up with the 100hp version & not driven it since) though people who use a wheel say it's really good to balance on the throttle/drift.

I'm doing OK with them withthe pad, you just need to be very smooth with brake application as weight shifting moves them around a lot, it is currently the only car I'm properly pitching into a corner on the brakes and steering with the throttle, lot of fun.

And woo-sa woooo-sa.
Doing the Bathurst 25 hour race (2 hour version) get 1hr 40 into it having a good old battle and 5 secs behind first and my engine let's go!

Must refrain from smashing Xbox.

In the bright side the way it cycles through 24hrs is lovely lol

I ended up allowing myself ABS because trying to hit the brakes consistently without locking was proving too much for my tiny tiny brain. With ABS I am finally able to enjoy this game will all other assists off and I think I might put the difficulty up from 70 to 80.

Won the Caterham championship overall and now racing superkarts.

So is this unplayable without a wheel? Got the game on its way in the post but only have a pad. Don't really have anywhere to mount a wheel with my XBO setup!

I'm playing with a pad. It takes quite some perseverance, and even then it's occasionally infuriating. I can't seem to tune out this stupid low-speed overcorrecting issue, it's incredibly annoying.

This game is not a polished product.

Think yourself lucky that at least you've bought it after the patch, before the latest update the game was pretty much unplayable with a pad.

The controller settings which have been discussed at length in this thread are very important, the defaults are miles off.

definitely enjoyable with the pad, I have customised the settings.

You just have to drive it like you would a real car.
progressive onto the brakes and throttle and try being smooth with the steering, that is the hardest part that probably would be sorted with a wheel.

I played this yesterday for the first time - with a controller.

Frustrating as hell, but hugely satisfying when you get it right. I think the main thing to remember, IMO, is that this is more a simulator than an arcade game (like Forza etc).

As said above, in this game, you have to respect the curbs and grass. I lost count of the times I went wide on a bend only to be spat out across the track and into the opposite armco!

Also, once you get a tank slapper going it's really difficult to get back in control.

I like it - but it's going to be a challenge without a doubt!

Potentially a great game but I'm struggling with sensitivity. Tried to do a time trial lap of Caldwell in an E30 and I couldn't even set a clean lap after 30 mins of trying. It seems I need to brake hard to get the car to turn in progressively by loading the front. Always end up running a bit wide and it scraps my lap. That was trying Papahets settings too. Anyone else found a good pad setup they would like to share?

Just picked this up an hour ago. Using the controller settings posted by papahet above, albeit with slightly higher steering sensitivity. Finding it quite enjoyable, though the clutch is a pain to get right - not sure if it's my controller or the game that's a bit slow.

EDIT: I just realised that I can't get the Zero to Hero trophy due to starting in Formula Rookie. Is there any way to fix that?

Tried setting a decent lap, albeit using auto gearbox on Cadwell firstly with the Clio then with the E30. Did in excess of 40 laps but only set 3 clean ones! Mostly lost to the fact that every other lap I kept cutting the 2nd last turn which scrapped the following lap.
I was enjoying it even so, then.....

Jumped into career mode and started on karts. Parahets setting on the pad. What is going on with the handling???? Impossible to get a smooth lap and I just couldn't get a good rhythm. Tried messing with the sensitivity but it went from not responsible enough to being over twitchy. In the end after trying countless time gave up.

Still want to persevere but I don't want to have to customise pad settings just to get it playable. It should have been sorted in testing before it was released.

You will need to customise the pad settings.

I've done exactly the same - the karts' hendling is terrible! It seems to me that there's either mega understeer or the steering on the controller is just way too slow. There's a circuit (Chesterfield?) with a set of esses that are impossible because you literally can't go from lock to lock quick enough to get through them... Frustrating! furious

Smashed my xbox controller trying to play this junk.

Turned it on, the game pauses and plays, pauses and plays throughout the menu screen.

Then in game the sound is fine but the car doesn't move.

The video is physically freezing and starting again.

Reset the xbox and same thing. Now I can't play anything and have to repair a hole in the plasterboard.
