Dirt Rally.. looks promising!
Discussion
From some playing of a few:
Circuit games:
Assetto Corsa has the best Force feedback
Project Cars has best gfx
R3E has the best sound
iRacing has best online play (and it's a toss up with rFactor 2 whether it has best physics)
Not played:
Stock Car extreme, although I hear it's pretty good for what it is
Rfactor 2 great physics, gx not so great.
Rally:
Apart from Dirt Rally there's not much out there, but it has great gfx, good sound and pretty good FFB; in addition to that, I find it the most interesting (if also the most frustrating sometimes!)

Dirt is a game that made me buy a wheel after 100 hours of it. PLayed AC, PC and iracing. They're all different, but I struggle to enjoy them. R3E is the one circuit racer that I had the most fun with. Dirt is mighty. Steam ID danllama?
A load of new cars will be released on console debut, too.

Thanks for all your feedback guys!
I have a decent'ish PC
Intel i7-3770 cpu
16 gig of ram
But a naff graphics card - was thinking about investing in a 970 card, but is it best to wait for it to come out on PS4 instead?
Decisions decisions.
Have an i5-4670, 16Gb (although that doesn't matter for this) and a 970 OC. Runs Dirt Rally at Ultra @1440p no trouble. So a 970 will see you right. The new manufacturing process will create a new set of more powerful gfx cards, making the 970s et al. drop in price - but it will be a few months yet. Get one now I have a decent'ish PC

Similar here, i7-4790, 16GB and a GTX 970 - no problems.I have a decent'ish PC

Been playing this game for a week or two now really getting to grips with it now.
Just opened up ultra so let's see how good I really am finished 1st on the earlier modes.
Don't have aids on and using paddles on the Mini Cooper.
Have tried the other cars on bond championship just bought the Hyundai as I feel more stable but slower.
Great game hard as been said but when you get it right it's awesome!

I can't do rally games anymore, too much circuit racing and not enough of the loose stuff. I got dirt rally on early access but I just can't make it round a corner, finishing a stage is excruciating. I know if I out the time in id enjoy it more but I'm having too much fun with Project Cars right now.
I played for around a couple of hours tonight. I am still using the e30 M3 and loving it. I am getting to grips with corner speeds from the Co drivers calls now. When you get a stage hooked up and beat the Ai's times by 5 or more seconds it feels great!
It reminds me slightly of my rally experience day with Phil price! Brake/lift, turn, throttle! I am still relying on the visual indicators for some corners as I just can't take all the info in from the co-driver, whilst trying to keep the car on the road. Much like when I gave it a go in real life. I was fine controlling the car where I can see the complete corner, when I have to take instruction and control the car I struggle!
Being able to reset on the game has come in useful...

Tried PC, gfx are nice, but the FFB and sound are both so poor. Sound isn't as much of an issue (although jarring), but the ffb is a bit more of a problem. You just can't tell when the car is going to lose it after playing AC and to a lesser extent, Dirt.
You should try these tweaker files for PCars, they cater to a range of tastes and bring out the best in the FFB, personally I find AC FFB is too much, it feels like a constant rattle, it just gets on my nerves I think. I love the game despite that though.http://forum.projectcarsgame.com/showthread.php?22...
I put some time in on Dirt Rally over the weekend, and though I'm still pants, I am starting to enjoy it more. If I could just get the missus and kids to shut up so I didn't miss the co-drivers instructions so often
Apparently telling them to shut up directly is considered rude...who knew?
This was a quick video of me making a right old hash of a stage.

Whats worse is it took about 3 restarts to get the above poor run! That was around 5 seconds quicker than the AI.
This is how it is really done (different stage and 4WD car):

After getting 2nd overall in a championship (5 countries, Masters level) in the 2001 Subaru I thought I'd try the Lancia 037. Oh boy. Germany was ok. Monte Carlo is tough, but getting there quite quickly. The problem is that it's not forgiving at all when you slide, and that's where I lose the seconds.
That said, keeping it in a good enough state to repair completely at the end of each pair of stages. Though I have 4 more countries to get through before I find out my final position in this championship. Yikes.

Monte Carlo is especially bad for that, it can just snap away, I really hate it. Germany isn't so bad but you still don't get a huge amount of warning when it's about to let go one the fast bends, but there is less to crash into (or fall down). I much prefer the loose surfaces, in fact Sweden is where I have the (comparatively) most success.Gassing Station | Video Games | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
