James you still haven't said what assists you are using? biggrin
Assists? Don't we all have a Gentleman's agreement not to use any? (this may explain why I keep driving off a cliff!) hehe

Hm. The scoreboard suggests a few people are using them.

I've had Traction and Stability control switched off from the start.

I think it's the ABS setting that means it shows you as having assists switched on, mine is set to 2 from memory?

As above, the spreadsheet is showing the majority with assists switched on, including Speckle who just implied he doesn't race with them either smile

I've had most assists off from early on (November or December) - I did have ABS on (which I thought I'd switched off) at the time of the first season, but that's now off (although I'm going to check preferences next time I go on).

I think ABS is the one that gives the greatest benefit... biggrin

The stability and traction control isn't needed on anything 4WD (and arguably RWD). It would be hard to spin anything 4WD in a traction zone other than perhaps on the Monte Carlo and even that would require big ham-fisted-ness.

Getting the "perfect" brake requirement done 'automatically' on the other hand...

Oh OK I am just stirring it up because I know I will be miles off James' pace tonight. laugh

The only things I now have active under 'Assists' are Clutch Override and Entire HUD.

Sounds similar to the current event running on the piston-heads2 league, I think 4 of the stages are at night with one of them being Monaco in the snow!

Cheers Speckle...hehe
It wasn't me, I promise!! I think Piston-Heads2 is random but, I didn't set it up - maybe whoever did is just a sadist?!

Whatever you set up tonight Tonsko, I'll replicate it on PS4 tomorrow at work thumbup

ETA - I see that you've already done it. Will try to find time to set it up this afternoon...

Sorry im the eejit who set up the league. It is mainly on random but also figured with it not quite being as serious as the main one a few killer stages could be fun. If people would prefer i can change.

Right, that's my run done. First 3 stages went well then started dropping off after that. Finished 8 seconds behind James and 14 seconds quicker than xRIEx. Actually did better than i expected but it's hard work with rwd.
Well done to James in first at the moment, there very good times with a controller.

Blimey you were setting some cracking stage times at the start! Around 20 seconds ahead of me by stage 4 (although my 15 second penalties didn't help) and then we were literally dead level after stage 6!! Seriously close eek

Monte Carlo is a bh for that, I've learnt the hard way (many times) that the gung ho style that works well in the likes of Finland, Greece and Wales gets you retired. I now avoid sliding as much as possible, creep round hairpins and generally try to not ding off walls, just keep the car in a straight line in the middle of the road.

I hated it up until that point (which was only a few days ago) - now I can better appreciate that each different location demands drastically different driving styles which I think is one reason why it feels so much more rewarding than the usual circuit/road racing games.

Exactly what happened to me! Was it over a bridge by any chance?

I spat my dummy out to be fair tonight. The first stage I was about 6 seconds off the best time till I cut a corner where a spectator happened to be standing and I got a 15 second penalty right before the finish. Then crashed out on a bridge in the second stage. It was such a slow accident I got very angry!

I was pootling round, dead last after first stage 17 seconds off the lead, hit a patch of ice on a 2 left and the snow piled up by the wall acted like a ramp...it was like a 20 mph accident...the car just crept up over the top of the wall.

Talk about frustrating! I'm going back to Project Cars and Euro Truck 2 until next week...to be fair Project Cars is as frustrating if you are racing AI and it starts to rain...they are virtually unaffected by it, also frustrating as fk when your lead carefully built up over 10 laps disappears in 2 corners...
