The update appears to have changed matchmaking from connection based to skill based.

Same here for the connection in games now, really smooth before and a bit hit and miss now.
The matchmaking tweaks (not skill based but, skill influenced) were removed after 24 hours partly due to the unforeseen connection issues.

Apparently, the higher skilled players were supposedly also struggling to find matches due to there being less of them, although I suspect they also weren't happy about having to play against other higher skilled players instead of people like me where they can dominate hehe

From the bottom end of the barrel, it was brilliant while it lasted and I found myself going positive in 5 of the 6 matches I played (I usually go very negative!) I hope they bring it back in some form but, perhaps not quite as severe as it was on Saturday...

Are there still plenty of online players in BF4? On PS4...

I had a look today and my local Game had no copies on the shelf, pre-owned or new. Can the whole game be downloaded on PSN?

I've found the updates good overall, been pretty much positive on k/d ratio for the last couple of weeks.
The matchmaking still sucks ,I always play the objective ,yet every game I a put on a team which doesn't .
Still some chronic hit detection issues, but it's not every gunfight now, just occasional.

I think the hit detection is good, better than previous games anyway, but you know it's time for bed when you do this:

Yeah! Really annoyed haha. We all bought it last week. BF4 PSN price is great. Will check out to see if the expansions are also discounted.

Add me on PSN if you want, play pretty much every day smile xjay1337

Absolutely loving zombies it is so much more advanced than previous version and has real depth.
Dare I say it but Zombies are pretty much the only reason I buy the game anymore.

All the normal complaints of lag ,spawn camping etc seem to repeat themselves every year where as at least with zombies 4 of us can just chill shot the st between us while shooting st online smile

I've been away for a month and I have noticed a couple of things. Can someone explain to me how the prestige/levelling system has changed?

I have noticed some people now who are on max prestige with numbers next to their icon. What's up with that? I can only assume that it's some extra levels they've decided to add for people on max prestige? What's it capped at?

1 whole month has passed and not a comment in here - I guess others feel a bit disheartened with this game too!

I had an email from GAME at the beginning of the month stating I had £9.xx of credit on my account that would expire at the end of the month, so having nothing to spend it on (should have put it towards FarCry Primal) I bought the Season Pass.

The new zombies map is great, and some of the new map designs work well too. Sadly, the rotation of maps is completely f*cked, so I've only played certain levels a handful of times.

Then the new weapons got announced - "Yay" I thought, for the first time in COD history I had paid for a season pass so would have access to these nice new weapons.

No.

You don't just 'get' these weapons, you have to play lucky dip at the Black Market. For a casual player and not an unemployed or school-age person with nothing to do this really takes the p*ss. You earn 1-3 Crypto keys per match and it costs 30 Crypto keys for a rare lucky dip - I'm assured online that a common lucky dip will not likely yield the new weapons.

So, are these new weapons open to everyone, or just those who have a season pass? I'm feeling pretty ripped off right now. WTF.

I thought you could *buy* the guns outright with extra pennies (rather than a chance of one in a crate), not that I've investigated.

I have one of those Netduma routers and if I set the parameters really strict it can look for a game for ages - if it doesn't find one, eventually it'll drop me into a 'boosting' lobby where there are players on 2500+ kills! It'll always seem to be the same lobby on a given day (not friends or owt). Would have imagined private lobbies be different scoring, but seen people well on the way to prestige 10 level 1000!

I used to like zombies, but it seems needlessly complicated these days - prolly just too old and miserable!

I'll probably fire it up when the new maps finally come to xb1, but the "oh, I might have a game tonight" has gone.

C.A.R - I've never seen anything saying that the new weapons are season pass only, but as you say the only way to obtain them is through the Black Market.

FWIW, I've started to really enjoy the game. The last CoD I played to any great length was MW3. I didn't buy BO2 or AW and played Ghosts for 5 mins before that went back on the shelf. I wasn't convinced at all by BO3 to begin with because of the spawn / kill / die cycle and maps you could traverse in 10 seconds. But the more I played it the more I adapted to the play style that the game wants you to use. The two things that got me hooked were:

1) Using the Razorback. For the first time I was able to get good results consistently. It's been shelved for ages now as I've been getting the gold camo for other guns. In addition, some other tweaks to perks, such as always using dead silence and awareness, really helped; and
2) Star Wars Battlefront. For a while I was mainly playing Battlefront, but every time I went back to BO3 it just felt so much more precise. You point at something and pull the trigger and, for the most part, you hit it. Because of the bullet (or indeed, blaster) travel time in Battlefront, you're constantly having to aim a bit off target and if your connection is laggy it starts to become farcical and very frustrating. OR to put it another way, the accuracy:reward ratio felt much higher in BO3.

BO3 isn't without issues for sure. The maps are all small; it's difficult to build streaks; map rotation isn't great with too much Combine; the rate you get cryptokeys vs. the total amount of content available through the Black Market is out of balance and success is too dependent on your server connection.

But there're some nice touches I hadn't seen before, possibly because I didn't own the previous CoD that had it, such as:

1. The winners circle. Harmless fun.
2. Prestige unlock tokens, so when you prestige you're given a token to permanently unlock one item.
3. Specialist classes with weapons that aren't too OP. The equivalent specialist weapons in Destiny's PvP ruined it IMO as they were virtually unstoppable insta-kills. In BO3 you need to be a bit more tactical if you want to get the best out of your specialist weapon.

So not perfect, but it does me fine for now. If you tried BO3 back in the early release days and weren't happy with it, I'd suggest giving it another go following all the patches and updates as it seems a better game now.

Tried the awakening maps. Biggest waste of £12 I've had.

Went back to BF4 and RocketLeague.

I played MW3 to death and loved it. I agree that with both BO2 (horrible game) and BO3 I find streaks pretty impossible. Small maps with people conentrating fire on popular areas of the map means you get killed a lot. I still prefer Ghosts which I know goes against the grain but the maps are great with small, medium and large in equal measure. I managed to get a 13 kill streak last night using a fast run and gun class. I don't think I've ever managed more than 5 in a row on BO3.

3 'rare' black market supply drops later and still no new weapon. Stickers (WTF), some bits for my ever-growing dressing-up box and some run-of-the-mill camo's for weapons I don't use. Losing the will here - it wants me to purchase COD points all the time and the sceptic in me suspects that there is a mechanism which doesn't unlock the new weapons until a micro transaction has taken place.

With regards to map quality, I quite like Splash and the remake of Hijacked (Skyjacked) is good but let down by batsh*t mental spawns which don't allow tactical play. If you watch even YouTube players like Ali A you'll notice that their tactic tends to be to hide in a spot on the map and control it, not camping as such but not far different. Shame really, the franchise needs saving with the next game.

New zombies map is better than the last immense way to spend a few hours!
