I just wish they'd bring out a proper, non gimmick ridden CoD. All this exo suit, parkour nonsense, and the game breaking score streaks, need to stop soon.

Indeed. It seems odd, doesn't it,that a game which has always been an 18 certificate panders to the wants and needs of a 12 year old audience.

The server performance tonight has been absolutely dreadful. Can't get a team game on Zombies. Had a good run solo, netted loads of XP and then got disconnected before the totting up screen, so all the XP I'd accumulated didn't bank. MP performance is pretty fking crap too, I'm getting dropped into French games FFS.

It's been downhill since CoD4 but the recent entries are jumping every shark they find. I've also noticed a few kill cams that stink of auto aim already. Activision never do anything to prevent cheats.

I suspect, once Battlefront is out, this will gather dust.

At least the double boost jump seems to have been kerbed and its pretty useless in BLOPS 3, which is a good thing. So far it seems to be ok and I have had no problems with connection issues on PS4.

I've been playing this a bit this afternoon, the server lag compensation is utterly appalling - watch the enemy kill cams and you can see that what they see is nothing like what you're seeing and as a result, the gameplay is completely wonky. Some games I'm crushing the opposition, others I'm getting absolutely fked and feeling like I can't get a shot off at the enemy before I'm dead.

Why does a game of this immense size - the highest grossing entertainment franchise of all time, not use dedicated servers?

I've only managed a couple of games so far and I've enjoyed it.

It's more like older cods. This wall running malarkey seems stupid to me the game doesn't need it.

The wall running is just for kicks it seems, doesnt seem to be any really tactical advantage.

However this is the first COD I've played since MW and the boost thing is awesome. Most of my kills have been jump shots with a shotgun!

I' played 3 or 4 games this morning and everything was fine. However I've been on for the last 45 min and I've been kicked out of more games than I have all last year on Advanced warfare !

If they sort they this is a good game

There are dedicated servers. Console has had them since at least advanced warfare, possibly ghosts. Advanced warfare used a hybrid system where it connected you to a server or via p2p based on what would be best for each user.

Also, lag compensation is necessary in all online games and has always been there. It seems to have become a term people band about without actually knowing what it is.

What you are experiencing is probably down to a combination of latency factors, from your connection to the host server through to your tvs response time.

For (a basic) example if player A has 30ms ping to the host and you have 120ms ping to the host, player A is theoretically 90ms ahead of you. That probably equates to around 6 frames and will be enough to make it feel like you are dead before you see him fire. That's not even considering any disparity in tv response times etc.

Lag compensation works to even this out but only does so much.

It is also worth pointing out these issues are still present whether peer to peer or dedicated servers are used.

Finally, kill cams should never ever be used as evidence for anything as they are not accurate at all.

I've been having a few games over the weekend and overall I'm happy enough with it. I've had a few laggy games but more often or not it seems to work well enough. I agree with the point above thought about owning in one game to only then get completely ruined in the next.

I thought the wall running / boost jumping side of things was going to be a lot more annoying than it is. It seems pretty much take it or leave it. You don't need to wall run to do well and doing a lot of wall running doesn't seem to offer much advantage other than flanking round the edges of the maps. Just a bit of marketing rather than something integral to gameplay IMO.

The guns seem fairly well balanced and the special weapons don't seem too OP. That was what ruined the PvP side of Destiny for me. Personally I'm not a big fan of the various token systems for unlocks. I'm around level 16 and still don't have that many guns to choose from. Why not just have things unlock by level?

A definite benefit is the 'mute all' function so that I don't have to keep muting the heavy breathers, people listening to music etc. The one thing in game that really irritates is that blast of noise you get every time you unlock your special weapon, then repeated every time you spawn if you don't use. It would be annoying enough, but for some reason it's played 10 decibels louder than the rest of the sound effects. I looked at the sound settings but couldn't work out how to get rid of it without potentially effecting useful sounds. Any ideas?

When a player's gun leaps from head to head taking everyone down with one or two shots, I think you're allowed to be at least a little suspicious of foul play.

The problem with COD is not lag comp or whatever, but rather the fact it never feels like an even playing field. You're either benefiting from a big host advantage or suffering from the same. I used to think that sometimes, I was just tired and that was what made me feel like I was behind the action, but the truth became evident as time went on when I'd find that some games, I was almost always beaten to the punch whilst in others I'd usually have a massive advantage in gunfights and trading shots. The kill cams aren't 100% accurate but they're a good enough guide when you feel like you've been iced in a split second, only to look back and see the enemy shooting at you for a second or two. The difference in experience is palpable, and was never more evident than when the game had that cinema editing mode, which really showed the difference in what was happening, and what you thought was happening when compared against player footage from the same game. If they could be bothered to just make the game feel more fair, I'd be very happy. I still enjoy it for what it is, but there are still thousands of players online at any one time, I don't see why they struggle to give good matches.

FWIW, I'm quite enjoying this new COD but then, Treyarch's games games have always been the best of the lot. It's a shame that singleplayer has been removed from the last gen versions, but then whoever is still playing an Xbox 360 really needs to get with the times. The single player mode is pretty fun, the levels are a bit more smartly designed and the recharging core abilities are fun. Much like with AW, it feels like a lot of hard work and care has gone into making a better single player experience which many will just skip. Zombies is also a lot better this time around, though it's very tough. I expect it'll be softened as time goes by.

The MP remains as finely crafted as ever, netcode issues aside. However, the most compelling MP map so far is set in some trippy WW2 style setting - take the fking series back to a proper war! Black Ops 3 is probably as good as future war is going to get, especially since they've toned down the boost jumps. But really, just set the next fking game in Vietnam.

That's the point. In every online game everybody is at a different point in time. Therefore players with lower ping (such as the host) will have a slight advantage over players with higher ping (Lag comp trys to even this).

By nature latency issues appear more evident in cod due to the short kill times associated with a twitch shooter.

Yes,I did look for you on steam but there are several Artois ,none of whom seemed to have bo3.
I'm either under this name or slugs bunny .l will probably be on this afternoon a dear.y evening on core mp usually Dom or some. Objective type game, although I've been on nuketown quite a bit .

God almighty I have never found a game so frustrating,I seem to die in 2 bullets and take 30 bullets to kill anyone.
first two days my kd ratio was 0.6 mind you I always play objective so I always suffer ,last night I just started to actually get decent scores ,I have no idea why,all of a sudden my bullets are actually doing damage.
