Given the similarity of the two games it made sense for AW to use the same controls as WoT so that players could easily switch between the two games. Quite looking forward to the Global Conflict game mode in the next patch as that should give us something that WoT doesn't offer.

I got bored of it quite some months ago due to the same tired maps appearing over and over again in a given day which meant any lengthy gaming sessions were ruined due to lack of variety. There are some maps which are just not fun to play and getting those in the rotation every 3 games quickly becomes annoying. Also progress slows to a crawl once you reach tier 7 and are trying to level up your equipment and/or save for tier 8 vehicles if you're not running prem. I am good PVE player and can hold my own in most matches with a bad team so get a lot of nice rewards but it's still painful progress without prem.

The last time I played they'd not long introduced the medals and reward crates. Nice as they are I found it all a bit gimmicky and didn't add anything useful to the game, also taking up valuable game playing time opening crates to find unexciting stuff in there. Yes at first the stuff was very nice as it was novel but that quickly wears off. I think they should just dump your rewards into your garage/stats and let you get on with playing rather than all the gimmicky stuff.

I saw the review of the upcoming new game mode on Jingles' channel and it does have a certain appeal to it. I still think they will struggle to budge people out of their safe havens in PVE to play it though and to be honest I don't have any burning desire to jump ship from PVE to play it as I quite shooting bots in PVE.

I only play AFVs and TDs as I found MBT gameplay incredibly dull after a while.

Fair point, but it surprised me that even the cruise control and reload buttons were the same.

Bought a BMP-1 last night, are they amphibious in AW? Presumably the BMP-2 gets an ATGM as well as the cannon, do you fire them with separate controls or have to switch ammunition?

Alas not, you'll have a switch between each one which has a delay, at least I was when I played it a few months ago - Got bored myself as it just seemed to be a same rush-across-map-blowing-stuff-up on a limited number of maps. Needs more maps and game modes.

How many people still play this? I'm thinking of getting into this after getting frustrated with WoT (another reject) smile

I've been watching the jingles videos on and off to try and get tips, I quite like the PVE side of things

I do when the mood takes me. I am a very good PVE player these days and can often hold my own against the AI when the rest of the team has died. I've not tried GLOPS yet, though. I find the game much more enjoyable than WOT but gets repetitive after a while with the poor map rotation.

Been playing some GLOPS today and spent some time figuring out all the different objectives and wild cards beforehand. It's overly complicated imho and it's clear that 99% of players haven't got a clue what they're supposed to be doing. We won 2 games out of about 20 as the other 18 just had tanks camping spawn or not moving very far and of course the enemy team captured the bases and won by points. There's no point trying to cap yourself when you're in a TD or AFV as you need the MBT support to soak up the shots fired. I had high hopes for it but it's even worse than PVP imho and also has the same landslide victory factor once the enemy has capped a couple of bases as it's nearly impossible to turn the game around without some serious coordination from your team mates and that will never happen with randoms. Back to PVE for me.

Sheridan is a horrible tank imho. Yes does big damage for tier if it pens, but man that reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeload. sleep

I went down the TD/AFV line and am up to my tier 8s now, M1128MGS TD and VBR AFV. TD feels lacklustre but I'm only firing with AP. VBR is a beast once upgraded and I'm always top for damage in it on Perseus which results in a nice platinum crate with good credit and XP boosters.

Which bit are you on? Just the starter tank?

You need to fill the orange bar at the top, when that is full the next tank opens up. Click on the dealer button (left of middle) and then you can choose which way you want to go by following the pre-requisite tanks.

The solid diamonds are the main-battle-tanks (MBT's) and have mahoosive guns for all your blowing up stuff to smithereens smile

I'm currently working my way through my T-64 so I can get a chieftan next... boom!

That's not in the game I don't think, AW doesn't go back as far as that so you'll have to settle for the Leopard instead. If you desperately want to play with a tiger than WoT has one iirc...

Dunno if any of you follow the endless fk-ups that my.com and OE make, usually with stuff like getting the timing of the events completely wrong because they use the wrong time zone calculators, and stuff like the cash grabs with tank reskins of existing tanks and flogging them as premiums etc. This parody video was done by someone and posted on the forums yesterday. If you follow the game development as I do you'll find it absolutely hilarious :

Has anyone been playing v0.19? It's been fun for me, MBT's are no longer and easy cakewalk like they used to be, the AI does try and flank to get to the softer parts of your tank but more often it still gets stuck on the dead bodies of others.

They have reworked the upgrade menu both for tanks and retrofits though which is good, can't get your MBT down to 6.7sec reload time now haha, and they've added a few new bits and pieces. There are now a few more missions and commanders, also they have changed some of the spawn points/rates for some missions which has caused me a couple of issues when tooling around thinking I was safe.

Finally they have removed the over reliance on secondary objectives for some missions which has helped although they still have the one that says "destroy all the hideouts" which is a pain when you are all MBT's.

Finally unlocked my Challenger 2, straight to the top of my favourites for that one! smile
