I'm playing Armoured Warfare as I got fed up with all the bks you get in WoT. Also mostly playing PvE.

I'm only playing PVE for the moment at least. Too burnt out after WoT to face it to be honest. You don't get as many credits, but it's good enough to get to at least tier 5, even with a none-premium account. The free premium days are nice as I want to get my first tier 6. Probably the Leopard 2AV.

Plus PVE is very popular. Lots of moaning on the forums about the lack of people in PVP as a result.

I had a good game with the T-64 earlier on the Operation Perseus map where you have to defend 3 missile silos. My team died pretty quickly, so I had to defend the last silo on my own.

Quite a fight it was. My joint highest number of kills (with the tier 5 Begleitpanzer). Pity there's no replay system yet.
Nice game. What tier is that? I've not seen that map/operation yet.

I've come to realise that at the times I usually play (from 4am to 7am after work typically) there's zero people online in the PVP games and it's a waste of time trying to get a PVP game. There's always people waiting for PVE games though.

By the way, what's the catch with the coin packs you can unlock on some of the tank upgrades? They are down at the bottom of the screen and usually get offered 2 lots of the same amount of coins. I've "bought" some just to see what happened but nothing was deducted from either of my 'reputation' bars. confused

The T-64 is tier 4. That was a medium difficulty game.

The coin thing just lets you unlock some more credits with your vehicle reputation.

One some tanks you can also unlock little pictures (called portraits) and names (E.g The Scorpion).

You can click on your player icon in the top centre of the garage screen and change these if you want.

A bit pointless, but there you go.

Blimey, Direwolf mission is hard work in a TD with no gun depression. Got absolutely annihilated getmecoat.

ETA: actually it's fine so long as you don't drive up to the top of the mountain hehe and stay down on the roads.

Tried a couple of the hard PvE missions in my Chieftain, but didn't fare too well. Completely stock, I'm finding it really difficult to find somewhere on the front of a tier 7 that I can actually penetrate, and even the tier 6s you come up against can be tricky. Needless to say they don't have any such problems when shooting back.

You can usually shoot them through the gun sight, but you only do partial damage in this game if you do that. Otherwise you just have to wait until they've turned side on enough so you can penetrate. Even fully upgraded the Chieftain isn't quick, so you just need to use that troll turret front and -10 degrees of gun depression to hide the LFP. It gets a lot of armour upgrades too, so it has a larger health pool than other tier 5s. In fact it has more health than my non-upgraded Leopard 2AV.

I have real problems damaging Abrams tanks though. Sometimes you'll get 2 boss Abrams in a hard game and then you're shafted.

I quite like the Chieftain over all. I built a couple of 1:35 scale models of it as a kid and the in game tank is as I remember it in terms of details; It just needs the black and green striped camouflage. I've been inside a real one once as well. Why Wargaming keep dicking around with theirs I don't know.

I watched Jingles video on the 'how not to suck at AW' some weeks ago but while I understand the different armour types on some tanks, is there any easy way to tell when playing what has what? I just shoot at anything and worry about it when it doesn't go in. Aiming for LFP even at some of the lower (3/4) tiers will bounce, unlike WOT at those tiers. To be honest it's rare I change my ammo type, I just fire whatever the default is, usually AP or HEAT and don't bother with HE because it usually laughs back at me for 2 damage whenever I use it.

My go to ammo type is HEAT. If I start getting a lot of red penetration indicators on my sights I swap to AP. It's very rare that I use HE.

Capping is a real bone of contention in PvE. Like I've always said in WoT, "noobs gotta cap" & it's the same here. Unfortunately in this game, it also triggers a new spawn of bots. Do that at the wrong time and you'll screw over your team and sometimes lose. Bad players are so tactically inept, they never look at the map & just don't consider this.

A simple "Ready?" in chat is all they need to do first. Usually by tier 4 / 5 they've finally learnt this, but it's still an issue in the low tiers.

I've seen that Jingles video and he seems to confuse over-matching with over-penetration. They are not the same thing and AW doesn't have over-penetration (reduced damage when an AP round goes straight through) like War Thunder Ground Forces or World of Warships does.

Knowing which tank has what armour comes with experience really, although even some bots may be upgraded and others not.

I prefer to fire HEAT as it has higher alpha damage. I have it as the default ammo type. My load out is roughly 50/50 HEAT/AP with no more than a couple of HE shells for the hell of it. HE is pretty useless, even though you do generally damage modules with it.

At the low tiers you can pen pretty much anything with HEAT. As you get higher you'll come up against tanks that are less vulnerable. Depending on the match up, I'll switch to AP so at least I do some damage each shot.

Swingfire is hard work and very map dependent. Even on PVE by the time the missile reaches the target someone else has stolen your kill which is very annoying. I'm actually ignoring low health vehicles and only going for the big HP ones instead to ensure I get some XP. I'm quite looking forward to the Fox after it as I've been watching Circon play it and it looks like a lot of fun.

Not having a fun time in PVP matches even starting at tier 1 and learning the maps, camping spots etc. Tried both the M113 and the PT76 but all matches have been tier 2. Can't pen anything at all with either ammo option in the M113 and bounce after bounce against tier 2 MBTs in the PT76 as well. It's like the WOT equivalent of trying to take on a VKB frontally, but at tier 1/2. Just not happening. Had one guy on the other team troll his way right across the middle of the field on Ghost Hunter, AT-2 style, and no-one could pen him. Typically I didn't pay attention to what tank it was, which is probably why I'm having the problems that I am banghead.

The Fox should be called the "Pig" because it drives like one. The short wheel base makes it extreeeeeeemly twitchy in this game.

Other than that major issue, it's does OK I suppose. It's definitely my least favourite tier 5 and I have them all now. It gets a 6 shot autoloader which is usually effective against the side of enemies. You will also unlock a twin MILAN ATGM, allowing you to fire a relatively quick 1-2 that'll wreck MBTs side on.

With any missile & gun armed vehicle, I try to hit them with the missile first and then have the gun pre-selected so I can follow up & finish them off. This is very effective.

I bought one of the Merc packs for a tier 6 tank and tier 4 tank destroyer. They're both very good, unlike most of the premium tanks in WoT.

Looks like we're getting a free Type 59 for Christmas.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGgsmCkfB88

It'll probably be a tier 3 tank.

Yep, free Type 59 MBT as from today with the new patch 0.12.

It's a tier 3 premium tank, so it comes with a fully trained crew and makes more credits than a regular tank.

I just downloaded latest patch and picked mine up beer. Not played it yet as I was planning to go to bed, but I couldn't resist a quick game in my LAV-300 hehe.

New map for me - Hydra - and I did rather well if I say so myself. yes

Nice one. I like that new Hydra map and it seems to work with all vehicle types. There's another new map which is quite good too. It's a night map, which means you're running into dead tanks even more than normal.

PVE bot spawn is now randomised, so they can come from anywhere.

Another rather ingenious thing they've added is the ability to turn any regular vehicle into a premium tank for gold. The amount depends on the tier, but it you've got a favourite tank it's a pretty neat feature.

Oh dear.... hehe

Was having a good game in my Swingfire on Stormy Winter medium and so I said the old favourite "NO CAP KILL ALL!" to stop them capping, which they did. But then the game sounds all messed up (according to a team mate, a well documented problem on that map) and I lost my bearings and ended up dead. We lost that game and one of the other team mates said "yes, socalledPRO, NO CAP KILL ALL................." getmecoat

Beati, just lost a game on Dire Wolf. 2nd defend point and the rest of the team (who were all tier 5 and I was the only tier 4 in my Lav300) went the WRONG WAY round the mountain to the next point. WTF!

Where is the Picard gif...

Mediocre game but the platoon players were having a good bh on the chat hehe. Look at my XP laugh. Lots of spotting and marking targets yes.

How you finding the new spawning in PVE Beati? Loads ranting about it on the official forums but personally I've had noticed much difference. They're still as easy to kill as ever imho.

The new spawning changes are better over all, as are some of the map changes they've made.

The amount of bots that spawn on a couple of the maps is insane though.
