Why not? It's not like this is a fan-made game built on a shoestring budget, it's released by the faceless monster of EA. This should have been better than Forza Horizon. I don't think anyone plays this seriously thinking it's going to be anything but an arcade racer, but that shouldn't be used as a mask to hide how poor it is. I'm also nearing 50% completion with a few hours left, they'll have to be pretty sharp with the DLC!
Here's some quick screen-grabs for those still interested in it. I think I probably will still buy it, but essentially just so I can build cars on it (a bit like I used to back in the days of Tokyo Extreme Racer!)

I'd struggle to justify paying XB1 game prices given it's issues, but when you combine that with the other games released recently and in the near future, I'll be waiting for this one to appear on Gold discounts I think.
I was in the Beta and whilst it seems they haven't fixed as much as they said they would I'll still be getting it in Nectar Double Up at the end of the month.
Customisation is finally extensive for visual parts, and simple enough in the performance area. Considering it's had a lot of influence/team members from Speedhunters it was obvious this area would be good. A friends car is actually in the Intro of the game which was cool.

I guess for me that's going to be the cause of any defects in this NFS, EA are spread too thin and desperately trying to shoehore that stupid engine into all it's games.* Ghost Games on the other hand haven't and other than NFS: Hot Pursuit and Burnout: Paradise have a terrible record of making racing games (wiki states 80% of staff are from Criterion). Turn 10 only do Forza, they live and breath it from dawn until dusk, frankly if any of the Forza's were even slightly less than amazing I'd be worried.
- From the comments it sounds like the Xbone version hasn't enjoyed it's application in a racer over a FPS.

100% agree with you there! Only a handful left that want to make a good game before release. Though I did like the guys doing Prey 2, they cancelled it saying "we're not happy that current system capabilities can cope with our vision" or something similar. I guess the cynic could say that's all part of the marketing plan too! 
NFS has always been great for pick up and play or for occasionally spending an evening building up cars and then cruising through the city.
Both quite satisfying but I loved the immersion I felt with taking a freshly built car and driving round the open world city in NFSU2 and banging through the gearbox in manual. Hearing that this is an auto only game really takes away some control and immersion for me. Yes, I know it's an arcade game but nothing irks me more than not having control over the gearbox in a racing game! Plus, sometimes it's nice to short-shift around the city.

Otherwise, its an amazing coincidence that two people have mentioned a late spec RX-7 being included!
Despite all the negative reviews, I'm still buying this just for the RX-7 Spirit R... I'm trying to import one at the moment and would love to drive it digitally. I am so sad!
