Maybe a shortish track for the 300, we haven't been to Silverstone or Catalunya which both have national circuits.

So the 1952 Mercedes 300SL with Silverstone National then? It's like an old style circuit not too slow and chicane blighted so should work well with the SL.

It's a shame historic Silverstone, Spa and Rouen were dropped from the core game. They were all superb flowing sweeping circuits, hopefully they will release them soon.

A bit quicker this time tho lost a bit in the middle sector. Still using stock ffb settings but allot of patience
Needed for cornering

Edit to update even quicker time by half a sec more. Can take 2 tenths off my middle sector but struggling to
Improve more at mo

Just got a proper wheel so thought I might join a few of these.

I'm sure my time will get beaten easily due to a big slide into Brooklands but it was the best complete lap I managed to put together. As it's my first go I've uploaded my timing screen.

Not sure where I can find much more, took me a while to get the first corner, turn in is alot earlier than I was expecting. Probably loosing time on 2 and 3 too.

  • UPDATE*
Managed to squeeze a bit more out, I'm sure there's another tenth or two to come still but I just can't put them all togethor. Braking on the long straight is usually catching me out due to the poor brakes, and the long right which I've never been very good at.

I can't brake that late on the back straight, I have to jump on them pretty much when the kerbs start, and even then it can sometimes be a bit iffy.
Need to look at my shift times too, didn't think 3rd went that high, I was changing into 4th at about 90.

I'm also braking at 100 for the first turn rather than 50, any later for me and it just won't turn in.

You might need to give your pedals a hoover out of dust & fluff, they can sometimes not give you 100%. Then plug back in and go through the normal windows controller settings, then in game. You mentioned a few weeks back that you couldn't go as quick on the Spa challenge, maybe that's why if throttle wasn't going to 100% as well.

Possibly, although I would imagine spa was more my skill, or lack of. Pedals do get dusty (get hoovered occassionaly), but I just had to redo the calibration as I've moved onto Win 10, and calibration in game was showing 100%.

Is it possible to lock the brakes up on the Merc? I've got ABS off but when I stamp on the brakes I'm not getting any lockup, I thought it might just be because it's an old car so not very good brakes?

I noticed watching the video back I had ABS & TC enabled on my top time (a leftover from Z4), I've tried again with them switched off (real aids mow) and in cockpit and I'm half a second slower...

I have ABS and TC off for the SL, I smoke the tyres going into Brooklands on my quick lap video. But they don't really have a chance to lock up anywhere else.

Slip her into neutral on a straight and stand on the brakes, it takes forever to stop, didn't Stirling Moss say that the engine braking nowadays is stronger than full braking on these puppies? It's all about balance through the bends, hanging on for dear life.

I'm really not good at this game. 20 laps, this is the best I could manage.

1.13.207

I may need to put TCS and ABS on.

It's only practice mate, I used to play Live for Speed a lot. The combo I raced the most XFG/BL2 RallyX I logged over 7000 laps smile

As long as you're enjoying it, the times don't really matter all that much. I'm way off the pace in any downforce cars, but I still enjoy having a go.

This combo was a good one for me because I actually drove this circuit in a Mk1 MX5 at a PHSS a while back, 25 minutes of pure grin-a-lot fun!
