This missus has gone out shopping so managed to spend the last few hours trying to improve, still losing time on the last sector where B2BS was really good.

Are all you 1:09 'ers using clutch and TCS off? I just can't brake, change down, turn in, carry the speed without either spinning or understeering wide. It doesn't like early shifting into 2nd as the diff grabs when you come off the clutch and you spin.

1:10.332 is the best I can manage now, just spent about 45 laps getting more and more frustrated, biggrin

Also, a little OT but not much, I can't seem to catch slides very well. I can catch the little squirms, but if the car gets sideways, I just can't hold it or recover. I wind some oppo on and come off the gas a little, but it either just keeps sliding sideways and ends up spinning, or it'll snap back the other way so fast I can't get the lock off. The times when it doesn't snap back, I still can't seem to get it straight again and it'll end up in a tank slapper.
Always had this problem with the G25 since I bought, the FFB effects make it feel nothing like driving a real car once you get a slide.

Yes, all aides off.
I've just followed your ghost and i have a few notes:

At Maggotts, when you brake with the left wheel over the curb to turn right into Becketts you are trying to apex the corner too soon which means your then trying to get the car back on line but its pushing the front, unsetteling the car and loosing speed.
I aim to try and get the car lined up between the two black lines before turning in, taking a later apex and opening up the rest of the corner which means you can carry more speed and also get on the power sooner for a good run down the back straight.
Here is a little example video: https://youtu.be/5j6uS-LzvEo
I'm not saying i have the best line but it does illustrate nicely how much time I gained over your ghost.

Secondly you are braking way too late for Brooklands which again is forcing you to unsettle the car trying to get it back in line and then compromising your entry into Luffield.

Edit: With regards to the G27 you are probably trying to wind to much opposite lock on and when the car does grip up again and transfers the weight, well your already to late to catch it.

I was going to have a 2nd go tonight, but the lure of period 1959 Aston Martin DBR1 was too much. It's faster than the Mercedes over the Silverstone National course but it's very loose, if you like oversteer you'll enjoy it.

but now WSBK superpole.

Managed to find a couple of 10ths but still need a lot more practice with the wheel. I'm definitely making the same early apex mistake!

Thanks for the tips. I was wondering how you were getting so tight around Becketts then just pulling away, biggrin. Brooklands I think it was because I was following your ghost, and I'm not sure the brake lights are properly synced as I tried braking where I thought you're ghost was braking, but obviously it was a bit late, biggrin
My first braking point for Brooklands was just as the kerb started, but then seeing FWDs video, he seemed to be braking in half the distance and using the engine to slow down too, although when I tried that I'd end up spinning when hitting 2nd, :P
Can see I'm going to keep coming back to this combo until I can break into the 1:09s, biggrin

ABS on the Merc SL is a hindrance, it gives it poorer braking performance. It pushes the car on more.

Big improvement but i lost over half a second in the last sector compared to my previous best.
Had 1.2 seconds at the bottom of the hill down the back straight but lost it all at in the left right after the mega fast right sweeper!

Bathurst is insane, braking stability is huge issue on this circuit, and this isdefinitely a slow in fast out car.

Back twisties are hard work, or am I just out of shape? Not sure if I'll get back on this week as going on hols Friday. I'm sure my time will be eclipsed soon enough though!

Fun combo though, nice pick.
