And that was with a couple of coming-to's with the scenery too.

How are the pad controls, I struggle when I try to switch back to my pad. Feels too twitchy.
They are too twitchy. I'm using the D-pad rather than the mushrooms so really it's the same all or nothing inputs as a keyboard but somehow it feels better. I only got lucky on that lap because of a few coming-to's with the barriers which didn't slow me down too much - a bit like the 2nd tunnel and kerb you got some good air at on your best lap . I imagine a wheel will be much smoother in turning so using a controller or keyboard theoretically should be at quite a disadvantage. I'm still trying to figure out how you manage to pull away so easily after the very 1st corner. I've hung back and followed your line to the tee but you're nearly 1 second ahead by the first tunnel already . I've tried cutting the corner over the dirt and letting it drift wide a bit but nothing works. Most vexing. From | To | Track | Car | |||

If you are driving around using barriers to help you around corners you get the same cancelled laptime as if you cut kerbs on normal tracks. Clipping one you might get away with, slamming into a barrier or staying on it at speed will get the time cancelled.
I see. I can do about 1:56.5 without hitting the scenery but I think I'm at the limitations of using a controller/keyboar to improve on that. After the mid section where it becomes long sweeping curves it's clear to see how you guys with wheel controllers are pulling away but I bleed speed with constantly having the dab the buttons and on and off.

Off the bottom. Woohoooo!
I tried it in the DLC Stanceworks 1 Series as that was much more fun. Got into the 1.55s with that.

Holy fksticks! I've just seen the price of those G27 & G29 steering wheels .
This is what I use, Driving Force Pro for Pc use - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Logitech-Driving-Force-P...Seems to compete quite well against the G27s and G29s and I've had mine 11 years.

Once you get hooked the price of equipment can quickly escalate. It depends how much you intend to play, I don't like to use the word serious, as I'm not, but it's my hobby and I get a lot of enjoyment from it. I don't have the time (correction I don't want to spend valuable weekends away from my family) or money to get a real car with a trailer and tow car, slog up and down motorways every other weekend in varying degrees of British weather to hoon around a track. Don't get me wrong. If I won the lottery I would be right there but maybe do it on weekdays, because virtual racing/driving isn't the same as the real thing, by some margin. But you can get 75% of the experience I'd say. You can experience the adrenaline of close racing, and the satisfaction of nailing a good lap, all in the comfort and convenience of your home, always back in time to tuck the kids in at night. Maybe in 10-15 years I'll think differently. The good thing about buying equipment for this is maintenance us virtually nil, and most good equipment will last easy 5 years, sometimes longer (although the urge to upgrade can take over). The last 12 months has been a turning point for racing games after a long dry spell, Project Cars, Assetto Corsa, RFactor2, Raceroom Experience....so much choice.Just a bit of fun to pass the time for me. My mates have always said I'm a natural at driving games and I pick them up really easily. Back in the day we always used to play time trials on Mario Kart on the SNES and Colin McRae rallye on the PS1?/2? and they could never get within about 3 seconds of my times. I've met my match on here though!
Do they do those wheels without pedals? Just to steer instead of using a controller/keyboard? I've no interest (nor space) in/for the pedals and they'd just get in the way. I'm sorting of thinking not as there'd need to be an accelerator and brake button on the wheel somewhere which sounds awkward.
