Something odd happens to my car when I go into Quick Race, it never drives the same as free practice. Brakes lock up much more readily in quick race, also understeers more, I must get given the duff car every time, .


Also, I cannot for the life of me get the first corner at Donnington right. I know it's a later turn in than usual, but I just can't get the Clio to go around it, especially not if I try and brake where the AI brakes.

The AI uses a different tyre model than the player, it's far simpler with different grip characteristics. It gives them advantages sometimes but they do tend to slow down more for corners than players need to, but bizarrely occasionally have an advantage, if you watch my video you can see they're all over me into T1 every time, but I'm way faster through the final chicane. You just have to drive around the differences and take the opportunities when you have the advantage.

Yes on 100% the AI is pretty quick, the passes weren't intended to be Plato-esque, but the AI is so slow sometimes it comes as a shock, especially the final chicane and the right hander at the bottom of the hill, giving me the run up the hill. The pass to take first was a misjudgement I was trying to go round the outside, but clipped him slightly. The AI seems to brake if you clip their back end, and then you're just stuck to them unable to turn...it's a bit annoying tbh. I will try again with either more AI or without mad dash to pass half the field into turn1. I might turn the webcam off as well, then I can pick my nose or scratch my nuts in peace ... Lol

Think I might join in with the AMG A45 and Catalunya Club time trial.

The best I could manage was 2 minutes (I think) on the BMW 1M Series on the Azure coast 3. Whilst trying I also had a blast on the same track in the Arial Atom V8 and I'm sitting 11th overall on the Project Cars time trials leader board.

(craste is my PSN id)

Out of interest will we do the AMG & Catalunya Club by using the proper time trial section of the game, so we can see our laptimes on-line? Also the cars will be exactly the same then so everyone will be on a level playing field so to speak?

Plus we can view and use each others ghosts I think.

I'm shocked at the difference in pace between the PC and PS4 players, anybody on here got both so can confirm the PS4 version is in fact more difficult or that the PS4 players just aren't as good?

Would be interesting to see how you fair on each version!

Yes that's what we use time trial and default setup

I think Rex has both and he managed a time 1.5 or 2.5 seconds quicker on PC, so yes sadly there seem to be a disadvantage overall.

Yes I have both. Did the last time trial as a test and the results are on the leader board. Handling differences can be summed up for that combo as less grip overall and PS4. Some handling characteristic changes as well

That's what I used to do on Forza and SHIFT when it was time trials, I say it not be allowed here,


Feels an odd car to drive, all the power is right at the top but then the gear ratios don't feel like they match the power. Grips well though and turns in nicely.
Turned ABS on for the moment, seemed to make the Clios a whole lot easier to drive. Might look at brake balance at some point so I can turn it back off again.

Tried the Clio Cup but keep getting lapped
Really struggling with the handling of the thing - keep losing it on the corners, only done four races and am improving each time.

The Clio's have a proper twitchy back end. You need to get the braking done pretty early and turn in really smooth in my experience. Yet to try the race challenge.

Managed to get a 50.854 using PS4 with t300rs with just ABS.

Understeery little bugger on the last long right hander, also it bogs down, doubt it would do that in real life with all that power!

I found it to have quite a stuck back end once the tyres were warmed up. When they're cold (which they shouldn't be in a quick race) it's terrible for lift off oversteer.

Also best to not get back on full throttle too soon else it'll start under-steering.

Yes I know, a light tap plus sticky bumpers. It's a weird bug, making contact with air means you can't steer and it's harder to slow down.
