Knew I could get a 1.18 if I did a tidy lap. Got another 3 or 4 tenths to improve after that I'm at my limit I think.

As per the table in my earlier post, I'm using a T300RS.

Haven't had another chance to improve yet, I've been busy flying Bi-Planes in War Thunder and indulging in some Space Pirate training thumbup

Ok lets give this one a try, been driving for 20 mins in VR and I think it's a great combo, hope you feel the same!

I agree, it is a fun combo (apart from that last corner banghead)

I keep forgetting to look at my sector times - is there some way I can look them up retrospectively?

Tron, I notice on the steam leaderboard you're using a custom setup whereas I'm on the default. Does that mean our times can't be directly compared (ie. the cars we're driving perform differently) or, does it mean something else entirely?

Hover your mouse over your lap time and the 3 sector times popup after a second - http://cars-stats-steam.wmdportal.com/index.php/le...

If you hover over your time on the pc leaderboard: http://cars-stats-steam.wmdportal.com/index.php/le...
It gives you the sector times as the pop up tool tip.

With regards to the setup type, I did a reset to defaults and saved it as "All Circuits" as far as i'm aware this should display as "D" in the list but it seems very hit and miss. IIRC it is a known issue and the only guaranteed way to ensure its displays as default is to delete the default.sav file in the game folder, however that deletes all your career as well.

To be honest I would much prefer if we did allow custom setups, on the proviso that we share the setups and discuss the changes that were made and why.
I understand basic things like camber, castor, ride height, spring rates and how those affect the car. But when it comes to bump stops, fast rebound, slow rebound, fast bump, slow bump etc I get a little lost as I cannot internalise the effects and if we were to discuss those it might help all of us understand.

As I see it. you first play the game the big single uneditable file that is read for setups has no setups in it except the hardcoded defaults. If you decided to run a race you will change the setup (fuel at the very least) for a certain car at a certain circuit and it creates a setup for it called, for example SLSBug1 inside this big single file. When you reset that back to default for time trial it makes changes to the setup you have active which is the SLSBug1 setup and doesn't delete it. The online board sees SLSBug1 and it thinks it's a custom setup.

Unlike Assetto Corsa or rFactor setups aren't all single files saved in track folders that you can rename, save off and send to friends.

I think keeping setups stock sets a more equal playing field for everyone.

It's not easy to share setups and it's very time consuming faffing with them (trust me I know!!!)

so to keep it pick up and play for us all it's just easier to use default setups.

IMHO of course. I'll try some laps now.

Regarding the sector times on PS4 I have configured the timeboard so you can scroll to "current" in one column and "my best" in another so I can see sector by sector how I'm doing.

Under the "my best" column is your S1 / S2 / S3 times smile hope that helps.

Regarding my own lap time it seems I have a half a second I could gain in the first sector quite easily based on Tron's time, and he's pretty good.
I suspect my line through the long right hander is not very good and I could gain a tenth or two on the tight left as well, I suspect I need to brake deeper and make it more of a "V" than a "U".

When I get another chance. Strange that I couldn't better my S1, which I set after just 5 laps.

What I do:

Turn 1 - Flat with a light braking at same time
Turn 2 & 3 - 2nd Gear, aim to straighten up Turn 3 asap
Turn 4 - hold in tight and take wide exit, 3rd gear only
Turn 5 - Hold in tight, 2nd gear

I'm not sure about this combo, the track doesn't flow all that nicely, the GT3 isn't stretching it's legs on here at all and it feels like it lacks grip with default setup.

On the subject of setups, I don't have a clue about them, I know a good setup can make a big difference, but I wouldn't know where to start. All I ever do is adjust tyre pressures if there is too much under or over steer, and occasionally add/reduce downforce. That's my limit, but give me any set and I can usually go quite well with it. Always the bridesmaid, never the bride though...lol I'm an also-ran.

Got the sector times, thanks for the tip.

As for the setup, I wasn't suggesting anything untoward was going on, I genuinely didn't know what setup it was referring to thumbup

I prefer the pick up and play time trial with default settings. Even if I wanted to fettle and tweak each car/track combo, I just don't have the time let alone the patience!

The setup system is the most annoying part of the game for me. In Live for Speed you could have any number of setups for each car. The PCars setup system is rubbish frankly, one setup per car/track, and even if you reset it to default it doesn't always show as default in the tables. It's a real shame, because the majority of the game is bloody good IMO.

I had a quick blast on PCars2 last night and it feels good to drive, lots to do still though.
